Joshua 7

Οι δε υιοι Ισραηλ εκαμον παραβασιν εις το αναθεμα διοτι Αχαν, ο υιος του Χαρμι, υιου του Ζαβδι, υιου του Ζερα, εκ της φυλης Ιουδα, ελαβεν απο του αναθεματος και εξηφθη η οργη του Κυριου κατα των υιων Ισραηλ.

But the children of Israel committed a trespass in the accursed thing: for Achan, the son of Carmi, the son of Zabdi, the son of Zerah, of the tribe of Judah, took of the accursed thing: and the anger of the LORD was kindled against the children of Israel.

Και απεστειλεν ο Ιησους ανθρωπους εκ της Ιεριχω εις Γαι, την πλησιον της Βαιθ−αυεν, προς το ανατολικον μερος της Βαιθηλ και ειπε προς αυτους λεγων, Αναβητε και κατασκοπευσατε την γην. Και οι ανθρωποι ανεβησαν και κατεσκοπευσαν την Γαι.

And Joshua sent men from Jericho to Ai, which is beside Beth–aven, on the east side of Beth–el, and spake unto them, saying, Go up and view the country. And the men went up and viewed Ai.

Και επιστρεψαντες προς τον Ιησουν ειπαν προς αυτον, Ας μη αναβη πας ο λαος, αλλ ως δυο η τρεις χιλιαδες ανδρες ας αναβωσι και ας παταξωσι την Γαι μη βαλης παντα τον λαον εις κοπον φερων αυτον εως εκει διοτι ειναι ολιγοι.

And they returned to Joshua, and said unto him, Let not all the people go up; but let about two or three thousand men go up and smite Ai; and make not all the people to labour thither; for they are but few.

Και ανεβησαν εκει εκ του λαου ως τρεις χιλιαδες ανδρες και εφυγον απο προσωπου των ανδρων της Γαι.

So there went up thither of the people about three thousand men: and they fled before the men of Ai.

Και οι ανδρες της Γαι επαταξαν εξ αυτων εως τριακοντα εξ ανδρας και κατεδιωξαν αυτους απ εμπροσθεν της πυλης εως Σιβαρειμ, και επαταξαν αυτους εις το κατωφερες δια το οποιον αι καρδιαι του λαου διελυθησαν, και εγειναν ως υδωρ.

And the men of Ai smote of them about thirty and six men: for they chased them from before the gate even unto Shebarim, and smote them in the going down: wherefore the hearts of the people melted, and became as water.

Και διερρηξεν ο Ιησους τα ιματια αυτου, και επεσε κατα γης επι προσωπον αυτου, εμπροσθεν της κιβωτου του Κυριου εως εσπερας, αυτος και οι πρεσβυτεροι του Ισραηλ, και επεθεσαν χωμα επι τας κεφαλας αυτων.

And Joshua rent his clothes, and fell to the earth upon his face before the ark of the LORD until the eventide, he and the elders of Israel, and put dust upon their heads.

Και ειπεν ο Ιησους, Α Δεσποτα Κυριε, δια τι διεβιβασας τον λαον τουτον δια του Ιορδανου, δια να μας παραδωσης εις τας χειρας των Αμορραιων, ωστε να αφανισωσιν ημας; ειθε να ευχαριστουμεθα καθημενοι περαν του Ιορδανου

And Joshua said, Alas, O Lord GOD, wherefore hast thou at all brought this people over Jordan, to deliver us into the hand of the Amorites, to destroy us? would to God we had been content, and dwelt on the other side Jordan!

Ω Κυριε, τι να ειπω, αφου ο Ισραηλ εστρεψε τα νωτα εμπροσθεν των εχθρων αυτου;

O Lord, what shall I say, when Israel turneth their backs before their enemies!

και ακουσαντες οι Χαναναιοι και παντες οι κατοικοι της γης, θελουσι περικυκλωσει ημας και εξαλειψει το ονομα ημων απο της γης και τι θελεις καμει περι του ονοματος σου του μεγαλου;

For the Canaanites and all the inhabitants of the land shall hear of it, and shall environ us round, and cut off our name from the earth: and what wilt thou do unto thy great name?

Και ειπε Κυριος προς τον Ιησουν, Σηκωθητι δια τι επεσες ουτως επι το προσωπον σου;

And the LORD said unto Joshua, Get thee up; wherefore liest thou thus upon thy face?

ημαρτησεν ο Ισραηλ, και μαλιστα παρεβησαν την διαθηκην μου, την οποιαν προσεταξα αυτους και ετι ελαβον απο του αναθεματος και ετι εκλεψαν και ετι εψευσθησαν και ετι εβαλον αυτο εις τα σκευη αυτων

Israel hath sinned, and they have also transgressed my covenant which I commanded them: for they have even taken of the accursed thing, and have also stolen, and dissembled also, and they have put it even among their own stuff.

δια τουτο δεν θελουσι δυνηθη οι υιοι Ισραηλ να σταθωσιν εμπροσθεν των εχθρων αυτων, αλλα θελουσι στρεψει τα νωτα εμπροσθεν των εχθρων αυτων, διοτι εγειναν αναθεμα ουδε θελω εισθαι πλεον με σας, εαν δεν εξαλειψητε το αναθεμα εκ μεσου σας

Therefore the children of Israel could not stand before their enemies, but turned their backs before their enemies, because they were accursed: neither will I be with you any more, except ye destroy the accursed from among you.

σηκωθεις αγιασον τον λαον και ειπε, Αγιασθητε δια την αυριον διοτι ουτω λεγει Κυριος ο Θεος του Ισραηλ Αναθεμα ειναι εν τω μεσω σου, Ισραηλ δεν δυνασαι να σταθης εμπροσθεν των εχθρων σου, εωσου αφαιρεσητε το αναθεμα εκ μεσου σας

Up, sanctify the people, and say, Sanctify yourselves against to morrow: for thus saith the LORD God of Israel, There is an accursed thing in the midst of thee, O Israel: thou canst not stand before thine enemies, until ye take away the accursed thing from among you.

προσελθετε λοιπον το πρωι κατα τας φυλας σας και η φυλη, την οποιαν πιαση ο Κυριος, θελει προσελθει κατα συγγενειας και η συγγενεια, την οποιαν πιαση ο Κυριος, θελει προσελθει κατ οικογενειας και η οικογενεια, την οποιαν πιαση ο Κυριος, θελει προσελθει κατα ανδρας

In the morning therefore ye shall be brought according to your tribes: and it shall be, that the tribe which the LORD taketh shall come according to the families thereof; and the family which the LORD shall take shall come by households; and the household which the LORD shall take shall come man by man.

και οστις πιασθη εχων το αναθεμα, θελει κατακαυθη εν πυρι, αυτος και παντα οσα εχει διοτι παρεβη την διαθηκην του Κυριου και διοτι επραξεν ανομιαν εν τω Ισραηλ.

And it shall be, that he that is taken with the accursed thing shall be burnt with fire, he and all that he hath: because he hath transgressed the covenant of the LORD, and because he hath wrought folly in Israel.

Και εξεγερθεις ο Ιησους το πρωι, προσηγαγε τον Ισραηλ κατα τας φυλας αυτων και επιασθη η φυλη του Ιουδα

So Joshua rose up early in the morning, and brought Israel by their tribes; and the tribe of Judah was taken:

και προσηγαγε τας συγγενειας του Ιουδα, και επιασθη η συγγενεια των Ζαραιτων και προσηγαγε την συγγενειαν των Ζαραιτων κατα ανδρας, και επιασθη ο Ζαβδι

And he brought the family of Judah; and he took the family of the Zarhites: and he brought the family of the Zarhites man by man; and Zabdi was taken:

και προσηγαγε την οικογενειαν αυτου κατα ανδρας, και επιασθη ο Αχαν, ο υιος του Χαρμι, υιου του Ζαβδι, υιου του Ζερα, εκ της φυλης Ιουδα.

And he brought his household man by man; and Achan, the son of Carmi, the son of Zabdi, the son of Zerah, of the tribe of Judah, was taken.

Και ειπεν ο Ιησους προς τον Αχαν, Τεκνον μου, δος τωρα δοξαν εις Κυριον τον Θεον του Ισραηλ, και εξομολογηθητι εις αυτον, και ειπε μοι τωρα τι επραξας μη κρυψης αυτο απ εμου.

And Joshua said unto Achan, My son, give, I pray thee, glory to the LORD God of Israel, and make confession unto him; and tell me now what thou hast done; hide it not from me.

Και απεκριθη ο Αχαν προς τον Ιησουν και ειπε, Αληθως εγω ημαρτον εις Κυριον τον Θεον του Ισραηλ και επραξα ουτω και ουτω

And Achan answered Joshua, and said, Indeed I have sinned against the LORD God of Israel, and thus and thus have I done:

ιδων μεταξυ των λαφυρων μιαν καλην Βαβυλωνικην στολην και διακοσιους σικλους αργυριου και ελασμα χρυσου βαρους πεντηκοντα σικλων, επεθυμησα αυτα και ελαβον αυτα και ιδου, ειναι κεκρυμμενα εν τη γη, κατα το μεσον της σκηνης μου, και το αργυριον υποκατω αυτων.

When I saw among the spoils a goodly Babylonish garment, and two hundred shekels of silver, and a wedge of gold of fifty shekels weight, then I coveted them, and took them; and, behold, they are hid in the earth in the midst of my tent, and the silver under it.

Και απεστειλεν ο Ιησους ανθρωπους και ετρεξαν εις την σκηνην, και ιδου, ησαν κεκρυμμενα εν τη σκηνη αυτου, και το αργυριον υποκατω αυτων.

So Joshua sent messengers, and they ran unto the tent; and, behold, it was hid in his tent, and the silver under it.

Και ελαβον αυτα εκ μεσου της σκηνης, και εφεραν αυτα προς τον Ιησουν και προς παντας τους υιους Ισραηλ, και εθεσαν αυτα ενωπιον του Κυριου.

And they took them out of the midst of the tent, and brought them unto Joshua, and unto all the children of Israel, and laid them out before the LORD.

Τοτε ο Ιησους, και πας ο Ισραηλ μετ αυτου, επιασαν τον Αχαν τον υιον του Ζερα, και το αργυριον και την στολην και το ελασμα του χρυσου και τους υιους αυτου και τας θυγατερας αυτου και τους βοας αυτου και τους ονους αυτου και τα προβατα αυτου και την σκηνην αυτου και παντα οσα ειχε, και εφεραν αυτους εις την κοιλαδα Αχωρ.

And Joshua, and all Israel with him, took Achan the son of Zerah, and the silver, and the garment, and the wedge of gold, and his sons, and his daughters, and his oxen, and his asses, and his sheep, and his tent, and all that he had: and they brought them unto the valley of Achor.

Και ειπεν ο Ιησους, Δια τι κατεταραξας ημας; ο Κυριος θελει σε καταταραξει την ημεραν ταυτην. Και πας ο Ισραηλ ελιθοβολησαν αυτον με λιθους και κατεκαυσαν αυτους εν πυρι και ελιθοβολησαν αυτους με λιθους.

And Joshua said, Why hast thou troubled us? the LORD shall trouble thee this day. And all Israel stoned him with stones, and burned them with fire, after they had stoned them with stones.

Και εστησαν επ αυτον σωρον λιθων μεγαν, οστις μενει εως της σημερον ουτως επαυσεν ο Κυριος απο της εξαψεως του θυμου αυτου δια τουτο καλειται το ονομα του τοπου εκεινου Κοιλας Αχωρ εως της ημερας ταυτης.

And they raised over him a great heap of stones unto this day. So the LORD turned from the fierceness of his anger. Wherefore the name of that place was called, The valley of Achor, unto this day.
