Jeremiah 41

Και εν τω εβδομω μηνι ο Ισμαηλ ο υιος του Νεθανιου, υιου του Ελισαμα, εκ του βασιλικου σπερματος και εκ των αρχοντων του βασιλεως, και δεκα ανδρες μετ αυτου, ηλθον προς τον Γεδαλιαν τον υιον του Αχικαμ εις Μισπα και συνεφαγον εκει αρτον εν Μισπα.

Now it came to pass in the seventh month, that Ishmael the son of Nethaniah the son of Elishama, of the seed royal, and the princes of the king, even ten men with him, came unto Gedaliah the son of Ahikam to Mizpah; and there they did eat bread together in Mizpah.

Και εσηκωθη Ισμαηλ ο υιος του Νεθανιου και οι δεκα ανδρες οι οντες μετ αυτου και επαταξαν τον Γεδαλιαν τον υιον του Αχικαμ υιου του Σαφαν δια �ομφαιας και εθανατωσαν αυτον, τον οποιον ο βασιλευς της Βαβυλωνος ειχε καταστησει επι την γην.

Then arose Ishmael the son of Nethaniah, and the ten men that were with him, and smote Gedaliah the son of Ahikam the son of Shaphan with the sword, and slew him, whom the king of Babylon had made governor over the land.

Και παντας τους Ιουδαιους τους οντας μετ αυτου, μετα του Γεδαλιου εν Μισπα, και τους Χαλδαιους τους ευρεθεντας εκει, ανδρας πολεμιστας, επαταξεν ο Ισμαηλ.

Ishmael also slew all the Jews that were with him, even with Gedaliah, at Mizpah, and the Chaldeans that were found there, and the men of war.

Και την δευτεραν ημεραν, αφου εθανατωσε τον Γεδαλιαν, και ουδεις ειχε μαθει αυτο,

And it came to pass the second day after he had slain Gedaliah, and no man knew it,

τοτε τινες απο Συχεμ, απο Σηλω και απο Σαμαρειας, ογδοηκοντα ανδρες, εξυρισμενοι τους πωγωνας και διεσχισμενοι τα ιματια και με εντομας εις το σωμα, ηρχοντο μετα προσφορας και λιβανιου εν τη χειρι αυτων, δια να φερωσιν εις τον οικον του Κυριου.

That there came certain from Shechem, from Shiloh, and from Samaria, even fourscore men, having their beards shaven, and their clothes rent, and having cut themselves, with offerings and incense in their hand, to bring them to the house of the LORD.

Και εξηλθεν Ισμαηλ ο υιος του Νεθανιου εις απαντησιν αυτων εκ Μισπα, κλαιων ενω επορευετο και οτε απηντησεν αυτους, ειπε προς αυτους, Εισελθετε προς Γεδαλιαν τον υιον του Αχικαμ.

And Ishmael the son of Nethaniah went forth from Mizpah to meet them, weeping all along as he went: and it came to pass, as he met them, he said unto them, Come to Gedaliah the son of Ahikam.

Και οτε ηλθον εις το μεσον της πολεως, Ισμαηλ ο υιος του Νεθανιου εσφαξεν αυτους και ερριψεν εις το μεσον του λακκου, αυτος και οι ανδρες οι μετ αυτου.

And it was so, when they came into the midst of the city, that Ishmael the son of Nethaniah slew them, and cast them into the midst of the pit, he, and the men that were with him.

Δεκα ομως ανδρες ευρεθησαν μεταξυ αυτων και ειπον προς τον Ισμαηλ, Μη μας θανατωσης, διοτι εχομεν θησαυρους εν τω αγρω, σιτον και κριθην και ελαιον και μελι. Ουτως εκρατηθη και δεν εθανατωσεν αυτους μεταξυ των αδελφων αυτων.

But ten men were found among them that said unto Ishmael, Slay us not: for we have treasures in the field, of wheat, and of barley, and of oil, and of honey. So he forbare, and slew them not among their brethren.

Ο δε λακκος, εις τον οποιον ο Ισμαηλ ερριψε παντα τα πτωματα των ανδρων, τους οποιους επαταξεν εξ αιτιας του Γεδαλιου, ητο εκεινος, τον οποιον ο βασιλευς Ασα ειχε καμει υπο φοβου του Βαασα βασιλεως του Ισραηλ τουτον ο Ισμαηλ ο υιος του Νεθανιου εγεμισεν απο των θανατωθεντων.

Now the pit wherein Ishmael had cast all the dead bodies of the men, whom he had slain because of Gedaliah, was it which Asa the king had made for fear of Baasha king of Israel: and Ishmael the son of Nethaniah filled it with them that were slain.

Και ηχμαλωτισεν ο Ισμαηλ απαν το υπολοιπον του λαου το εν Μισπα, τας θυγατερας του βασιλεως και παντα τον λαον τον εναπολειφθεντα εν Μισπα, τον οποιον Νεβουζαραδαν ο αρχισωματοφυλαξ ειχεν εμπιστευθη εις τον Γεδαλιαν τον υιον του Αχικαμ και ηχμαλωτισεν αυτα ο Ισμαηλ ο υιος του Νεθανιου και ανεχωρησε, δια να περαση προς τους υιους Αμμων.

Then Ishmael carried away captive all the residue of the people that were in Mizpah, even the king's daughters, and all the people that remained in Mizpah, whom Nebuzar–adan the captain of the guard had committed to Gedaliah the son of Ahikam: and Ishmael the son of Nethaniah carried them away captive, and departed to go over to the Ammonites.

Και οτε ηκουσεν Ιωαναν ο υιος του Καρηα και παντες οι αρχηγοι των στρατευματων οι μετ αυτου παντα τα κακα, τα οποια εκαμεν Ισμαηλ ο υιος του Νεθανιου,

But when Johanan the son of Kareah, and all the captains of the forces that were with him, heard of all the evil that Ishmael the son of Nethaniah had done,

ελαβον παντας τους ανδρας και υπηγαν να πολεμησωσι με τον Ισμαηλ τον υιον του Νεθανιου και ευρηκαν αυτον πλησιον των πολλων υδατων των εν Γαβαων.

Then they took all the men, and went to fight with Ishmael the son of Nethaniah, and found him by the great waters that are in Gibeon.

Και ως ειδε πας ο λαος ο μετα του Ισμαηλ Ιωαναν τον υιον του Καρηα και παντας τους αρχηγους των στρατευματων των μετ αυτου, εχαρησαν.

Now it came to pass, that when all the people which were with Ishmael saw Johanan the son of Kareah, and all the captains of the forces that were with him, then they were glad.

Και εστραφησαν πας ο λαος, τον οποιον ο Ισμαηλ ηχμαλωτισεν απο Μισπα, και επεστρεψαν και υπηγαν μετα του Ιωαναν υιου του Καρηα.

So all the people that Ishmael had carried away captive from Mizpah cast about and returned, and went unto Johanan the son of Kareah.

Αλλ ο Ισμαηλ ο υιος του Νεθανιου εξεφυγεν απο του Ιωαναν μετα οκτω ανδρων και υπηγε προς τους υιους Αμμων.

But Ishmael the son of Nethaniah escaped from Johanan with eight men, and went to the Ammonites.

Και ελαβεν ο Ιωαναν ο υιος του Καρηα και παντες οι αρχηγοι των στρατευματων οι μετ αυτου, απαν το υπολοιπον του λαου, το οποιον ηλευθερωσεν απο του Ισμαηλ υιου του Νεθανιου, απο Μισπα, αφου επαταξε Γεδαλιαν τον υιον του Αχικαμ, τους δυνατους ανδρας του πολεμου και τας γυναικας και τα παιδια και τους ευνουχους, τους οποιους ηχμαλωτισεν απο Γαβαων,

Then took Johanan the son of Kareah, and all the captains of the forces that were with him, all the remnant of the people whom he had recovered from Ishmael the son of Nethaniah, from Mizpah, after that he had slain Gedaliah the son of Ahikam, even mighty men of war, and the women, and the children, and the eunuchs, whom he had brought again from Gibeon:

και υπηγαν και κατωκησαν εν τη κατοικια του Χιμαμ, τη πλησιον της Βηθλεεμ, δια να υπαγωσι να εισελθωσιν εις την Αιγυπτον,

And they departed, and dwelt in the habitation of Chimham, which is by Beth–lehem, to go to enter into Egypt,

εξ αιτιας των Χαλδαιων διοτι εφοβηθησαν απο αυτους, επειδη ο Ισμαηλ ο υιος του Νεθανιου επαταξε τον Γεδαλιαν τον υιον του Αχικαμ, τον οποιον ο βασιλευς της Βαβυλωνος κατεστησεν επι την γην.

Because of the Chaldeans: for they were afraid of them, because Ishmael the son of Nethaniah had slain Gedaliah the son of Ahikam, whom the king of Babylon made governor in the land.
