Ezra 9

Και αφου ετελεσθησαν ταυτα, προσηλθον προς εμε οι αρχοντες, λεγοντες, Ο λαος του Ισραηλ και οι ιερεις και οι Λευιται, δεν εχωρισθησαν απο του λαου των τοπων τουτων, και πραττουσι κατα τα βδελυγματα αυτων, των Χαναναιων, των Χετταιων, των Φερεζαιων, των Ιεβουσαιων, των Αμμωνιτων, των Μωαβιτων, των Αιγυπτιων και των Αμορραιων

Now when these things were done, the princes came to me, saying, The people of Israel, and the priests, and the Levites, have not separated themselves from the people of the lands, doing according to their abominations, even of the Canaanites, the Hittites, the Perizzites, the Jebusites, the Ammonites, the Moabites, the Egyptians, and the Amorites.

διοτι ελαβον εκ των θυγατερων αυτων εις εαυτους και εις τους υιους αυτων ωστε το σπερμα το αγιον συνεμιχθη μετα του λαου των τοπων και η χειρ των αρχοντων και των προεστωτων ητο πρωτη εις την παραβασιν ταυτην.

For they have taken of their daughters for themselves, and for their sons: so that the holy seed have mingled themselves with the people of those lands: yea, the hand of the princes and rulers hath been chief in this trespass.

Και ως ηκουσα το πραγμα τουτο, διεσχισα το ιματιον μου και το επενδυμα μου, και ανεσπασα τας τριχας της κεφαλης μου και του πωγωνος μου, και εκαθημην εκστατικος.

And when I heard this thing, I rent my garment and my mantle, and plucked off the hair of my head and of my beard, and sat down astonied.

Τοτε συνηχθησαν προς εμε παντες οι τρεμοντες εις τους λογους του Θεου του Ισραηλ, δια την παραβασιν των μετοικισθεντων και εκαθημην εκστατικος εως της εσπερινης προσφορας.

Then were assembled unto me every one that trembled at the words of the God of Israel, because of the transgression of those that had been carried away; and I sat astonied until the evening sacrifice.

Και εν τη εσπερινη προσφορα εσηκωθην απο της ταπεινωσεως μου, και διασχισας το ιματιον μου και το επενδυμα μου, εκλινα επι τα γονατα μου και εξετεινα τας χειρας μου προς Κυριον τον Θεον μου,

And at the evening sacrifice I arose up from my heaviness; and having rent my garment and my mantle, I fell upon my knees, and spread out my hands unto the LORD my God,

και ειπον, Θεε μου, αισχυνομαι και ερυθριω να υψωσω το προσωπον μου προς σε, Θεε μου διοτι αι ανομιαι ημων ηυξηνθησαν υπερανω της κεφαλης, και αι παραβασεις ημων εμεγαλυνθησαν εως των ουρανων.

And said, O my God, I am ashamed and blush to lift up my face to thee, my God: for our iniquities are increased over our head, and our trespass is grown up unto the heavens.

Απο των ημερων των πατερων ημων ημεθα εν παραβασει μεγαλη μεχρι της ημερας ταυτης και δια τας ανομιας ημων παρεδοθημεν, ημεις, οι βασιλεις ημων, οι ιερεις ημων, εις την χειρα των βασιλεων των τοπων, εις μαχαιραν, εις αιχμαλωσιαν και εις διαρπαγην και εις αισχυνην προσωπου, ως ειναι την ημεραν ταυτην.

Since the days of our fathers have we been in a great trespass unto this day; and for our iniquities have we, our kings, and our priests, been delivered into the hand of the kings of the lands, to the sword, to captivity, and to a spoil, and to confusion of face, as it is this day.

Και τωρα ως εν μια στιγμη εγεινεν ελεος παρα Κυριου του Θεου ημων, ωστε να διασωθη εις ημας υπολοιπον, και να δοθη εις ημας στερεωσις εν τω αγιω αυτου τοπω, δια να φωτιζη ο Θεος ημων τους οφθαλμους ημων, και να δωση εις ημας μικραν αναψυχην εν τη δουλεια ημων.

And now for a little space grace hath been shewed from the LORD our God, to leave us a remnant to escape, and to give us a nail in his holy place, that our God may lighten our eyes, and give us a little reviving in our bondage.

Διοτι δουλοι ημεθα και εν τη δουλεια ημων δεν εγκατελιπεν ημας ο Θεος ημων, αλλ ηυδοκησε να ευρωμεν ελεος ενωπιον των βασιλεων της Περσιας, ωστε να δωση εις ημας αναψυχην, δια να ανεγειρωμεν τον οικον του Θεου ημων και να ανορθωσωμεν τας ερημωσεις αυτου, και να δωση εις ημας περιτειχισμα εν Ιουδα και εν Ιερουσαλημ.

For we were bondmen; yet our God hath not forsaken us in our bondage, but hath extended mercy unto us in the sight of the kings of Persia, to give us a reviving, to set up the house of our God, and to repair the desolations thereof, and to give us a wall in Judah and in Jerusalem.

Αλλα τωρα, Θεε ημων, τι θελομεν ειπει μετα ταυτα; διοτι εγκατελιπομεν τα προσταγματα σου,

And now, O our God, what shall we say after this? for we have forsaken thy commandments,

τα οποια προσεταξας δια χειρος των δουλων σου των προφητων, λεγων, Η γη, εις την οποιαν εισερχεσθε δια να κληρονομησητε αυτην, ειναι γη μεμολυσμενη με τον μολυσμον των λαων των τοπων, με τα βδελυγματα αυτων, οιτινες εγεμισαν αυτην, απ ακρου εως ακρου, απο των ακαθαρσιων αυτων.

Which thou hast commanded by thy servants the prophets, saying, The land, unto which ye go to possess it, is an unclean land with the filthiness of the people of the lands, with their abominations, which have filled it from one end to another with their uncleanness.

Τωρα λοιπον τας θυγατερας σας μη διδετε εις τους υιους αυτων, και τας θυγατερας αυτων μη λαμβανετε εις τους υιους σας, και μη ζητειτε ποτε την ειρηνην αυτων η την ευτυχιαν αυτων, δια να κραταιωθητε και να τρωγητε τα αγαθα της γης, και να αφησητε αυτην κληρονομιαν εις τους υιους σας δια παντος.

Now therefore give not your daughters unto their sons, neither take their daughters unto your sons, nor seek their peace or their wealth for ever: that ye may be strong, and eat the good of the land, and leave it for an inheritance to your children for ever.

Και μετα παντα τα επελθοντα εφ ημας ενεκα των πραξεων των πονηρων ημων, και της παραβασεως ημων της μεγαλης, αφου συ, Θεε ημων, εκρατηθης κατω της αξιας των ανομιων ημων, και εδωκας εις ημας ελευθερωσιν τοιαυτην,

And after all that is come upon us for our evil deeds, and for our great trespass, seeing that thou our God hast punished us less than our iniquities deserve, and hast given us such deliverance as this;

πρεπει ημεις να αθετησωμεν παλιν τα προσταγματα σου, και να συμπενθερευσωμεν με τον λαον των βδελυγματων τουτων; δεν ηθελες οργισθη καθ ημων, εωσου συντελεσης ημας, ωστε να μη μεινη υπολοιπον η σεσωσμενον;

Should we again break thy commandments, and join in affinity with the people of these abominations? wouldest not thou be angry with us till thou hadst consumed us, so that there should be no remnant nor escaping?

Κυριε Θεε του Ισραηλ, δικαιος εισαι διοτι εμειναμεν σεσωσμενοι, ως την ημεραν ταυτην ιδου, ενωπιον σου ειμεθα με τας παραβασεις ημων διοτι δεν ητο δυνατον ενεκα τουτων να σταθωμεν ενωπιον σου.

O LORD God of Israel, thou art righteous: for we remain yet escaped, as it is this day: behold, we are before thee in our trespasses: for we cannot stand before thee because of this.
