Job 16

Eyüp şöyle yanıtladı:
Then Job answered and said,
“Buna benzer çok şey duydum, Oysa siz avutmuyor, sıkıntı veriyorsunuz.
I have heard many such things: miserable comforters are ye all.
Boş sözleriniz hiç sona ermeyecek mi? Nedir derdiniz, boyuna karşılık veriyorsunuz?
Shall vain words have an end? or what emboldeneth thee that thou answerest?
Yerimde siz olsaydınız, Ben de sizin gibi konuşabilirdim; Size karşı güzel sözler dizer, Başımı sallayabilirdim.
I also could speak as ye do: if your soul were in my soul's stead, I could heap up words against you, and shake mine head at you.
Ağzımdan çıkan sözlerle yüreklendirir, Dudaklarımdan dökülen avutucu sözlerle yatıştırırdım sizi.
But I would strengthen you with my mouth, and the moving of my lips should asswage your grief.
“Konuşsam bile acım dinmez, Sussam ne değişir?
Though I speak, my grief is not asswaged: and though I forbear, what am I eased?
Ey Tanrı, beni tükettin, Bütün ev halkımı dağıttın.
But now he hath made me weary: thou hast made desolate all my company.
Beni sıkıp buruşturdun, bana karşı tanık oldu bu; Zayıflığım kalkmış tanıklık ediyor bana karşı.
And thou hast filled me with wrinkles, which is a witness against me: and my leanness rising up in me beareth witness to my face.
Tanrı öfkeyle saldırıp parçalıyor beni, Dişlerini gıcırdatıyor bana, Düşmanım gözlerini üzerime dikiyor.
He teareth me in his wrath, who hateth me: he gnasheth upon me with his teeth; mine enemy sharpeneth his eyes upon me.
İnsanlar bana dudak büküyor, Aşağılayarak tokat atıyor, Birleşiyorlar bana karşı.
They have gaped upon me with their mouth; they have smitten me upon the cheek reproachfully; they have gathered themselves together against me.
Tanrı haksızlara teslim ediyor beni, Kötülerin kucağına atıyor.
God hath delivered me to the ungodly, and turned me over into the hands of the wicked.
Ben rahat yaşıyordum, ama Tanrı paraladı beni, Boynumdan tutup yere çaldı. Beni hedef yaptı kendine.
I was at ease, but he hath broken me asunder: he hath also taken me by my neck, and shaken me to pieces, and set me up for his mark.
Okçuları beni kuşatıyor, Acımadan böbreklerimi deşiyor, Ödümü yerlere döküyor.
His archers compass me round about, he cleaveth my reins asunder, and doth not spare; he poureth out my gall upon the ground.
Bedenimde gedik üstüne gedik açıyor, Dev gibi üzerime saldırıyor.
He breaketh me with breach upon breach, he runneth upon me like a giant.
“Giymek için çul diktim, Gururumu ayak altına aldım.
I have sewed sackcloth upon my skin, and defiled my horn in the dust.
Ağlamaktan yüzüm kızardı, Gözlerimin altı morardı.
My face is foul with weeping, and on my eyelids is the shadow of death;
Yine de ellerim şiddetten uzak, Duam içtendir.
Not for any injustice in mine hands: also my prayer is pure.
“Ey toprak, kanımı örtme, Feryadım asla dinmesin.
O earth, cover not thou my blood, and let my cry have no place.
Daha şimdiden tanığım göklerde, Beni savunan yücelerdedir.
Also now, behold, my witness is in heaven, and my record is on high.
Dostlarım benimle eğleniyor, Gözlerim Tanrı’ya yaş döküyor;
My friends scorn me: but mine eye poureth out tears unto God.
Tanrı kendisiyle insan arasında İnsanoğluyla komşusu arasında hak arasın diye.
O that one might plead for a man with God, as a man pleadeth for his neighbour!
“Çünkü birkaç yıl sonra, Dönüşü olmayan yolculuğa çıkacağım.
When a few years are come, then I shall go the way whence I shall not return.
