Acts 4

Kâhinler, tapınak koruyucularının komutanı ve Sadukiler, halka seslenmekte olan Petrus’la Yuhanna’nın üzerine yürüdüler.

And as they spake unto the people, the priests, and the captain of the temple, and the Sadducees, came upon them,

Çünkü onların halka öğretmelerine ve İsa’yı örnek göstererek ölülerin dirileceğini söylemelerine çok kızmışlardı.

Being grieved that they taught the people, and preached through Jesus the resurrection from the dead.

Onları yakaladılar, akşam olduğu için ertesi güne dek hapiste tuttular.

And they laid hands on them, and put them in hold unto the next day: for it was now eventide.

Ne var ki, konuşmayı dinlemiş olanların birçoğu iman etti. Böylece imanlı erkeklerin sayısı aşağı yukarı beş bine ulaştı.

Howbeit many of them which heard the word believed; and the number of the men was about five thousand.

Ertesi gün Yahudiler’in yöneticileri, ileri gelenleri ve din bilginleri Yeruşalim’de toplandılar.

And it came to pass on the morrow, that their rulers, and elders, and scribes,

Başkâhin Hanan’ın yanısıra, Kayafa, Yuhanna, İskender ve başkâhin soyundan gelen herkes oradaydı.

And Annas the high priest, and Caiaphas, and John, and Alexander, and as many as were of the kindred of the high priest, were gathered together at Jerusalem.

Petrus’la Yuhanna’yı huzurlarına getirtip onlara, “Siz bunu hangi güçle ya da kimin adına dayanarak yaptınız?” diye sordular.

And when they had set them in the midst, they asked, By what power, or by what name, have ye done this?

O zaman Kutsal Ruh’la dolan Petrus onlara şöyle dedi: “Halkın yöneticileri ve ileri gelenler!

Then Peter, filled with the Holy Ghost, said unto them, Ye rulers of the people, and elders of Israel,

Eğer bugün bir hastaya yapılan iyilik nedeniyle bizden hesap soruluyor ve bu adamın nasıl iyileştiği soruşturuluyorsa, hepiniz ve bütün İsrail halkı şunu bilin: Bu adam, sizin çarmıha gerdiğiniz, ama Tanrı’nın ölümden dirilttiği Nasıralı İsa Mesih’in adı sayesinde önünüzde sapasağlam duruyor.

If we this day be examined of the good deed done to the impotent man, by what means he is made whole;

Eğer bugün bir hastaya yapılan iyilik nedeniyle bizden hesap soruluyor ve bu adamın nasıl iyileştiği soruşturuluyorsa, hepiniz ve bütün İsrail halkı şunu bilin: Bu adam, sizin çarmıha gerdiğiniz, ama Tanrı’nın ölümden dirilttiği Nasıralı İsa Mesih’in adı sayesinde önünüzde sapasağlam duruyor.

Be it known unto you all, and to all the people of Israel, that by the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, whom ye crucified, whom God raised from the dead, even by him doth this man stand here before you whole.

[] İsa, ‘Siz yapıcılar tarafından hiçe sayılan, Ama köşenin baş taşı durumuna gelen taş’ tır.

This is the stone which was set at nought of you builders, which is become the head of the corner.

Başka hiç kimsede kurtuluş yoktur. Bu göğün altında insanlara bağışlanmış, bizi kurtarabilecek başka hiçbir ad yoktur.”

Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved.

Kurul üyeleri, Petrus’la Yuhanna’nın yürekliliğini görüp de bunların eğitim görmemiş, sıradan kişiler olduklarını anlayınca şaştılar ve onların İsa’yla birlikte bulunduklarını farkettiler.

Now when they saw the boldness of Peter and John, and perceived that they were unlearned and ignorant men, they marvelled; and they took knowledge of them, that they had been with Jesus.

İyileştirilen adam, Petrus ve Yuhanna’yla birlikte gözleri önünde duruyordu; bunun için hiçbir karşılık veremediler.

And beholding the man which was healed standing with them, they could say nothing against it.

Kurul üyeleri onlara dışarı çıkmalarını buyurduktan sonra durumu kendi aralarında tartışmaya başladılar.

But when they had commanded them to go aside out of the council, they conferred among themselves,

“Bu adamları ne yapacağız?” dediler. “Yeruşalim’de yaşayan herkes, bunların eliyle olağanüstü bir belirti gerçekleştirildiğini biliyor. Biz bunu inkâr edemeyiz.

Saying, What shall we do to these men? for that indeed a notable miracle hath been done by them is manifest to all them that dwell in Jerusalem; and we cannot deny it.

Ama bu haberin halk arasında daha çok yayılmasını önlemek için onları tehdit edelim ki, bundan böyle İsa’nın adından kimseye söz etmesinler.”

But that it spread no further among the people, let us straitly threaten them, that they speak henceforth to no man in this name.

Böylece onları çağırdılar, İsa’nın adını hiç anmamalarını, o adı kullanarak hiçbir şey öğretmemelerini buyurdular.

And they called them, and commanded them not to speak at all nor teach in the name of Jesus.

Ama Petrus’la Yuhanna şöyle karşılık verdiler: “Tanrı’nın önünde, Tanrı’nın sözünü değil de sizin sözünüzü dinlemek doğru mudur, kendiniz karar verin.

But Peter and John answered and said unto them, Whether it be right in the sight of God to hearken unto you more than unto God, judge ye.

Biz gördüklerimizi ve işittiklerimizi anlatmadan edemeyiz.”

For we cannot but speak the things which we have seen and heard.

Kurul üyeleri onları bir daha tehdit ettikten sonra serbest bıraktılar; onları cezalandırmak için hiçbir gerekçe bulamamışlardı. Çünkü bütün halk, olup bitenler için Tanrı’yı yüceltiyordu.

So when they had further threatened them, they let them go, finding nothing how they might punish them, because of the people: for all men glorified God for that which was done.

Nitekim bu mucize sonucu iyileşen adamın yaşı kırkı geçmişti.

For the man was above forty years old, on whom this miracle of healing was shewed.

Serbest bırakılan Petrus’la Yuhanna, arkadaşlarının yanına dönerek başkâhinlerle ileri gelenlerin kendilerine söylediği her şeyi bildirdiler.

And being let go, they went to their own company, and reported all that the chief priests and elders had said unto them.

[] Arkadaşları bunu duyunca hep birlikte Tanrı’ya şöyle seslendiler: “Ey Efendimiz! Yeri göğü, denizi ve onların içindekilerin tümünü yaratan sensin.

And when they heard that, they lifted up their voice to God with one accord, and said, Lord, thou art God, which hast made heaven, and earth, and the sea, and all that in them is:

[] Kutsal Ruh aracılığıyla kulun atamız Davut’un ağzından şöyle dedin: ‘Uluslar neden hiddetlendi, Halklar neden boş düzenler kurdu?

Who by the mouth of thy servant David hast said, Why did the heathen rage, and the people imagine vain things?

Dünyanın kralları saf bağladı, Hükümdarlar birleşti Rab’be ve Mesihi’ne karşı.’

The kings of the earth stood up, and the rulers were gathered together against the Lord, and against his Christ.

[] “Gerçekten de Hirodes ile Pontius Pilatus, bu kentte İsrail halkı ve öteki uluslarla birlikte senin meshettiğin kutsal Kulun İsa’ya karşı bir araya geldiler. Senin kendi gücün ve isteğinle önceden kararlaştırdığın her şeyi gerçekleştirdiler.

For of a truth against thy holy child Jesus, whom thou hast anointed, both Herod, and Pontius Pilate, with the Gentiles, and the people of Israel, were gathered together,

[] “Gerçekten de Hirodes ile Pontius Pilatus, bu kentte İsrail halkı ve öteki uluslarla birlikte senin meshettiğin kutsal Kulun İsa’ya karşı bir araya geldiler. Senin kendi gücün ve isteğinle önceden kararlaştırdığın her şeyi gerçekleştirdiler.

For to do whatsoever thy hand and thy counsel determined before to be done.

Ve şimdi ya Rab, onların savurduğu tehditlere bak! Senin sözünü tam bir yüreklilikle duyurmak için biz kullarına güç ver.

And now, Lord, behold their threatenings: and grant unto thy servants, that with all boldness they may speak thy word,

Kutsal Kulun İsa’nın adıyla hastaları iyileştirmek için, belirtiler ve harikalar yapmak için elini uzat.”

By stretching forth thine hand to heal; and that signs and wonders may be done by the name of thy holy child Jesus.

Duaları bitince toplandıkları yer sarsıldı. Hepsi Kutsal Ruh’la doldular ve Tanrı’nın sözünü cesaretle duyurmaya devam ettiler.

And when they had prayed, the place was shaken where they were assembled together; and they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and they spake the word of God with boldness.

[] İnananlar topluluğunun yüreği ve düşüncesi birdi. Hiç kimse sahip olduğu herhangi bir şey için “Bu benimdir” demiyor, her şeylerini ortak kabul ediyorlardı.

And the multitude of them that believed were of one heart and of one soul: neither said any of them that ought of the things which he possessed was his own; but they had all things common.

Elçiler, Rab İsa’nın ölümden dirildiğine çok etkili bir biçimde tanıklık ediyorlardı. Tanrı’nın büyük lütfu hepsinin üzerindeydi.

And with great power gave the apostles witness of the resurrection of the Lord Jesus: and great grace was upon them all.

Aralarında yoksul olan yoktu. Çünkü toprak ya da ev sahibi olanlar bunları satar, sattıklarının bedelini getirip elçilerin buyruğuna verirlerdi; bu da herkese ihtiyacına göre dağıtılırdı.

Neither was there any among them that lacked: for as many as were possessors of lands or houses sold them, and brought the prices of the things that were sold,

Aralarında yoksul olan yoktu. Çünkü toprak ya da ev sahibi olanlar bunları satar, sattıklarının bedelini getirip elçilerin buyruğuna verirlerdi; bu da herkese ihtiyacına göre dağıtılırdı.

And laid them down at the apostles' feet: and distribution was made unto every man according as he had need.

And Joses, who by the apostles was surnamed Barnabas, (which is, being interpreted, The son of consolation,) a Levite, and of the country of Cyprus,

Having land, sold it, and brought the money, and laid it at the apostles' feet.
