Acts 15

Og det kom nogen ned fra Judea og lærte brødrene: Dersom I ikke blir omskåret efter Mose skikk, kan I ikke bli frelst.

And certain men which came down from Judæa taught the brethren, and said, Except ye be circumcised after the manner of Moses, ye cannot be saved.

Da det nu opstod strid, og Paulus og Barnabas fikk et ikke lite ordskifte med dem, vedtok de at Paulus og Barnabas og nogen andre av dem skulde dra op til apostlene og de eldste i Jerusalem og legge dette spørsmål frem for dem.

When therefore Paul and Barnabas had no small dissension and disputation with them, they determined that Paul and Barnabas, and certain other of them, should go up to Jerusalem unto the apostles and elders about this question.

Menigheten fulgte dem da et stykke på veien, og så drog de gjennem Fønikia og Samaria, idet de fortalte om hedningenes omvendelse, og de vakte stor glede hos alle brødrene.

And being brought on their way by the church, they passed through Phenice and Samaria, declaring the conversion of the Gentiles: and they caused great joy unto all the brethren.

Og da de kom frem til Jerusalem, blev de mottatt av menigheten og apostlene og de eldste, og de fortalte hvor store ting Gud hadde gjort ved dem.

And when they were come to Jerusalem, they were received of the church, and of the apostles and elders, and they declared all things that God had done with them.

Men det reiste sig nogen av fariseernes parti som hadde tatt ved troen, og sa: De må omskjæres og bydes å holde Mose lov.

But there rose up certain of the sect of the Pharisees which believed, saying, That it was needful to circumcise them, and to command them to keep the law of Moses.

Apostlene og de eldste kom da sammen for å overveie denne sak.

And the apostles and elders came together for to consider of this matter.

Da det nu blev et skarpt ordskifte, stod Peter op og sa til dem: Brødre! I vet at allerede for lenge siden gjorde Gud det valg iblandt eder at ved min munn skulde hedningene få høre evangeliets ord og komme til troen.

And when there had been much disputing, Peter rose up, and said unto them, Men and brethren, ye know how that a good while ago God made choice among us, that the Gentiles by my mouth should hear the word of the gospel, and believe.

Og Gud, som kjenner hjertene, gav dem vidnesbyrd, idet han gav dem likesom oss den Hellige Ånd,

And God, which knoweth the hearts, bare them witness, giving them the Holy Ghost, even as he did unto us;

og han gjorde ingen forskjell mellem oss og dem, idet han ved troen renset deres hjerter.

And put no difference between us and them, purifying their hearts by faith.

Hvorfor frister I da nu Gud ved å legge et åk på disiplenes nakke som hverken våre fedre eller vi var i stand til å bære?

Now therefore why tempt ye God, to put a yoke upon the neck of the disciples, which neither our fathers nor we were able to bear?

Men ved den Herre Jesu nåde tror vi at vi blir frelst, på samme måte som de.

But we believe that through the grace of the Lord Jesus Christ we shall be saved, even as they.

Da tidde hele mengden, og de hørte på Barnabas og Paulus, som fortalte hvor store tegn og undergjerninger Gud hadde gjort blandt hedningene ved dem.

Then all the multitude kept silence, and gave audience to Barnabas and Paul, declaring what miracles and wonders God had wrought among the Gentiles by them.

Og da de hadde holdt op å tale, tok Jakob til orde og sa: Brødre! Hør på mig:

And after they had held their peace, James answered, saying, Men and brethren, hearken unto me:

Simeon har fortalt hvorledes Gud fra først av drog omsorg for å få et folk av hedninger for sitt navn.

Simeon hath declared how God at the first did visit the Gentiles, to take out of them a people for his name.

Og dermed stemmer profetenes ord overens, således som det er skrevet:

And to this agree the words of the prophets; as it is written,

Derefter vil jeg vende tilbake og igjen opbygge Davids falne hytte, og det nedbrutte av den vil jeg atter opbygge, og jeg vil igjen opreise den,

After this I will return, and will build again the tabernacle of David, which is fallen down; and I will build again the ruins thereof, and I will set it up:

forat alle andre mennesker skal søke Herren, ja alle hedningefolkene, som mitt navn er blitt nevnt over, sier Herren, som gjør dette

That the residue of men might seek after the Lord, and all the Gentiles, upon whom my name is called, saith the Lord, who doeth all these things.

som er kjent av ham fra evighet av.

Known unto God are all his works from the beginning of the world.

Derfor mener jeg at vi ikke skal gjøre det tungt for dem av hedningene som omvender sig til Gud,

Wherefore my sentence is, that we trouble not them, which from among the Gentiles are turned to God:

men skrive til dem at de skal avholde sig fra avgudenes urenhet og fra hor og fra det som er kvalt, og fra blod.

But that we write unto them, that they abstain from pollutions of idols, and from fornication, and from things strangled, and from blood.

For Moses har fra gammel tid av i hver by dem som forkynner ham, idet han hver sabbat opleses i synagogene.

For Moses of old time hath in every city them that preach him, being read in the synagogues every sabbath day.

Da vedtok apostlene og de eldste sammen med hele menigheten å velge nogen menn iblandt sig og sende dem til Antiokia sammen med Paulus og Barnabas; det var Judas med tilnavnet Barsabbas og Silas, som var høit aktede menn blandt brødrene,

Then pleased it the apostles and elders, with the whole church, to send chosen men of their own company to Antioch with Paul and Barnabas; namely, Judas surnamed Barsabas, and Silas, chief men among the brethren:

og de skrev således med dem: Apostlene og eldste-brødrene hilser brødrene av hedningene i Antiokia og Syria og Kilikia.

And they wrote letters by them after this manner; The apostles and elders and brethren send greeting unto the brethren which are of the Gentiles in Antioch and Syria and Cilicia:

Eftersom vi har fått høre at nogen som er kommet fra oss, har forvirret eder ved sin tale og vakt uro i eders sjeler vi har ikke gitt dem noget pålegg

Forasmuch as we have heard, that certain which went out from us have troubled you with words, subverting your souls, saying, Ye must be circumcised, and keep the law: to whom we gave no such commandment:

så har vi, efterat vi var kommet til enighet i denne sak, vedtatt å velge nogen menn og sende dem til eder sammen med våre elskede brødre Barnabas og Paulus,

It seemed good unto us, being assembled with one accord, to send chosen men unto you with our beloved Barnabas and Paul,

menn som har våget sitt liv for vår Herre Jesu Kristi navns skyld.

Men that have hazarded their lives for the name of our Lord Jesus Christ.

Vi har da sendt Judas og Silas, som også skal forkynne eder det samme muntlig.

We have sent therefore Judas and Silas, who shall also tell you the same things by mouth.

For den Hellige Ånd og vi har besluttet ikke å legge nogen annen tyngsel på eder enn disse nødvendige ting:

For it seemed good to the Holy Ghost, and to us, to lay upon you no greater burden than these necessary things;

at I avholder eder fra avgudsoffer og blod og det som er kvalt, og hor; dersom I vokter eder for disse ting, vil det gå eder vel. Lev vel!

That ye abstain from meats offered to idols, and from blood, and from things strangled, and from fornication: from which if ye keep yourselves, ye shall do well. Fare ye well.

Da nu disse var sendt avsted, kom de til Antiokia, og de samlet hele menigheten og gav dem brevet.

So when they were dismissed, they came to Antioch: and when they had gathered the multitude together, they delivered the epistle:

Da de hadde lest det, blev de glade over trøsten de fikk.

Which when they had read, they rejoiced for the consolation.

Judas og Silas, som selv var profeter, trøstet brødrene med mange ord og styrket dem,

And Judas and Silas, being prophets also themselves, exhorted the brethren with many words, and confirmed them.

og efterat de hadde vært en tid der, lot brødrene dem fare med fred til dem som hadde utsendt dem.

And after they had tarried there a space, they were let go in peace from the brethren unto the apostles.

Silas fant det best å bli der.

Notwithstanding it pleased Silas to abide there still.

Men Paulus og Barnabas blev i Antiokia, og de lærte og forkynte Herrens ord ved evangeliet sammen med mange andre.

Paul also and Barnabas continued in Antioch, teaching and preaching the word of the Lord, with many others also.

Men nogen tid derefter sa Paulus til Barnabas: La oss nu vende tilbake og se til brødrene i enhver by hvor vi forkynte Herrens ord, hvorledes de har det!

And some days after Paul said unto Barnabas, Let us go again and visit our brethren in every city where we have preached the word of the Lord, and see how they do.

Barnabas vilde også ta med Johannes som kaltes Markus;

And Barnabas determined to take with them John, whose surname was Mark.

men Paulus syntes ikke at de skulde ta ham med som hadde skilt sig fra dem i Pamfylia og ikke var gått med dem til deres gjerning.

But Paul thought not good to take him with them, who departed from them from Pamphylia, and went not with them to the work.

Det kom da til en skarp strid, så de skiltes fra hverandre, og Barnabas tok Markus med sig og seilte avsted til Kypern;

And the contention was so sharp between them, that they departed asunder one from the other: and so Barnabas took Mark, and sailed unto Cyprus;

men Paulus valgte Silas til sin følgesvenn og drog ut, efterat brødrene hadde overgitt ham til Herrens nåde.

And Paul chose Silas, and departed, being recommended by the brethren unto the grace of God.

Og han drog igjennem Syria og Kilikia og styrket menighetene.

And he went through Syria and Cilicia, confirming the churches.
