Nehemiah 5

Katahi ka nui atu te karanga a te iwi, ratou ko a ratou wahine, he whakahe mo o ratou tuakana, teina, mo nga Hurai.

Und es entstand ein großes Geschrei des Volkes und ihrer Weiber gegen ihre Brüder, die Juden.

Und es gab solche, die da sprachen: Unserer Söhne und unserer Töchter, unser sind viele; und wir müssen Getreide erhalten, daß wir essen und leben!

Und es gab solche, die da sprachen: Wir haben Geld entlehnt auf unsere Felder und unsere Weinberge für die Steuer des Königs.

Und nun, unser Fleisch ist wie das Fleisch unserer Brüder, unsere Kinder sind wie ihre Kinder; und siehe, wir müssen unsere Söhne und unsere Töchter dem Knechtsdienst unterwerfen; und manche von unseren Töchtern sind schon unterworfen, und es steht nicht in der Macht unserer Hände, sie zu lösen; unsere Felder und unsere Weinberge gehören ja anderen.

Und als ich ihr Geschrei und diese Worte hörte, wurde ich sehr zornig.

und ich sprach zu ihnen: Wir haben unsere Brüder, die Juden, welche den Nationen verkauft waren, soweit es uns möglich war, losgekauft; und ihr wollt gar eure Brüder verkaufen? Und sie sollen sich uns verkaufen? Da schwiegen sie und fanden keine Antwort.

Und ich sprach: Nicht gut ist die Sache, die ihr tut! Solltet ihr nicht in der Furcht unseres Gottes wandeln, daß wir nicht den Nationen, unseren Feinden, zum Hohne seien?

Na, ko ahau, ko oku teina, me aku tangata, e tuku ana he moni, he witi ki a ratou mo te moni whakatupu. Tena ra, kia whakarerea atu e tatou tenei mahi tango i te moni whakatupu.

Aber auch ich, meine Brüder und meine Diener, wir haben ihnen Geld und Getreide auf Zins geliehen. Laßt uns doch diesen Zins erlassen!

Tena, whakahokia atu ki a ratou i tenei ra nei ano o ratou whenua, a ratou mara waina, mara oriwa, me o ratou whare me te wahi whakarau o te moni, o te witi, o te waina, o te hinu, e tangohia nei e koutou i a ratou.

Gebet ihnen doch gleich heute ihre Felder, ihre Weinberge, ihre Olivengärten und ihre Häuser zurück; und erlaßt ihnen den Hundertsten von dem Gelde und dem Getreide, dem Moste und dem Öle, welches ihr ihnen auf Zins geliehen habt.

Katahi ratou ka ki mai, Me whakahoki atu e matou, e kore ano e tonoa e matou he mea i a ratou: ka rite ta matou e mea ai ki tau i ki mai na. Katahi ka karangatia e ahau nga tohunga, a ka meinga e ahau kia oati, mo tenei kupu kia mahia.

Da sprachen sie: Wir wollen es zurückgeben und nichts von ihnen fordern; wir wollen also tun, wie du sagst. Und ich rief die Priester und ließ sie schwören, nach diesem Worte zu tun.

Auch schüttelte ich meinen Busen aus und sprach: So möge Gott jedermann, der dieses Wort nicht aufrecht halten wird, aus seinem Hause und aus seinem Erwerbe schütteln; und so sei er ausgeschüttelt und ausgeleert! Und die ganze Versammlung sprach: Amen! Und sie lobten Jehova. Und das Volk tat nach diesem Worte.

Auch von dem Tage an, da er mich bestellt hatte, um ihr Landpfleger zu sein im Lande Juda, vom 20 Jahre bis zum 32 Jahre des Königs Artasasta, zwölf Jahre lang, habe ich mit meinen Brüdern die Speise des Landpflegers nicht gegessen.

Aber die früheren Landpfleger, die vor mir gewesen waren, hatten das Volk beschwert und Brot und Wein von ihnen genommen, nebst vierzig Sekel Silber; auch ihre Diener schalteten willkürlich über das Volk. Ich aber tat nicht also, aus Furcht vor Gott.

Und auch an dem Werke dieser Mauer griff ich mit an; und wir kauften kein Feld; und alle meine Diener waren daselbst zum Werke versammelt.

Und die Juden, sowohl die Vorsteher, 150 Mann, als auch die, welche aus den Nationen, die ringsumher wohnten, zu uns kamen, waren an meinem Tische.

Na, ko nga mea i taka maku i te ra kotahi, kotahi puru, e ono hipi, he mea pai; i taka ano etahi manu naku, a, kotahi i roto i nga ra kotahi tekau, ko nga tu waina katoa, tona nui; na ahakoa ko tenei katoa kihai ahau i mea ki te taro kawana, no te mea he taimaha rawa te hereherenga o tenei iwi.

Und was für einen Tag zubereitet wurde: ein Rind, sechs ausgewählte Schafe und Geflügel wurden mir zubereitet; und alle zehn Tage an allerlei Wein die Fülle; und trotzdem forderte ich nicht die Speise des Landpflegers, denn der Dienst lastete schwer auf diesem Volke.

Kia mahara mai ki ahau, e toku Atua, mo te pai, kia rite ki aku mea katoa i mea ai ahau ki tenei iwi.

Gedenke mir, mein Gott, zum Guten, alles, was ich für dieses Volk getan habe!
