Obadiah 1

The vision of Obadiah. Thus saith the Lord GOD concerning Edom; We have heard a rumour from the LORD, and an ambassador is sent among the heathen, Arise ye, and let us rise up against her in battle.

ذیل میں وہ رویا قلم بند ہے جو عبدیاہ نے دیکھی۔ اُس میں وہ کچھ بیان کیا گیا ہے جو رب قادرِ مطلق نے ادوم کے بارے میں فرمایا۔ ہم نے رب کی طرف سے پیغام سنا ہے، ایک قاصد کو اقوام کے پاس بھیجا گیا ہے جو اُنہیں حکم دے، ”اُٹھو! آؤ، ہم ادوم سے لڑنے کے لئے تیار ہو جائیں۔“

Behold, I have made thee small among the heathen: thou art greatly despised.

رب ادوم سے فرماتا ہے، ”مَیں تجھے قوموں میں چھوٹا بنا دوں گا، اور تجھے بہت حقیر جانا جائے گا۔

The pride of thine heart hath deceived thee, thou that dwellest in the clefts of the rock, whose habitation is high; that saith in his heart, Who shall bring me down to the ground?

تیرے دل کے غرور نے تجھے فریب دیا ہے۔ چونکہ تُو چٹانوں کی دراڑوں میں اور بلندیوں پر رہتا ہے اِس لئے تُو دل میں سوچتا ہے، ’کون مجھے یہاں سے اُتار دے گا‘؟“

Though thou exalt thyself as the eagle, and though thou set thy nest among the stars, thence will I bring thee down, saith the LORD.

لیکن رب فرماتا ہے، ”خواہ تُو اپنا گھونسلا عقاب کی طرح بلندی پر کیوں نہ بنائے بلکہ اُسے ستاروں کے درمیان لگا لے، توبھی مَیں تجھے وہاں سے اُتار کر خاک میں ملا دوں گا۔

If thieves came to thee, if robbers by night, (how art thou cut off!) would they not have stolen till they had enough? if the grapegatherers came to thee, would they not leave some grapes?

اگر ڈاکو رات کے وقت تجھے لُوٹ لیتے تو وہ صرف اُتنا ہی چھین لیتے جتنا اُٹھا کر لے جا سکتے ہیں۔ اگر تُو انگور کا باغ ہوتا اور مزدور فصل چننے کے لئے آتے تو تھوڑا بہت اُن کے پیچھے رہ جاتا۔ لیکن تیرا انجام اِس سے کہیں زیادہ بُرا ہو گا۔

How are the things of Esau searched out! how are his hidden things sought up!

دشمن عیسَو کے کونے کونے کا کھوج لگا لگا کر اُس کے تمام پوشیدہ خزانے لُوٹ لے گا۔

All the men of thy confederacy have brought thee even to the border: the men that were at peace with thee have deceived thee, and prevailed against thee; they that eat thy bread have laid a wound under thee: there is none understanding in him.

تیرے تمام اتحادی تجھے ملک کی سرحد تک بھگا دیں گے، تیرے دوست تجھے فریب دے کر تجھ پر غالب آئیں گے۔ بلکہ تیری روٹی کھانے والے ہی تیرے لئے پھندا لگائیں گے، اور تجھے پتا نہیں چلے گا۔“

Shall I not in that day, saith the LORD, even destroy the wise men out of Edom, and understanding out of the mount of Esau?

رب فرماتا ہے، ”اُس دن مَیں ادوم کے دانش مندوں کو تباہ کر دوں گا۔ تب عیسَو کے پہاڑی علاقے میں سمجھ اور عقل کا نام و نشان نہیں رہے گا۔

And thy mighty men, O Teman, shall be dismayed, to the end that every one of the mount of Esau may be cut off by slaughter.

اے تیمان، تیرے سورمے بھی سخت دہشت کھائیں گے، کیونکہ اُس وقت عیسَو کے پہاڑی علاقے میں قتل و غارت عام ہو گی، کوئی نہیں بچے گا۔

For thy violence against thy brother Jacob shame shall cover thee, and thou shalt be cut off for ever.

تُو نے اپنے بھائی یعقوب پر ظلم و تشدد کیا، اِس لئے تیری خوب رُسوائی ہو جائے گی، تجھے یوں مٹایا جائے گا کہ آئندہ تیرا نام و نشان تک نہیں رہے گا۔

In the day that thou stoodest on the other side, in the day that the strangers carried away captive his forces, and foreigners entered into his gates, and cast lots upon Jerusalem, even thou wast as one of them.

جب اجنبی فوجی یروشلم کے دروازوں میں گھس آئے تو تُو فاصلے پر کھڑا ہو کر اُن جیسا تھا۔ جب اُنہوں نے تمام مال و دولت چھین لیا، جب اُنہوں نے قرعہ ڈال کر آپس میں یروشلم کو بانٹ لیا تو تُو نے اُن کا ہی رویہ اپنا لیا۔

But thou shouldest not have looked on the day of thy brother in the day that he became a stranger; neither shouldest thou have rejoiced over the children of Judah in the day of their destruction; neither shouldest thou have spoken proudly in the day of distress.

تجھے تیرے بھائی اسرائیل کی بدقسمتی پر خوشی نہیں منانی چاہئے تھی۔ مناسب نہیں تھا کہ تُو یہوداہ کے باشندوں کی تباہی پر شادیانہ بجاتا۔ اُن کی مصیبت دیکھ کر تجھے شیخی نہیں مارنی چاہئے تھی۔

Thou shouldest not have entered into the gate of my people in the day of their calamity; yea, thou shouldest not have looked on their affliction in the day of their calamity, nor have laid hands on their substance in the day of their calamity;

یہ ٹھیک نہیں تھا کہ تُو اُس دن تباہ شدہ شہر میں گھس آیا تاکہ یروشلم کی مصیبت سے لطف اُٹھائے اور اُن کا بچا کھچا مال لُوٹ لے۔

Neither shouldest thou have stood in the crossway, to cut off those of his that did escape; neither shouldest thou have delivered up those of his that did remain in the day of distress.

کتنی بُری بات تھی کہ تُو شہر سے نکلنے والے راستوں پر تاک میں بیٹھ گیا تاکہ وہاں سے بھاگنے والوں کو تباہ کرے اور بچے ہوؤں کو دشمن کے حوالے کرے۔

For the day of the LORD is near upon all the heathen: as thou hast done, it shall be done unto thee: thy reward shall return upon thine own head.

کیونکہ رب کا دن تمام اقوام کے لئے قریب آ گیا ہے۔ جو سلوک تُو نے دوسروں کے ساتھ کیا وہی سلوک تیرے ساتھ کیا جائے گا۔ تیرا غلط کام تیرے اپنے ہی سر پر آئے گا۔

For as ye have drunk upon my holy mountain, so shall all the heathen drink continually, yea, they shall drink, and they shall swallow down, and they shall be as though they had not been.

پہلے تمہیں میرے مُقدّس پہاڑ پر میرے غضب کا پیالہ پینا پڑا، لیکن اب تمام دیگر اقوام اُسے پیتی رہیں گی۔ بلکہ وہ اُسے پی پی کر خالی کریں گی، اُنہیں اُس کے آخری قطرے بھی چاٹنے پڑیں گے۔ پھر اُن کا نام و نشان نہیں رہے گا، ایسا لگے گا کہ وہ کبھی تھیں نہیں۔

But upon mount Zion shall be deliverance, and there shall be holiness; and the house of Jacob shall possess their possessions.

لیکن کوہِ صیون پر نجات ہو گی، یروشلم مُقدّس ہو گا۔ تب یعقوب کا گھرانا دوبارہ اپنی موروثی زمین پر قبضہ کرے گا،

And the house of Jacob shall be a fire, and the house of Joseph a flame, and the house of Esau for stubble, and they shall kindle in them, and devour them; and there shall not be any remaining of the house of Esau; for the LORD hath spoken it.

اور اسرائیلی قوم بھڑکتی آگ بن کر ادوم کو بھوسے کی طرح بھسم کرے گی۔ ادوم کا ایک شخص بھی نہیں بچے گا۔ کیونکہ رب نے یہ فرمایا ہے۔

And they of the south shall possess the mount of Esau; and they of the plain the Philistines: and they shall possess the fields of Ephraim, and the fields of Samaria: and Benjamin shall possess Gilead.

تب نجب یعنی جنوب کے باشندے ادوم کے پہاڑی علاقے پر قبضہ کریں گے، اور مغرب کے نشیبی پہاڑی علاقے کے باشندے فلستیوں کا علاقہ اپنا لیں گے۔ وہ افرائیم اور سامریہ کے علاقوں پر بھی قبضہ کریں گے۔ جِلعاد کا علاقہ بن یمین کے قبیلے کی ملکیت بنے گا۔

And the captivity of this host of the children of Israel shall possess that of the Canaanites, even unto Zarephath; and the captivity of Jerusalem, which is in Sepharad, shall possess the cities of the south.

اسرائیل کے جلاوطنوں کو کنعانیوں کا ملک شمالی شہر صارپت تک حاصل ہو گا جبکہ یروشلم کے جو باشندے جلاوطن ہو کر سفاراد میں جا بسے وہ جنوبی علاقے نجب پر قبضہ کریں گے۔

And saviours shall come up on mount Zion to judge the mount of Esau; and the kingdom shall be the LORD'S.

نجات دینے والے کوہِ صیون پر آ کر ادوم کے پہاڑی علاقے پر حکومت کریں گے۔ تب رب ہی بادشاہ ہو گا!“
