Micah 6

Hear ye now what the LORD saith; Arise, contend thou before the mountains, and let the hills hear thy voice.

اے اسرائیل، رب کا فرمان سن، ”عدالت میں کھڑے ہو کر اپنا معاملہ بیان کر! پہاڑ اور پہاڑیاں تیرے گواہ ہوں، اُنہیں اپنی بات سنا دے۔“

Hear ye, O mountains, the LORD'S controversy, and ye strong foundations of the earth: for the LORD hath a controversy with his people, and he will plead with Israel.

اے پہاڑو، اب رب کا اپنی قوم پر الزام سنو! اے دنیا کی قدیم بنیادو، توجہ دو! کیونکہ رب عدالت میں اپنی قوم پر الزام لگا رہا ہے، وہ اسرائیل سے مقدمہ اُٹھا رہا ہے۔

O my people, what have I done unto thee? and wherein have I wearied thee? testify against me.

وہ سوال کرتا ہے، ”اے میری قوم، مَیں نے تیرے ساتھ کیا غلط سلوک کیا؟ مَیں نے کیا کِیا کہ تُو اِتنی تھک گئی ہے؟ بتا تو سہی!

For I brought thee up out of the land of Egypt, and redeemed thee out of the house of servants; and I sent before thee Moses, Aaron, and Miriam.

حقیقت تو یہ ہے کہ مَیں تجھے ملکِ مصر سے نکال لایا، مَیں نے فدیہ دے کر تجھے غلامی سے رِہا کر دیا۔ ساتھ ساتھ مَیں نے موسیٰ، ہارون اور مریم کو بھیجا تاکہ تیرے آگے چل کر تیری راہنمائی کریں۔

O my people, remember now what Balak king of Moab consulted, and what Balaam the son of Beor answered him from Shittim unto Gilgal; that ye may know the righteousness of the LORD.

اے میری قوم، وہ وقت یاد کر جب موآب کے بادشاہ بلق نے بلعام بن بعور کو بُلایا تاکہ تجھ پر لعنت بھیجے۔ لعنت کی بجائے اُس نے تجھے برکت دی! وہ سفر بھی یاد کر جب تُو شِطّیم سے روانہ ہو کر جِلجال پہنچی۔ اگر تُو اِن تمام باتوں پر غور کرے تو جان لے گی کہ رب نے کتنی وفاداری اور انصاف سے تیرے ساتھ سلوک کیا ہے۔“

Wherewith shall I come before the LORD, and bow myself before the high God? shall I come before him with burnt offerings, with calves of a year old?

جب ہم رب کے حضور آتے ہیں تاکہ اللہ تعالیٰ کو سجدہ کریں تو ہمیں اپنے ساتھ کیا لانا چاہئے؟ کیا ہمیں یک سالہ بچھڑے اُس کے حضور لا کر بھسم کرنے چاہئیں؟

Will the LORD be pleased with thousands of rams, or with ten thousands of rivers of oil? shall I give my firstborn for my transgression, the fruit of my body for the sin of my soul?

کیا رب ہزاروں مینڈھوں یا تیل کی بےشمار ندیوں سے خوش ہو جائے گا؟ کیا مجھے اپنے پہلوٹھے کو اپنے جرائم کے عوض چڑھانا چاہئے، اپنے جسم کے پھل کو اپنے گناہوں کو مٹانے کے لئے پیش کرنا چاہئے؟ ہرگز نہیں!

He hath shewed thee, O man, what is good; and what doth the LORD require of thee, but to do justly, and to love mercy, and to walk humbly with thy God?

اے انسان، اُس نے تجھے صاف بتایا ہے کہ کیا کچھ اچھا ہے۔ رب تجھ سے چاہتا ہے کہ تُو انصاف قائم رکھے، مہربانی کرنے میں لگا رہے اور فروتنی سے اپنے خدا کے حضور چلتا رہے۔

The LORD'S voice crieth unto the city, and the man of wisdom shall see thy name: hear ye the rod, and who hath appointed it.

سنو! رب یروشلم کو آواز دے رہا ہے۔ توجہ دو، کیونکہ دانش مند اُس کے نام کا خوف مانتا ہے۔ اے قبیلے، دھیان دو کہ کس نے یہ مقرر کیا ہے،

Are there yet the treasures of wickedness in the house of the wicked, and the scant measure that is abominable?

”اب تک ناجائز نفع کی دولت بےدین آدمی کے گھر میں جمع ہو رہی ہے، اب تک لوگ گندم بیچتے وقت پورا تول نہیں تولتے، اُن کی غلط پیمائش پر لعنت!

Shall I count them pure with the wicked balances, and with the bag of deceitful weights?

کیا مَیں اُس آدمی کو بَری قرار دوں جو غلط ترازو استعمال کرتا ہے اور جس کی تھیلی میں ہلکے باٹ پڑے رہتے ہیں؟ ہرگز نہیں!

For the rich men thereof are full of violence, and the inhabitants thereof have spoken lies, and their tongue is deceitful in their mouth.

یروشلم کے امیر بڑے ظالم ہیں، لیکن باقی باشندے بھی جھوٹ بولتے ہیں، اُن کی ہر بات دھوکا ہی دھوکا ہے!

Therefore also will I make thee sick in smiting thee, in making thee desolate because of thy sins.

اِس لئے مَیں تجھے مار مار کر زخمی کروں گا۔ مَیں تجھے تیرے گناہوں کے بدلے میں تباہ کروں گا۔

Thou shalt eat, but not be satisfied; and thy casting down shall be in the midst of thee; and thou shalt take hold, but shalt not deliver; and that which thou deliverest will I give up to the sword.

تُو کھانا کھائے گا لیکن سیر نہیں ہو گا بلکہ پیٹ خالی رہے گا۔ تُو مال محفوظ رکھنے کی کوشش کرے گا، لیکن کچھ نہیں بچے گا۔ کیونکہ جو کچھ تُو بچانے کی کوشش کرے گا اُسے مَیں تلوار کے حوالے کروں گا۔

Thou shalt sow, but thou shalt not reap; thou shalt tread the olives, but thou shalt not anoint thee with oil; and sweet wine, but shalt not drink wine.

تُو بیج بوئے گا لیکن فصل نہیں کاٹے گا، زیتون کا تیل نکالے گا لیکن اُسے استعمال نہیں کرے گا، انگور کا رس نکالے گا لیکن اُسے نہیں پیئے گا۔

For the statutes of Omri are kept, and all the works of the house of Ahab, and ye walk in their counsels; that I should make thee a desolation, and the inhabitants thereof an hissing: therefore ye shall bear the reproach of my people.

تُو اسرائیل کے بادشاہوں عُمری اور اخی اب کے نمونے پر چل پڑا ہے، آج تک اُن ہی کے منصوبوں کی پیروی کرتا آیا ہے۔ اِس لئے مَیں تجھے تباہی کے حوالے کر دوں گا، تیرے لوگوں کو مذاق کا نشانہ بناؤں گا۔ تجھے دیگر اقوام کی لعن طعن برداشت کرنی پڑے گی۔“
