Joel 2

Blow ye the trumpet in Zion, and sound an alarm in my holy mountain: let all the inhabitants of the land tremble: for the day of the LORD cometh, for it is nigh at hand;

کوہِ صیون پر نرسنگا پھونکو، میرے مُقدّس پہاڑ پر جنگ کا نعرہ لگاؤ۔ ملک کے تمام باشندے لرز اُٹھیں، کیونکہ رب کا دن آنے والا ہے بلکہ قریب ہی ہے۔

A day of darkness and of gloominess, a day of clouds and of thick darkness, as the morning spread upon the mountains: a great people and a strong; there hath not been ever the like, neither shall be any more after it, even to the years of many generations.

ظلمت اور تاریکی کا دن، گھنے بادلوں اور گھپ اندھرے کا دن ہو گا۔ جس طرح پَو پھٹتے ہی روشنی پہاڑوں پر پھیل جاتی ہے اُسی طرح ایک بڑی اور طاقت ور قوم آ رہی ہے، ایسی قوم جیسی نہ ماضی میں کبھی تھی، نہ مستقبل میں کبھی ہو گی۔

A fire devoureth before them; and behind them a flame burneth: the land is as the garden of Eden before them, and behind them a desolate wilderness; yea, and nothing shall escape them.

اُس کے آگے آگے آتش سب کچھ بھسم کرتی ہے، اُس کے پیچھے پیچھے جُھلسانے والا شعلہ چلتا ہے۔ جہاں بھی وہ پہنچے وہاں ملک ویران و سنسان ہو جاتا ہے، خواہ وہ باغِ عدن کیوں نہ ہوتا۔ اُس سے کچھ نہیں بچتا۔

The appearance of them is as the appearance of horses; and as horsemen, so shall they run.

دیکھنے میں وہ گھوڑے جیسے لگتے ہیں، فوجی گھوڑوں کی طرح سرپٹ دوڑتے ہیں۔

Like the noise of chariots on the tops of mountains shall they leap, like the noise of a flame of fire that devoureth the stubble, as a strong people set in battle array.

رتھوں کا سا شور مچاتے ہوئے وہ اُچھل اُچھل کر پہاڑ کی چوٹیوں پر سے گزرتے ہیں۔ بھوسے کو بھسم کرنے والی آگ کی چٹختی آواز سنائی دیتی ہے جب وہ جنگ کے لئے تیار بڑی بڑی فوج کی طرح آگے بڑھتے ہیں۔

Before their face the people shall be much pained: all faces shall gather blackness.

اُنہیں دیکھ کر قومیں ڈر کے مارے پیچ و تاب کھانے لگتی ہیں، ہر چہرہ ماند پڑ جاتا ہے۔

They shall run like mighty men; they shall climb the wall like men of war; and they shall march every one on his ways, and they shall not break their ranks:

وہ سورماؤں کی طرح حملہ کرتے، فوجیوں کی طرح دیواروں پر چھلانگ لگاتے ہیں۔ سب صف باندھ کر آگے بڑھتے ہیں، ایک بھی مقررہ راستے سے نہیں ہٹتا۔

Neither shall one thrust another; they shall walk every one in his path: and when they fall upon the sword, they shall not be wounded.

وہ ایک دوسرے کو دھکا نہیں دیتے بلکہ ہر ایک سیدھا اپنی راہ پر آگے بڑھتا ہے۔ یوں صف بستہ ہو کر وہ دشمن کی دفاعی صفوں میں سے گزر جاتے ہیں

They shall run to and fro in the city; they shall run upon the wall, they shall climb up upon the houses; they shall enter in at the windows like a thief.

اور شہر پر جھپٹا مار کر فصیل پر چھلانگ لگاتے ہیں، گھروں کی دیواروں پر چڑھ کر چور کی طرح کھڑکیوں میں سے گھس آتے ہیں۔

The earth shall quake before them; the heavens shall tremble: the sun and the moon shall be dark, and the stars shall withdraw their shining:

اُن کے آگے آگے زمین کانپ اُٹھتی، آسمان تھرتھراتا، سورج اور چاند تاریک ہو جاتے اور ستاروں کی چمک دمک جاتی رہتی ہے۔

And the LORD shall utter his voice before his army: for his camp is very great: for he is strong that executeth his word: for the day of the LORD is great and very terrible; and who can abide it?

رب خود اپنی فوج کے آگے آگے گرجتا رہتا ہے۔ اُس کا لشکر نہایت بڑا ہے، اور جو فوجی اُس کے حکم پر چلتے ہیں وہ طاقت ور ہیں۔ کیونکہ رب کا دن عظیم اور نہایت ہول ناک ہے، کون اُسے برداشت کر سکتا ہے؟ توبہ کر کے واپس آؤ

Therefore also now, saith the LORD, turn ye even to me with all your heart, and with fasting, and with weeping, and with mourning:

رب فرماتا ہے، ”اب بھی تم توبہ کر سکتے ہو۔ پورے دل سے میرے پاس واپس آؤ! روزہ رکھو، آہ و زاری کرو، ماتم کرو!

And rend your heart, and not your garments, and turn unto the LORD your God: for he is gracious and merciful, slow to anger, and of great kindness, and repenteth him of the evil.

رنجش کا اظہار کرنے کے لئے اپنے کپڑوں کو مت پھاڑو بلکہ اپنے دل کو۔“ رب اپنے خدا کے پاس واپس آؤ، کیونکہ وہ مہربان اور رحیم ہے۔ وہ تحمل اور شفقت سے بھرپور ہے اور جلد ہی سزا دینے سے پچھتاتا ہے۔

Who knoweth if he will return and repent, and leave a blessing behind him; even a meat offering and a drink offering unto the LORD your God?

کون جانے، شاید وہ اِس بار بھی پچھتا کر اپنے پیچھے برکت چھوڑ جائے اور تم نئے سرے سے رب اپنے خدا کو غلہ اور مَے کی نذریں پیش کر سکو۔

Blow the trumpet in Zion, sanctify a fast, call a solemn assembly:

کوہِ صیون پر نرسنگا پھونکو، مُقدّس روزے کا اعلان کرو، لوگوں کو خاص اجتماع کے لئے بُلاؤ!

Gather the people, sanctify the congregation, assemble the elders, gather the children, and those that suck the breasts: let the bridegroom go forth of his chamber, and the bride out of her closet.

لوگوں کو جمع کرو، پھر جماعت کو مخصوص و مُقدّس کرو۔ نہ صرف بزرگوں کو بلکہ بچوں کو بھی شیرخواروں سمیت اکٹھا کرو۔ دُولھا اور دُلھن بھی اپنے اپنے عروسی کمروں سے نکل کر آئیں۔

Let the priests, the ministers of the LORD, weep between the porch and the altar, and let them say, Spare thy people, O LORD, and give not thine heritage to reproach, that the heathen should rule over them: wherefore should they say among the people, Where is their God?

لازم ہے کہ امام جو اللہ کے خادم ہیں رب کے گھر کے برآمدے اور قربان گاہ کے درمیان کھڑے ہو کر آہ و زاری کریں۔ وہ اقرار کریں، ”اے رب، اپنی قوم پر ترس کی نگاہ ڈال! اپنی موروثی ملکیت کو لعن طعن کا نشانہ بننے نہ دے۔ ایسا نہ ہو کہ دیگر اقوام اُس کا مذاق اُڑا کر کہیں، ’اُن کا خدا کہاں ہے‘؟“

Then will the LORD be jealous for his land, and pity his people.

تب رب اپنے ملک کے لئے غیرت کھا کر اپنی قوم پر ترس کھائے گا۔

Yea, the LORD will answer and say unto his people, Behold, I will send you corn, and wine, and oil, and ye shall be satisfied therewith: and I will no more make you a reproach among the heathen:

وہ اپنی قوم سے وعدہ کرے گا، ”مَیں تمہیں اِتنا اناج، انگور اور زیتون بھیج دیتا ہوں کہ تم سیر ہو جاؤ گے۔ آئندہ مَیں تمہیں دیگر اقوام کے مذاق کا نشانہ نہیں بناؤں گا۔

But I will remove far off from you the northern army, and will drive him into a land barren and desolate, with his face toward the east sea, and his hinder part toward the utmost sea, and his stink shall come up, and his ill savour shall come up, because he hath done great things.

مَیں شمال سے آئے ہوئے دشمن کو تم سے دُور کر کے ویران و سنسان ملک میں بھگا دوں گا۔ وہاں اُس کے اگلے دستے مشرقی سمندر میں اور اُس کے پچھلے دستے مغربی سمندر میں ڈوب جائیں گے۔ تب اُن کی گلی سڑی نعشوں کی بدبو چاروں طرف پھیل جائے گی۔“ کیونکہ اُس نے عظیم کام کئے ہیں۔

Fear not, O land; be glad and rejoice: for the LORD will do great things.

اے ملک، مت ڈرنا بلکہ شادیانہ بجا کر خوشی منا! کیونکہ رب نے عظیم کام کئے ہیں۔

Be not afraid, ye beasts of the field: for the pastures of the wilderness do spring, for the tree beareth her fruit, the fig tree and the vine do yield their strength.

اے جنگلی جانورو، مت ڈرنا، کیونکہ کھلے میدان کی ہریالی دوبارہ اُگنے لگی ہے۔ درخت نئے سرے سے پھل لا رہے ہیں، انجیر اور انگور کی بڑی فصل پک رہی ہے۔

Be glad then, ye children of Zion, and rejoice in the LORD your God: for he hath given you the former rain moderately, and he will cause to come down for you the rain, the former rain, and the latter rain in the first month.

اے صیون کے باشندو، تم بھی شادیانہ بجا کر رب اپنے خدا کی خوشی مناؤ۔ کیونکہ وہ اپنی راستی کے مطابق تم پر مینہ برساتا، پہلے کی طرح خزاں اور بہار کی بارشیں بخش دیتا ہے۔

And the floors shall be full of wheat, and the fats shall overflow with wine and oil.

اناج کی کثرت سے گاہنے کی جگہیں بھر جائیں گی، انگور اور زیتون کی کثرت سے حوض چھلک اُٹھیں گے۔

And I will restore to you the years that the locust hath eaten, the cankerworm, and the caterpiller, and the palmerworm, my great army which I sent among you.

رب فرماتا ہے، ”مَیں تمہیں سب کچھ واپس کر دوں گا جو ٹڈیوں کی بڑی فوج نے کھا لیا ہے۔ تمہیں سب کچھ واپس مل جائے گا جو بالغ ٹڈی، ٹڈی کے بچے، جوان ٹڈی اور ٹڈیوں کے لارووں نے کھا لیا جب مَیں نے اُنہیں تمہارے خلاف بھیجا تھا۔

And ye shall eat in plenty, and be satisfied, and praise the name of the LORD your God, that hath dealt wondrously with you: and my people shall never be ashamed.

تم دوبارہ جی بھر کر کھا سکو گے۔ تب تم رب اپنے خدا کے نام کی ستائش کرو گے جس نے تمہاری خاطر اِتنے بڑے معجزے کئے ہیں۔ آئندہ میری قوم کبھی شرمندہ نہ ہو گی۔

And ye shall know that I am in the midst of Israel, and that I am the LORD your God, and none else: and my people shall never be ashamed.

تب تم جان لو گے کہ مَیں اسرائیل کے درمیان موجود ہوں، کہ مَیں، رب تمہارا خدا ہوں اور میرے سوا اَور کوئی نہیں ہے۔ آئندہ میری قوم کبھی بھی شرم سار نہیں ہو گی۔

And it shall come to pass afterward, that I will pour out my spirit upon all flesh; and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, your old men shall dream dreams, your young men shall see visions:

اِس کے بعد مَیں اپنے روح کو تمام انسانوں پر اُنڈیل دوں گا۔ تمہارے بیٹے بیٹیاں نبوّت کریں گے، تمہارے بزرگ خواب اور تمہارے نوجوان رویائیں دیکھیں گے۔

And also upon the servants and upon the handmaids in those days will I pour out my spirit.

اُن دنوں میں مَیں اپنے روح کو خادموں اور خادماؤں پر بھی اُنڈیل دوں گا۔

And I will shew wonders in the heavens and in the earth, blood, and fire, and pillars of smoke.

مَیں آسمان پر معجزے دکھاؤں گا اور زمین پر الٰہی نشان ظاہر کروں گا، خون، آگ اور دھوئیں کے بادل۔

The sun shall be turned into darkness, and the moon into blood, before the great and the terrible day of the LORD come.

سورج تاریک ہو جائے گا، چاند کا رنگ خون سا ہو جائے گا، اور پھر رب کا عظیم اور جلالی دن آئے گا۔

And it shall come to pass, that whosoever shall call on the name of the LORD shall be delivered: for in mount Zion and in Jerusalem shall be deliverance, as the LORD hath said, and in the remnant whom the LORD shall call.

اُس وقت جو بھی رب کا نام لے گا نجات پائے گا۔ کیونکہ کوہِ صیون پر اور یروشلم میں نجات ملے گی، بالکل اُسی طرح جس طرح رب نے فرمایا ہے۔ جن بچے ہوؤں کو رب نے بُلایا ہے اُن ہی میں نجات پائی جائے گی۔
