Jeremiah 39

In the ninth year of Zedekiah king of Judah, in the tenth month, came Nebuchadrezzar king of Babylon and all his army against Jerusalem, and they besieged it.

یروشلم یوں دشمن کے ہاتھ میں آیا: یہوداہ کے بادشاہ کے نویں سال اور 10ویں مہینے میں شاہِ بابل نبوکدنضر اپنی تمام فوج لے کر یروشلم پہنچا اور شہر کا محاصرہ کرنے لگا۔

And in the eleventh year of Zedekiah, in the fourth month, the ninth day of the month, the city was broken up.

صِدقیاہ کے 11ویں سال کے چوتھے مہینے اور نویں دن دشمن نے فصیل میں رخنہ ڈال دیا۔

And all the princes of the king of Babylon came in, and sat in the middle gate, even Nergal–sharezer, Samgar–nebo, Sarsechim, Rab–saris, Nergal–sharezer, Rab–mag, with all the residue of the princes of the king of Babylon.

تب نبوکدنضر کے تمام اعلیٰ افسر شہر میں آ کر اُس کے درمیانی دروازے میں بیٹھ گئے۔ اُن میں نیرگل سراضر جو رب ماگ تھا، سمگرنبو، سرسکیم جو رب ساریس تھا اور شاہِ بابل کے باقی بزرگ شامل تھے۔

And it came to pass, that when Zedekiah the king of Judah saw them, and all the men of war, then they fled, and went forth out of the city by night, by the way of the king's garden, by the gate betwixt the two walls: and he went out the way of the plain.

اُنہیں دیکھ کر یہوداہ کا بادشاہ صِدقیاہ اور اُس کے تمام فوجی بھاگ گئے۔ رات کے وقت وہ فصیل کے اُس دروازے سے نکلے جو شاہی باغ کے ساتھ ملحق دو دیواروں کے بیچ میں تھا۔ وہ وادیِ یردن کی طرف دوڑنے لگے،

But the Chaldeans' army pursued after them, and overtook Zedekiah in the plains of Jericho: and when they had taken him, they brought him up to Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon to Riblah in the land of Hamath, where he gave judgment upon him.

لیکن بابل کے فوجیوں نے اُن کا تعاقب کر کے صِدقیاہ کو یریحو کے میدانی علاقے میں پکڑ لیا۔ پھر اُسے ملکِ حمات کے شہر رِبلہ میں شاہِ بابل نبوکدنضر کے پاس لایا گیا، اور وہیں اُس نے صِدقیاہ پر فیصلہ صادر کیا۔

Then the king of Babylon slew the sons of Zedekiah in Riblah before his eyes: also the king of Babylon slew all the nobles of Judah.

صِدقیاہ کے دیکھتے دیکھتے شاہِ بابل نے رِبلہ میں اُس کے بیٹوں کو قتل کیا۔ ساتھ ساتھ اُس نے یہوداہ کے تمام بزرگوں کو بھی موت کے گھاٹ اُتار دیا۔

Moreover he put out Zedekiah's eyes, and bound him with chains, to carry him to Babylon.

پھر اُس نے صِدقیاہ کی آنکھیں نکلوا کر اُسے پیتل کی زنجیروں میں جکڑ لیا اور بابل کو لے جانے کے لئے محفوظ رکھا۔

And the Chaldeans burned the king's house, and the houses of the people, with fire, and brake down the walls of Jerusalem.

بابل کے فوجیوں نے شاہی محل اور دیگر لوگوں کے گھروں کو جلا کر یروشلم کی فصیل کو گرا دیا۔

Then Nebuzar–adan the captain of the guard carried away captive into Babylon the remnant of the people that remained in the city, and those that fell away, that fell to him, with the rest of the people that remained.

شاہی محافظوں کے افسر نبوزرادان نے سب کو جلاوطن کر دیا جو یروشلم اور یہوداہ میں پیچھے رہ گئے تھے۔ وہ بھی اُن میں شامل تھے جو جنگ کے دوران غداری کر کے شاہِ بابل کے پیچھے لگ گئے تھے۔

But Nebuzar–adan the captain of the guard left of the poor of the people, which had nothing, in the land of Judah, and gave them vineyards and fields at the same time.

لیکن نبوزرادان نے سب سے نچلے طبقے کے بعض لوگوں کو ملکِ یہوداہ میں چھوڑ دیا، ایسے لوگ جن کے پاس کچھ نہیں تھا۔ اُنہیں اُس نے اُس وقت انگور کے باغ اور کھیت دیئے۔

Now Nebuchadrezzar king of Babylon gave charge concerning Jeremiah to Nebuzar–adan the captain of the guard, saying,

نبوکدنضر بادشاہ نے شاہی محافظوں کے افسر نبوزرادان کو حکم دیا، ”یرمیاہ کو اپنے پاس رکھیں۔ اُس کا خیال رکھیں۔ اُسے نقصان نہ پہنچائیں بلکہ جو بھی درخواست وہ کرے اُسے پورا کریں۔“

Take him, and look well to him, and do him no harm; but do unto him even as he shall say unto thee.

نبوکدنضر بادشاہ نے شاہی محافظوں کے افسر نبوزرادان کو حکم دیا، ”یرمیاہ کو اپنے پاس رکھیں۔ اُس کا خیال رکھیں۔ اُسے نقصان نہ پہنچائیں بلکہ جو بھی درخواست وہ کرے اُسے پورا کریں۔“

So Nebuzar–adan the captain of the guard sent, and Nebushasban, Rab–saris, and Nergal–sharezer, Rab–mag, and all the king of Babylon's princes;

چنانچہ شاہی محافظوں کے افسر نبوزرادان نے کسی کو یرمیاہ کے پاس بھیجا۔ اُس وقت نبوشزبان جو رب ساریس تھا، نیرگل سراضر جو رب ماگ تھا اور شاہِ بابل کے باقی افسر نبوزرادان کے پاس تھے۔

Even they sent, and took Jeremiah out of the court of the prison, and committed him unto Gedaliah the son of Ahikam the son of Shaphan, that he should carry him home: so he dwelt among the people.

یرمیاہ اب تک شاہی محافظوں کے صحن میں گرفتار تھا۔ اُنہوں نے حکم دیا کہ اُسے وہاں سے نکال کر جِدلیاہ بن اخی قام بن سافن کے حوالے کر دیا جائے تاکہ وہ اُسے اُس کے اپنے گھر پہنچا دے۔ یوں یرمیاہ اپنے لوگوں کے درمیان بسنے لگا۔

Now the word of the LORD came unto Jeremiah, while he was shut up in the court of the prison, saying,

جب یرمیاہ ابھی شاہی محافظوں کے صحن میں گرفتار تھا تو رب اُس سے ہم کلام ہوا،

Go and speak to Ebed–melech the Ethiopian, saying, Thus saith the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel; Behold, I will bring my words upon this city for evil, and not for good; and they shall be accomplished in that day before thee.

”جا کر ایتھوپیا کے عبدمَلِک کو بتا، ’رب الافواج جو اسرائیل کا خدا ہے فرماتا ہے کہ دیکھ، مَیں اِس شہر کے ساتھ وہ سب کچھ کرنے کو ہوں جس کا اعلان مَیں نے کیا تھا۔ مَیں اُس پر مہربانی نہیں کروں گا بلکہ اُسے نقصان پہنچاؤں گا۔ تُو اپنی آنکھوں سے یہ دیکھے گا۔

But I will deliver thee in that day, saith the LORD: and thou shalt not be given into the hand of the men of whom thou art afraid.

لیکن رب فرماتا ہے کہ تجھے مَیں اُس دن چھٹکارا دوں گا، تجھے اُن کے حوالے نہیں کیا جائے گا جن سے تُو ڈرتا ہے۔

For I will surely deliver thee, and thou shalt not fall by the sword, but thy life shall be for a prey unto thee: because thou hast put thy trust in me, saith the LORD.

مَیں خود تجھے بچاؤں گا۔ چونکہ تُو نے مجھ پر بھروسا کیا اِس لئے تُو تلوار کی زد میں نہیں آئے گا بلکہ تیری جان چھوٹ جائے گی ۔ یہ رب کا فرمان ہے‘۔“
