Isaiah 18

Woe to the land shadowing with wings, which is beyond the rivers of Ethiopia:

پھڑپھڑاتے بادبانوں کے ملک پر افسوس! ایتھوپیا پر افسوس جہاں کوش کے دریا بہتے ہیں،

That sendeth ambassadors by the sea, even in vessels of bulrushes upon the waters, saying, Go, ye swift messengers, to a nation scattered and peeled, to a people terrible from their beginning hitherto; a nation meted out and trodden down, whose land the rivers have spoiled!

اور جو اپنے قاصدوں کو آبی نرسل کی کشتیوں میں بٹھا کر سمندری سفروں پر بھیجتا ہے۔ اے تیز رَو قاصدو، لمبے قد اور چِکنی چپڑی جِلد والی قوم کے پاس جاؤ۔ اُس قوم کے پاس پہنچو جس سے دیگر قومیں دُوردراز علاقوں تک ڈرتی ہیں، جو زبردستی سب کچھ پاؤں تلے کچل دیتی ہے، اور جس کا ملک دریاؤں سے بٹا ہوا ہے۔

All ye inhabitants of the world, and dwellers on the earth, see ye, when he lifteth up an ensign on the mountains; and when he bloweth a trumpet, hear ye.

اے دنیا کے تمام باشندو، زمین کے تمام بسنے والو! جب پہاڑوں پر جھنڈا گاڑا جائے تو اُس پر دھیان دو! جب نرسنگا بجایا جائے تو اُس پر غور کرو!

For so the LORD said unto me, I will take my rest, and I will consider in my dwelling place like a clear heat upon herbs, and like a cloud of dew in the heat of harvest.

کیونکہ رب مجھ سے ہم کلام ہوا ہے، ”مَیں اپنی سکونت گاہ سے خاموشی سے دیکھتا رہوں گا۔ لیکن میری یہ خاموشی دوپہر کی چلچلاتی دھوپ یا موسمِ گرما میں دُھند کے بادل کی مانند ہو گی۔“

For afore the harvest, when the bud is perfect, and the sour grape is ripening in the flower, he shall both cut off the sprigs with pruning hooks, and take away and cut down the branches.

کیونکہ انگور کی فصل کے پکنے سے پہلے ہی رب اپنا ہاتھ بڑھا دے گا۔ پھولوں کے ختم ہونے پر جب انگور پک رہے ہوں گے وہ کونپلوں کو چھری سے کاٹے گا، پھیلتی ہوئی شاخوں کو توڑ توڑ کر اُن کی کانٹ چھانٹ کرے گا۔

They shall be left together unto the fowls of the mountains, and to the beasts of the earth: and the fowls shall summer upon them, and all the beasts of the earth shall winter upon them.

یہی ایتھوپیا کی حالت ہو گی۔ اُس کی لاشوں کو پہاڑوں کے شکاری پرندوں اور جنگلی جانوروں کے حوالے کیا جائے گا۔ موسمِ گرما کے دوران شکاری پرندے اُنہیں کھاتے جائیں گے، اور سردیوں میں جنگلی جانور لاشوں سے سیر ہو جائیں گے۔

In that time shall the present be brought unto the LORD of hosts of a people scattered and peeled, and from a people terrible from their beginning hitherto; a nation meted out and trodden under foot, whose land the rivers have spoiled, to the place of the name of the LORD of hosts, the mount Zion.

اُس وقت لمبے قد اور چِکنی چپڑی جِلد والی یہ قوم رب الافواج کے حضور تحفہ لائے گی۔ ہاں، جن لوگوں سے دیگر قومیں دُوردراز علاقوں تک ڈرتی ہیں اور جو زبردستی سب کچھ پاؤں تلے کچل دیتے ہیں وہ دریاؤں سے بٹے ہوئے اپنے ملک سے آ کر اپنا تحفہ صیون پہاڑ پر پیش کریں گے، وہاں جہاں رب الافواج کا نام سکونت کرتا ہے۔
