Ezra 3

And when the seventh month was come, and the children of Israel were in the cities, the people gathered themselves together as one man to Jerusalem.

ساتویں مہینے کی ابتدا میں پوری قوم یروشلم میں جمع ہوئی۔ اُس وقت اسرائیلی اپنی آبادیوں میں دوبارہ آباد ہو گئے تھے۔

Then stood up Jeshua the son of Jozadak, and his brethren the priests, and Zerubbabel the son of Shealtiel, and his brethren, and builded the altar of the God of Israel, to offer burnt offerings thereon, as it is written in the law of Moses the man of God.

جمع ہونے کا مقصد اسرائیل کے خدا کی قربان گاہ کو نئے سرے سے تعمیر کرنا تھا تاکہ مردِ خدا موسیٰ کی شریعت کے مطابق اُس پر بھسم ہونے والی قربانیاں پیش کی جا سکیں۔ چنانچہ یشوع بن یو صدق اور زرُبابل بن سیالتی ایل کام میں لگ گئے۔ یشوع کے امام بھائیوں اور زرُبابل کے بھائیوں نے اُن کی مدد کی۔

And they set the altar upon his bases; for fear was upon them because of the people of those countries: and they offered burnt offerings thereon unto the LORD, even burnt offerings morning and evening.

گو وہ ملک میں رہنے والی دیگر قوموں سے سہمے ہوئے تھے تاہم اُنہوں نے قربان گاہ کو اُس کی پرانی بنیاد پر تعمیر کیا اور صبح شام اُس پر رب کو بھسم ہونے والی قربانیاں پیش کرنے لگے۔

They kept also the feast of tabernacles, as it is written, and offered the daily burnt offerings by number, according to the custom, as the duty of every day required;

جھونپڑیوں کی عید اُنہوں نے شریعت کی ہدایت کے مطابق منائی۔ اُس ہفتے کے ہر دن اُنہوں نے بھسم ہونے والی اُتنی قربانیاں چڑھائیں جتنی ضروری تھیں۔

And afterward offered the continual burnt offering, both of the new moons, and of all the set feasts of the LORD that were consecrated, and of every one that willingly offered a freewill offering unto the LORD.

اُس وقت سے امام بھسم ہونے والی تمام درکار قربانیاں باقاعدگی سے پیش کرنے لگے، نیز نئے چاند کی عیدوں اور رب کی باقی مخصوص و مُقدّس عیدوں کی قربانیاں۔ قوم اپنی خوشی سے بھی رب کو قربانیاں پیش کرتی تھی۔

From the first day of the seventh month began they to offer burnt offerings unto the LORD. But the foundation of the temple of the LORD was not yet laid.

گو رب کے گھر کی بنیاد ابھی ڈالی نہیں گئی تھی توبھی اسرائیلی ساتویں مہینے کے پہلے دن سے رب کو بھسم ہونے والی قربانیاں پیش کرنے لگے۔

They gave money also unto the masons, and to the carpenters; and meat, and drink, and oil, unto them of Zidon, and to them of Tyre, to bring cedar trees from Lebanon to the sea of Joppa, according to the grant that they had of Cyrus king of Persia.

پھر اُنہوں نے راجوں اور کاری گروں کو پیسے دے کر کام پر لگایا اور صور اور صیدا کے باشندوں سے دیودار کی لکڑی منگوائی۔ یہ لکڑی لبنان کے پہاڑی علاقے سے سمندر تک لائی گئی اور وہاں سے سمندر کے راستے یافا پہنچائی گئی۔ اسرائیلیوں نے معاوضے میں کھانے پینے کی چیزیں اور زیتون کا تیل دے دیا۔ فارس کے بادشاہ خورس نے اُنہیں یہ کروانے کی اجازت دی تھی۔

Now in the second year of their coming unto the house of God at Jerusalem, in the second month, began Zerubbabel the son of Shealtiel, and Jeshua the son of Jozadak, and the remnant of their brethren the priests and the Levites, and all they that were come out of the captivity unto Jerusalem; and appointed the Levites, from twenty years old and upward, to set forward the work of the house of the LORD.

جلاوطنی سے واپس آنے کے دوسرے سال کے دوسرے مہینے میں رب کے گھر کی نئے سرے سے تعمیر شروع ہوئی۔ اِس کام میں زرُبابل بن سیالتی ایل، یشوع بن یوصدق، دیگر امام اور لاوی اور وطن میں واپس آئے ہوئے باقی تمام اسرائیلی شریک ہوئے۔ تعمیری کام کی نگرانی اُن لاویوں کے ذمے لگا دی گئی جن کی عمر 20 سال یا اِس سے زائد تھی۔

Then stood Jeshua with his sons and his brethren, Kadmiel and his sons, the sons of Judah, together, to set forward the workmen in the house of God: the sons of Henadad, with their sons and their brethren the Levites.

ذیل کے لوگ مل کر رب کا گھر بنانے والوں کی نگرانی کرتے تھے: یشوع اپنے بیٹوں اور بھائیوں سمیت، قدمی ایل اور اُس کے بیٹے جو ہوداویاہ کی اولاد تھے اور حنداد کے خاندان کے لاوی۔

And when the builders laid the foundation of the temple of the LORD, they set the priests in their apparel with trumpets, and the Levites the sons of Asaph with cymbals, to praise the LORD, after the ordinance of David king of Israel.

رب کے گھر کی بنیاد رکھتے وقت امام اپنے مُقدّس لباس پہنے ہوئے ساتھ کھڑے ہو گئے اور تُرم بجانے لگے۔ آسف کے خاندان کے لاوی ساتھ ساتھ جھانجھ بجانے اور رب کی ستائش کرنے لگے۔ سب کچھ اسرائیل کے بادشاہ داؤد کی ہدایات کے مطابق ہوا۔

And they sang together by course in praising and giving thanks unto the LORD; because he is good, for his mercy endureth for ever toward Israel. And all the people shouted with a great shout, when they praised the LORD, because the foundation of the house of the LORD was laid.

وہ حمد و ثنا کے گیت سے رب کی تعریف کرنے لگے، ”وہ بھلا ہے، اور اسرائیل پر اُس کی شفقت ابدی ہے!“ جب حاضرین نے دیکھا کہ رب کے گھر کی بنیاد رکھی جا رہی ہے تو سب رب کی خوشی میں زوردار نعرے لگانے لگے۔

But many of the priests and Levites and chief of the fathers, who were ancient men, that had seen the first house, when the foundation of this house was laid before their eyes, wept with a loud voice; and many shouted aloud for joy:

لیکن بہت سے امام، لاوی اور خاندانی سرپرست حاضر تھے جنہوں نے رب کا پہلا گھر دیکھا ہوا تھا۔ جب اُن کے دیکھتے دیکھتے رب کے نئے گھر کی بنیاد رکھی گئی تو وہ بلند آواز سے رونے لگے جبکہ باقی بہت سارے لوگ خوشی کے نعرے لگا رہے تھے۔

So that the people could not discern the noise of the shout of joy from the noise of the weeping of the people: for the people shouted with a loud shout, and the noise was heard afar off.

اِتنا شور تھا کہ خوشی کے نعروں اور رونے کی آوازوں میں امتیاز نہ کیا جا سکا۔ شور دُور دُور تک سنائی دیا۔
