Ezekiel 1

Now it came to pass in the thirtieth year, in the fourth month, in the fifth day of the month, as I was among the captives by the river of Chebar, that the heavens were opened, and I saw visions of God.

جب مَیں یعنی امام حزقی ایل بن بوزی تیس سال کا تھا تو مَیں یہوداہ کے جلاوطنوں کے ساتھ ملکِ بابل کے دریا کبار کے کنارے ٹھہرا ہوا تھا۔ یہویاکین بادشاہ کو جلاوطن ہوئے پانچ سال ہو گئے تھے۔ چوتھے مہینے کے پانچویں دن آسمان کھل گیا اور اللہ نے مجھ پر مختلف رویائیں ظاہر کیں۔ اُس وقت رب مجھ سے ہم کلام ہوا، اور اُس کا ہاتھ مجھ پر آ ٹھہرا۔

In the fifth day of the month, which was the fifth year of king Jehoiachin's captivity,

جب مَیں یعنی امام حزقی ایل بن بوزی تیس سال کا تھا تو مَیں یہوداہ کے جلاوطنوں کے ساتھ ملکِ بابل کے دریا کبار کے کنارے ٹھہرا ہوا تھا۔ یہویاکین بادشاہ کو جلاوطن ہوئے پانچ سال ہو گئے تھے۔ چوتھے مہینے کے پانچویں دن آسمان کھل گیا اور اللہ نے مجھ پر مختلف رویائیں ظاہر کیں۔ اُس وقت رب مجھ سے ہم کلام ہوا، اور اُس کا ہاتھ مجھ پر آ ٹھہرا۔

The word of the LORD came expressly unto Ezekiel the priest, the son of Buzi, in the land of the Chaldeans by the river Chebar; and the hand of the LORD was there upon him.

جب مَیں یعنی امام حزقی ایل بن بوزی تیس سال کا تھا تو مَیں یہوداہ کے جلاوطنوں کے ساتھ ملکِ بابل کے دریا کبار کے کنارے ٹھہرا ہوا تھا۔ یہویاکین بادشاہ کو جلاوطن ہوئے پانچ سال ہو گئے تھے۔ چوتھے مہینے کے پانچویں دن آسمان کھل گیا اور اللہ نے مجھ پر مختلف رویائیں ظاہر کیں۔ اُس وقت رب مجھ سے ہم کلام ہوا، اور اُس کا ہاتھ مجھ پر آ ٹھہرا۔

And I looked, and, behold, a whirlwind came out of the north, a great cloud, and a fire infolding itself, and a brightness was about it, and out of the midst thereof as the colour of amber, out of the midst of the fire.

رویا میں مَیں نے زبردست آندھی دیکھی جس نے شمال سے آ کر بڑا بادل میرے پاس پہنچایا۔ بادل میں چمکتی دمکتی آگ نظر آئی، اور وہ تیز روشنی سے گھرا ہوا تھا۔ آگ کا مرکز چمک دار دھات کی طرح تمتما رہا تھا۔

Also out of the midst thereof came the likeness of four living creatures. And this was their appearance; they had the likeness of a man.

آگ میں چار جانداروں جیسے چل رہے تھے جن کی شکل و صورت انسانی تھی۔

And every one had four faces, and every one had four wings.

لیکن ہر ایک کے چار چہرے اور چار پَر تھے۔

And their feet were straight feet; and the sole of their feet was like the sole of a calf's foot: and they sparkled like the colour of burnished brass.

اُن کی ٹانگیں انسانوں جیسی سیدھی تھیں، لیکن پاؤں کے تلوے بچھڑوں کے سے کُھر تھے۔ وہ پالش کئے ہوئے پیتل کی طرح جگمگا رہے تھے۔

And they had the hands of a man under their wings on their four sides; and they four had their faces and their wings.

چاروں کے چہرے اور پَر تھے، اور چاروں پَروں کے نیچے انسانی ہاتھ دکھائی دیئے۔

Their wings were joined one to another; they turned not when they went; they went every one straight forward.

جاندار اپنے پَروں سے ایک دوسرے کو چھو رہے تھے۔ چلتے وقت مُڑنے کی ضرورت نہیں تھی، کیونکہ ہر ایک کے چار چہرے چاروں طرف دیکھتے تھے۔ جب کبھی کسی سمت جانا ہوتا تو اُسی سمت کا چہرہ چل پڑتا۔

As for the likeness of their faces, they four had the face of a man, and the face of a lion, on the right side: and they four had the face of an ox on the left side; they four also had the face of an eagle.

چاروں کے چہرے ایک جیسے تھے۔ سامنے کا چہرہ انسان کا، دائیں طرف کا چہرہ شیرببر کا، بائیں طرف کا چہرہ بَیل کا اور پیچھے کا چہرہ عقاب کا تھا۔

Thus were their faces: and their wings were stretched upward; two wings of every one were joined one to another, and two covered their bodies.

اُن کے پَر اوپر کی طرف پھیلے ہوئے تھے۔ دو پَر بائیں اور دائیں ہاتھ کے جانداروں سے لگتے تھے، اور دو پَر اُن کے جسموں کو ڈھانپے رکھتے تھے۔

And they went every one straight forward: whither the spirit was to go, they went; and they turned not when they went.

جہاں بھی اللہ کا روح جانا چاہتا تھا وہاں یہ جاندار چل پڑتے۔ اُنہیں مُڑنے کی ضرورت نہیں تھی، کیونکہ وہ ہمیشہ اپنے چاروں چہروں میں سے ایک کا رُخ اختیار کرتے تھے۔

As for the likeness of the living creatures, their appearance was like burning coals of fire, and like the appearance of lamps: it went up and down among the living creatures; and the fire was bright, and out of the fire went forth lightning.

جانداروں کے بیچ میں ایسا لگ رہا تھا جیسے کوئلے دہک رہے ہوں، کہ اُن کے درمیان مشعلیں اِدھر اُدھر چل رہی ہوں۔ جھلملاتی آگ میں سے بجلی بھی چمک کر نکلتی تھی۔

And the living creatures ran and returned as the appearance of a flash of lightning.

جاندار خود اِتنی تیزی سے اِدھر اُدھر گھوم رہے تھے کہ بادل کی بجلی جیسے نظر آ رہے تھے۔

Now as I beheld the living creatures, behold one wheel upon the earth by the living creatures, with his four faces.

جب مَیں نے غور سے اُن پر نظر ڈالی تو دیکھا کہ ہر ایک جاندار کے پاس پہیہ ہے جو زمین کو چھو رہا ہے۔

The appearance of the wheels and their work was like unto the colour of a beryl: and they four had one likeness: and their appearance and their work was as it were a wheel in the middle of a wheel.

لگتا تھا کہ چاروں پہئے پکھراج سے بنے ہوئے ہیں۔ چاروں ایک جیسے تھے۔ ہر پہئے کے اندر ایک اَور پہیہ زاویۂ قائمہ میں گھوم رہا تھا،

When they went, they went upon their four sides: and they turned not when they went.

اِس لئے وہ مُڑے بغیر ہر رُخ اختیار کر سکتے تھے۔

As for their rings, they were so high that they were dreadful; and their rings were full of eyes round about them four.

اُن کے لمبے چکر خوف ناک تھے، اور چکروں کی ہر جگہ پر آنکھیں ہی آنکھیں تھیں۔

And when the living creatures went, the wheels went by them: and when the living creatures were lifted up from the earth, the wheels were lifted up.

جب چار جاندار چلتے تو چاروں پہئے بھی ساتھ چلتے، جب جاندار زمین سے اُڑتے تو پہئے بھی ساتھ اُڑتے تھے۔

Whithersoever the spirit was to go, they went, thither was their spirit to go; and the wheels were lifted up over against them: for the spirit of the living creature was in the wheels.

جہاں بھی اللہ کا روح جاتا وہاں جاندار بھی جاتے تھے۔ پہئے بھی اُڑ کر ساتھ ساتھ چلتے تھے، کیونکہ جانداروں کی روح پہیوں میں تھی۔

When those went, these went; and when those stood, these stood; and when those were lifted up from the earth, the wheels were lifted up over against them: for the spirit of the living creature was in the wheels.

جب کبھی جاندار چلتے تو یہ بھی چلتے، جب رُک جاتے تو یہ بھی رُک جاتے، جب اُڑتے تو یہ بھی اُڑتے۔ کیونکہ جانداروں کی روح پہیوں میں تھی۔

And the likeness of the firmament upon the heads of the living creature was as the colour of the terrible crystal, stretched forth over their heads above.

جانداروں کے سروں کے اوپر گنبد سا پھیلا ہوا تھا جو صاف شفاف بلور جیسی لگ رہا تھا۔ اُسے دیکھ کر انسان گھبرا جاتا تھا۔

And under the firmament were their wings straight, the one toward the other: every one had two, which covered on this side, and every one had two, which covered on that side, their bodies.

چاروں جاندار اِس گنبد کے نیچے تھے، اور ہر ایک اپنے پَروں کو پھیلا کر ایک سے بائیں طرف کے ساتھی اور دوسرے سے دائیں طرف کے ساتھی کو چھو رہا تھا۔ باقی دو پَروں سے وہ اپنے جسم کو ڈھانپے رکھتا تھا۔

And when they went, I heard the noise of their wings, like the noise of great waters, as the voice of the Almighty, the voice of speech, as the noise of an host: when they stood, they let down their wings.

چلتے وقت اُن کے پَروں کا شور مجھ تک پہنچا۔ یوں لگ رہا تھا جیسے قریب ہی زبردست آبشار بہہ رہی ہو، کہ قادرِ مطلق کوئی بات فرما رہا ہو، یا کہ کوئی لشکر حرکت میں آ گیا ہو۔ رُکتے وقت وہ اپنے پَروں کو نیچے لٹکنے دیتے تھے۔

And there was a voice from the firmament that was over their heads, when they stood, and had let down their wings.

پھر گنبد کے اوپر سے آواز سنائی دی، اور جانداروں نے رُک کر اپنے پَروں کو لٹکنے دیا۔

And above the firmament that was over their heads was the likeness of a throne, as the appearance of a sapphire stone: and upon the likeness of the throne was the likeness as the appearance of a man above upon it.

مَیں نے دیکھا کہ اُن کے سروں کے اوپر کے گنبد پر سنگِ لاجورد کا تخت سا نظر آ رہا ہے جس پر کوئی بیٹھا تھا جس کی شکل و صورت انسان کی مانند ہے۔

And I saw as the colour of amber, as the appearance of fire round about within it, from the appearance of his loins even upward, and from the appearance of his loins even downward, I saw as it were the appearance of fire, and it had brightness round about.

لیکن کمر سے لے کر سر تک وہ چمک دار دھات کی طرح تمتما رہا تھا، جبکہ کمر سے لے کر پاؤں تک آگ کی مانند بھڑک رہا تھا۔ تیز روشنی اُس کے ارد گرد جھلملا رہی تھی۔

As the appearance of the bow that is in the cloud in the day of rain, so was the appearance of the brightness round about. This was the appearance of the likeness of the glory of the LORD. And when I saw it, I fell upon my face, and I heard a voice of one that spake.

اُسے دیکھ کر قوسِ قزح کی وہ آب و تاب یاد آتی تھی جو بارش ہوتے وقت بادل میں دکھائی دیتی ہے۔ یوں رب کا جلال نظر آیا۔ یہ دیکھتے ہی مَیں اوندھے منہ گر گیا۔ اِسی حالت میں کوئی مجھ سے بات کرنے لگا۔
