Esther 10

And the king Ahasuerus laid a tribute upon the land, and upon the isles of the sea.

بادشاہ نے پوری سلطنت کے تمام ممالک پر ساحلی علاقوں تک ٹیکس لگایا۔

And all the acts of his power and of his might, and the declaration of the greatness of Mordecai, whereunto the king advanced him, are they not written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Media and Persia?

اُس کی تمام زبردست کامیابیوں کا بیان ’شاہانِ مادی و فارس کی تاریخ‘ کی کتاب میں کیا گیا ہے۔ وہاں اِس کا بھی پورا ذکر ہے کہ اُس نے مردکی کو کس اونچے عُہدے پر فائز کیا تھا۔

For Mordecai the Jew was next unto king Ahasuerus, and great among the Jews, and accepted of the multitude of his brethren, seeking the wealth of his people, and speaking peace to all his seed.

مردکی بادشاہ کے بعد سلطنت کا سب سے اعلیٰ افسر تھا۔ یہودیوں میں وہ معزز تھا، اور وہ اُس کی بڑی قدر کرتے تھے، کیونکہ وہ اپنی قوم کی بہبودی کا طالب رہتا اور تمام یہودیوں کے حق میں بات کرتا تھا۔
