Acts 15

And certain men which came down from Judæa taught the brethren, and said, Except ye be circumcised after the manner of Moses, ye cannot be saved.

اُس وقت کچھ آدمی یہودیہ سے آ کر شام کے انطاکیہ میں بھائیوں کو یہ تعلیم دینے لگے، ”لازم ہے کہ آپ کا موسیٰ کی شریعت کے مطابق ختنہ کیا جائے، ورنہ آپ نجات نہیں پا سکیں گے۔“

When therefore Paul and Barnabas had no small dissension and disputation with them, they determined that Paul and Barnabas, and certain other of them, should go up to Jerusalem unto the apostles and elders about this question.

اِس سے اُن کے اور برنباس اور پولس کے درمیان نااتفاقی پیدا ہو گئی اور دونوں اُن کے ساتھ خوب بحث مباحثہ کرنے لگے۔ آخرکار جماعت نے پولس اور برنباس کو مقرر کیا کہ وہ چند ایک اَور مقامی ایمان داروں کے ساتھ یروشلم جائیں اور وہاں کے رسولوں اور بزرگوں کو یہ معاملہ پیش کریں۔

And being brought on their way by the church, they passed through Phenice and Samaria, declaring the conversion of the Gentiles: and they caused great joy unto all the brethren.

چنانچہ جماعت نے اُنہیں روانہ کیا اور وہ فینیکے اور سامریہ میں سے گزرے۔ راستے میں اُنہوں نے مقامی ایمان داروں کو تفصیل سے بتایا کہ غیریہودی کس طرح خداوند کی طرف رجوع لا رہے ہیں۔ یہ سن کر تمام بھائی نہایت خوش ہوئے۔

And when they were come to Jerusalem, they were received of the church, and of the apostles and elders, and they declared all things that God had done with them.

جب وہ یروشلم پہنچ گئے تو جماعت نے اپنے رسولوں اور بزرگوں سمیت اُن کا استقبال کیا۔ پھر پولس اور برنباس نے سب کچھ بیان کیا جو اُن کی معرفت ہوا تھا۔

But there rose up certain of the sect of the Pharisees which believed, saying, That it was needful to circumcise them, and to command them to keep the law of Moses.

یہ سن کر کچھ ایمان دار کھڑے ہوئے جو فریسی فرقے میں سے تھے۔ اُنہوں نے کہا، ”لازم ہے کہ غیریہودیوں کا ختنہ کیا جائے اور اُنہیں حکم دیا جائے کہ وہ موسیٰ کی شریعت کے مطابق زندگی گزاریں۔“

And the apostles and elders came together for to consider of this matter.

رسول اور بزرگ اِس معاملے پر غور کرنے کے لئے جمع ہوئے۔

And when there had been much disputing, Peter rose up, and said unto them, Men and brethren, ye know how that a good while ago God made choice among us, that the Gentiles by my mouth should hear the word of the gospel, and believe.

بہت بحث مباحثہ کے بعد پطرس کھڑا ہوا اور کہا، ”بھائیو، آپ جانتے ہیں کہ اللہ نے بہت دیر ہوئی آپ میں سے مجھے چن لیا کہ غیریہودیوں کو اللہ کی خوش خبری سناؤں تاکہ وہ ایمان لائیں۔

And God, which knoweth the hearts, bare them witness, giving them the Holy Ghost, even as he did unto us;

اور اللہ نے جو دلوں کو جانتا ہے اِس بات کی تصدیق کی ہے، کیونکہ اُس نے اُنہیں وہی روح القدس بخشا ہے جو اُس نے ہمیں بھی دیا تھا۔

And put no difference between us and them, purifying their hearts by faith.

اُس نے ہم میں اور اُن میں کوئی بھی فرق نہ رکھا بلکہ ایمان سے اُن کے دلوں کو بھی پاک کر دیا۔

Now therefore why tempt ye God, to put a yoke upon the neck of the disciples, which neither our fathers nor we were able to bear?

چنانچہ آپ اللہ کو اِس میں کیوں آزما رہے ہیں کہ آپ غیریہودی شاگردوں کی گردن پر ایک ایسا جوا رکھنا چاہتے ہیں جو نہ ہم اور نہ ہمارے باپ دادا اُٹھا سکتے تھے؟

But we believe that through the grace of the Lord Jesus Christ we shall be saved, even as they.

دیکھیں، ہم تو ایمان رکھتے ہیں کہ ہم سب ایک ہی طریقے یعنی خداوند عیسیٰ کے فضل ہی سے نجات پاتے ہیں۔“

Then all the multitude kept silence, and gave audience to Barnabas and Paul, declaring what miracles and wonders God had wrought among the Gentiles by them.

تمام لوگ چپ رہے تو پولس اور برنباس اُنہیں اُن الٰہی نشانوں اور معجزوں کے بارے میں بتانے لگے جو اللہ نے اُن کی معرفت غیریہودیوں کے درمیان کئے تھے۔

And after they had held their peace, James answered, saying, Men and brethren, hearken unto me:

جب اُن کی بات ختم ہوئی تو یعقوب نے کہا، ”بھائیو، میری بات سنیں!

Simeon hath declared how God at the first did visit the Gentiles, to take out of them a people for his name.

شمعون نے بیان کیا ہے کہ اللہ نے کس طرح پہلا قدم اُٹھا کر غیریہودیوں پر اپنی فکرمندی کا اظہار کیا اور اُن میں سے اپنے لئے ایک قوم چن لی۔

And to this agree the words of the prophets; as it is written,

اور یہ بات نبیوں کی پیش گوئیوں کے بھی مطابق ہے۔ چنانچہ لکھا ہے،

After this I will return, and will build again the tabernacle of David, which is fallen down; and I will build again the ruins thereof, and I will set it up:

’اِس کے بعد مَیں واپس آ کر داؤد کے تباہ شدہ گھر کو نئے سرے سے تعمیر کروں گا، مَیں اُس کے کھنڈرات دوبارہ تعمیر کر کے بحال کروں گا

That the residue of men might seek after the Lord, and all the Gentiles, upon whom my name is called, saith the Lord, who doeth all these things.

تاکہ لوگوں کا بچا کھچا حصہ اور وہ تمام قومیں مجھے ڈھونڈیں جن پر میرے نام کا ٹھپا لگا ہے۔ یہ رب کا فرمان ہے، اور وہ یہ کرے گا بھی‘

Known unto God are all his works from the beginning of the world.

بلکہ یہ اُسے ازل سے معلوم ہے۔

Wherefore my sentence is, that we trouble not them, which from among the Gentiles are turned to God:

یہی پیشِ نظر رکھ کر میری رائے یہ ہے کہ ہم اُن غیریہودیوں کو جو اللہ کی طرف رجوع کر رہے ہیں غیرضروری تکلیف نہ دیں۔

But that we write unto them, that they abstain from pollutions of idols, and from fornication, and from things strangled, and from blood.

اِس کے بجائے بہتر یہ ہے کہ ہم اُنہیں لکھ کر ہدایت دیں کہ وہ اِن چیزوں سے پرہیز کریں: ایسے کھانوں سے جو بُتوں کو پیش کئے جانے سے ناپاک ہیں، زناکاری سے، ایسے جانوروں کا گوشت کھانے سے جنہیں گلا گھونٹ کر مار دیا گیا ہو اور خون کھانے سے۔

For Moses of old time hath in every city them that preach him, being read in the synagogues every sabbath day.

کیونکہ موسوی شریعت کی منادی کرنے والے کئی نسلوں سے ہر شہر میں رہ رہے ہیں۔ جس شہر میں بھی جائیں ہر سبت کے دن شریعت کی تلاوت کی جاتی ہے۔“

Then pleased it the apostles and elders, with the whole church, to send chosen men of their own company to Antioch with Paul and Barnabas; namely, Judas surnamed Barsabas, and Silas, chief men among the brethren:

پھر رسولوں اور بزرگوں نے پوری جماعت سمیت فیصلہ کیا کہ ہم اپنے میں سے کچھ آدمی چن کر پولس اور برنباس کے ہمراہ شام کے شہر انطاکیہ بھیج دیں۔ دو کو چنا گیا جو بھائیوں میں راہنما تھے، یہوداہ برسبا اور سیلاس۔

And they wrote letters by them after this manner; The apostles and elders and brethren send greeting unto the brethren which are of the Gentiles in Antioch and Syria and Cilicia:

اُن کے ہاتھ اُنہوں نے یہ خط بھیجا، ”یروشلم کے رسولوں اور بزرگوں کی طرف سے جو آپ کے بھائی ہیں۔ عزیز غیریہودی بھائیو جو انطاکیہ، شام اور کلِکیہ میں رہتے ہیں، السلام علیکم!

Forasmuch as we have heard, that certain which went out from us have troubled you with words, subverting your souls, saying, Ye must be circumcised, and keep the law: to whom we gave no such commandment:

سنا ہے کہ ہم میں سے کچھ لوگوں نے آپ کے پاس آ کر آپ کو پریشان کر کے بےچین کر دیا ہے، حالانکہ ہم نے اُنہیں نہیں بھیجا تھا۔

It seemed good unto us, being assembled with one accord, to send chosen men unto you with our beloved Barnabas and Paul,

اِس لئے ہم سب اِس پر متفق ہوئے کہ کچھ آدمیوں کو چن کر اپنے پیارے بھائیوں برنباس اور پولس کے ہمراہ آپ کے پاس بھیجیں۔

Men that have hazarded their lives for the name of our Lord Jesus Christ.

برنباس اور پولس ایسے لوگ ہیں جنہوں نے ہمارے خداوند عیسیٰ مسیح کی خاطر اپنی جان خطرے میں ڈال دی ہے۔

We have sent therefore Judas and Silas, who shall also tell you the same things by mouth.

اُن کے ساتھی یہوداہ اور سیلاس ہیں جن کو ہم نے اِس لئے بھیجا کہ وہ زبانی بھی اُن باتوں کی تصدیق کریں جو ہم نے لکھی ہیں۔

For it seemed good to the Holy Ghost, and to us, to lay upon you no greater burden than these necessary things;

ہم اور روح القدس اِس پر متفق ہوئے ہیں کہ آپ پر سوائے اِن ضروری باتوں کے کوئی بوجھ نہ ڈالیں:

That ye abstain from meats offered to idols, and from blood, and from things strangled, and from fornication: from which if ye keep yourselves, ye shall do well. Fare ye well.

بُتوں کو پیش کیا گیا کھانا مت کھانا، خون مت کھانا، ایسے جانوروں کا گوشت مت کھانا جو گلا گھونٹ کر مار دیئے گئے ہوں۔ اِس کے علاوہ زناکاری نہ کریں۔ اِن چیزوں سے باز رہیں گے تو اچھا کریں گے۔ خدا حافظ۔“

So when they were dismissed, they came to Antioch: and when they had gathered the multitude together, they delivered the epistle:

پولس، برنباس اور اُن کے ساتھی رُخصت ہو کر انطاکیہ چلے گئے۔ وہاں پہنچ کر اُنہوں نے جماعت اکٹھی کر کے اُسے خط دے دیا۔

Which when they had read, they rejoiced for the consolation.

اُسے پڑھ کر ایمان دار اُس کے حوصلہ افزا پیغام پر خوش ہوئے۔

And Judas and Silas, being prophets also themselves, exhorted the brethren with many words, and confirmed them.

یہوداہ اور سیلاس نے بھی جو خود نبی تھے بھائیوں کی حوصلہ افزائی اور مضبوطی کے لئے کافی باتیں کیں۔

And after they had tarried there a space, they were let go in peace from the brethren unto the apostles.

وہ کچھ دیر کے لئے وہاں ٹھہرے، پھر مقامی بھائیوں نے اُنہیں سلامتی سے الوداع کہا تاکہ وہ بھیجنے والوں کے پاس واپس جا سکیں۔

Notwithstanding it pleased Silas to abide there still.

[لیکن سیلاس کو وہاں ٹھہرنا اچھا لگا۔]

Paul also and Barnabas continued in Antioch, teaching and preaching the word of the Lord, with many others also.

پولس اور برنباس خود کچھ اَور دیر انطاکیہ میں رہے۔ وہاں وہ بہت سے اَور لوگوں کے ساتھ خداوند کے کلام کی تعلیم دیتے اور اُس کی منادی کرتے رہے۔

And some days after Paul said unto Barnabas, Let us go again and visit our brethren in every city where we have preached the word of the Lord, and see how they do.

کچھ دنوں کے بعد پولس نے برنباس سے کہا، ”آؤ، ہم مُڑ کر اُن تمام شہروں میں جائیں جہاں ہم نے خداوند کے کلام کی منادی کی ہے اور وہاں کے بھائیوں سے ملاقات کر کے اُن کا حال معلوم کریں۔“

And Barnabas determined to take with them John, whose surname was Mark.

برنباس متفق ہو کر یوحنا مرقس کو ساتھ لے جانا چاہتا تھا،

But Paul thought not good to take him with them, who departed from them from Pamphylia, and went not with them to the work.

لیکن پولس نے اصرار کیا کہ وہ ساتھ نہ جائے، کیونکہ یوحنا مرقس پہلے دورے کے دوران ہی پمفیلیہ میں اُنہیں چھوڑ کر اُن کے ساتھ خدمت کرنے سے باز آیا تھا۔

And the contention was so sharp between them, that they departed asunder one from the other: and so Barnabas took Mark, and sailed unto Cyprus;

اِس سے اُن میں اِتنا سخت اختلاف پیدا ہوا کہ وہ ایک دوسرے سے جدا ہو گئے۔ برنباس یوحنا مرقس کو ساتھ لے کر جہاز میں بیٹھ گیا اور قبرص چلا گیا،

And Paul chose Silas, and departed, being recommended by the brethren unto the grace of God.

جبکہ پولس نے سیلاس کو خدمت کے لئے چن لیا۔ مقامی بھائیوں نے اُنہیں خداوند کے فضل کے سپرد کیا اور وہ روانہ ہوئے۔

And he went through Syria and Cilicia, confirming the churches.

یوں پولس جماعتوں کو مضبوط کرتے کرتے شام اور کلِکیہ میں سے گزرا۔
