II Kings 22

Josiah was eight years old when he began to reign, and he reigned thirty and one years in Jerusalem. And his mother's name was Jedidah, the daughter of Adaiah of Boscath.

یوسیاہ 8 سال کی عمر میں بادشاہ بنا، اور یروشلم میں رہ کر اُس کی حکومت کا دورانیہ 31 سال تھا۔ اُس کی ماں یدیدہ بنت عدایاہ بُصقت کی رہنے والی تھی۔

And he did that which was right in the sight of the LORD, and walked in all the way of David his father, and turned not aside to the right hand or to the left.

یوسیاہ وہ کچھ کرتا رہا جو رب کو پسند تھا۔ وہ ہر بات میں اپنے باپ داؤد کے اچھے نمونے پر چلتا رہا اور اُس سے نہ دائیں، نہ بائیں طرف ہٹا۔

And it came to pass in the eighteenth year of king Josiah, that the king sent Shaphan the son of Azaliah, the son of Meshullam, the scribe, to the house of the LORD, saying,

اپنی حکومت کے 18ویں سال میں یوسیاہ بادشاہ نے اپنے میرمنشی سافن بن اصلیاہ بن مسُلّام کو رب کے گھر کے پاس بھیج کر کہا،

Go up to Hilkiah the high priest, that he may sum the silver which is brought into the house of the LORD, which the keepers of the door have gathered of the people:

”امامِ اعظم خِلقیاہ کے پاس جا کر اُسے بتا دینا کہ اُن تمام پیسوں کو گن لیں جو دربانوں نے لوگوں سے جمع کئے ہیں۔

And let them deliver it into the hand of the doers of the work, that have the oversight of the house of the LORD: and let them give it to the doers of the work which is in the house of the LORD, to repair the breaches of the house,

پھر پیسے اُن ٹھیکے داروں کو دے دیں جو رب کے گھر کی مرمت کروا رہے ہیں تاکہ وہ کاری گروں، تعمیر کرنے والوں اور راجوں کی اُجرت ادا کر سکیں۔ اِن پیسوں سے وہ دراڑوں کو ٹھیک کرنے کے لئے درکار لکڑی اور تراشے ہوئے پتھر بھی خریدیں۔

Unto carpenters, and builders, and masons, and to buy timber and hewn stone to repair the house.

پھر پیسے اُن ٹھیکے داروں کو دے دیں جو رب کے گھر کی مرمت کروا رہے ہیں تاکہ وہ کاری گروں، تعمیر کرنے والوں اور راجوں کی اُجرت ادا کر سکیں۔ اِن پیسوں سے وہ دراڑوں کو ٹھیک کرنے کے لئے درکار لکڑی اور تراشے ہوئے پتھر بھی خریدیں۔

Howbeit there was no reckoning made with them of the money that was delivered into their hand, because they dealt faithfully.

ٹھیکے داروں کو اخراجات کا حساب کتاب دینے کی ضرورت نہیں ہے، کیونکہ وہ قابلِ اعتماد ہیں۔“

And Hilkiah the high priest said unto Shaphan the scribe, I have found the book of the law in the house of the LORD. And Hilkiah gave the book to Shaphan, and he read it.

جب میرمنشی سافن خِلقیاہ کے پاس پہنچا تو امامِ اعظم نے اُسے ایک کتاب دکھا کر کہا، ”مجھے رب کے گھر میں شریعت کی کتاب ملی ہے۔“ اُس نے اُسے سافن کو دے دیا جس نے اُسے پڑھ لیا۔

And Shaphan the scribe came to the king, and brought the king word again, and said, Thy servants have gathered the money that was found in the house, and have delivered it into the hand of them that do the work, that have the oversight of the house of the LORD.

تب سافن بادشاہ کے پاس گیا اور اُسے اطلاع دی، ”ہم نے رب کے گھر میں جمع شدہ پیسے مرمت پر مقرر ٹھیکے داروں اور باقی کام کرنے والوں کو دے دیئے ہیں۔“

And Shaphan the scribe shewed the king, saying, Hilkiah the priest hath delivered me a book. And Shaphan read it before the king.

پھر سافن نے بادشاہ کو بتایا، ”خِلقیاہ نے مجھے ایک کتاب دی ہے۔“ کتاب کو کھول کر وہ بادشاہ کی موجودگی میں اُس کی تلاوت کرنے لگا۔

And it came to pass, when the king had heard the words of the book of the law, that he rent his clothes.

کتاب کی باتیں سن کر بادشاہ نے رنجیدہ ہو کر اپنے کپڑے پھاڑ لئے۔

And the king commanded Hilkiah the priest, and Ahikam the son of Shaphan, and Achbor the son of Michaiah, and Shaphan the scribe, and Asahiah a servant of the king's, saying,

اُس نے خِلقیاہ امام، اخی قام بن سافن، عکبور بن میکایاہ، میرمنشی سافن اور اپنے خاص خادم عسایاہ کو بُلا کر اُنہیں حکم دیا،

Go ye, enquire of the LORD for me, and for the people, and for all Judah, concerning the words of this book that is found: for great is the wrath of the LORD that is kindled against us, because our fathers have not hearkened unto the words of this book, to do according unto all that which is written concerning us.

”جا کر میری اور قوم بلکہ تمام یہوداہ کی خاطر رب سے اِس کتاب میں درج باتوں کے بارے میں دریافت کریں۔ رب کا جو غضب ہم پر نازل ہونے والا ہے وہ نہایت سخت ہے، کیونکہ ہمارے باپ دادا نہ کتاب کے فرمانوں کے تابع رہے، نہ اُن ہدایات کے مطابق زندگی گزاری ہے جو اُس میں ہمارے لئے درج کی گئی ہیں۔“

So Hilkiah the priest, and Ahikam, and Achbor, and Shaphan, and Asahiah, went unto Huldah the prophetess, the wife of Shallum the son of Tikvah, the son of Harhas, keeper of the wardrobe; (now she dwelt in Jerusalem in the college;) and they communed with her.

چنانچہ خِلقیاہ امام، اخی قام، عکبور، سافن اور عسایاہ خُلدہ نبیہ کو ملنے گئے۔ خُلدہ کا شوہر سلّوم بن تِقوَہ بن خرخس رب کے گھر کے کپڑے سنبھالتا تھا۔ وہ یروشلم کے نئے علاقے میں رہتے تھے۔

And she said unto them, Thus saith the LORD God of Israel, Tell the man that sent you to me,

خُلدہ نے اُنہیں جواب دیا، ”رب اسرائیل کا خدا فرماتا ہے کہ جس آدمی نے تمہیں بھیجا ہے اُسے بتا دینا، ’رب فرماتا ہے کہ مَیں اِس شہر اور اُس کے باشندوں پر آفت نازل کروں گا۔ وہ تمام باتیں پوری ہو جائیں گی جو یہوداہ کے بادشاہ نے کتاب میں پڑھی ہیں۔

Thus saith the LORD, Behold, I will bring evil upon this place, and upon the inhabitants thereof, even all the words of the book which the king of Judah hath read:

خُلدہ نے اُنہیں جواب دیا، ”رب اسرائیل کا خدا فرماتا ہے کہ جس آدمی نے تمہیں بھیجا ہے اُسے بتا دینا، ’رب فرماتا ہے کہ مَیں اِس شہر اور اُس کے باشندوں پر آفت نازل کروں گا۔ وہ تمام باتیں پوری ہو جائیں گی جو یہوداہ کے بادشاہ نے کتاب میں پڑھی ہیں۔

Because they have forsaken me, and have burned incense unto other gods, that they might provoke me to anger with all the works of their hands; therefore my wrath shall be kindled against this place, and shall not be quenched.

کیونکہ میری قوم نے مجھے ترک کر کے دیگر معبودوں کو قربانیاں پیش کی ہیں اور اپنے ہاتھوں سے بُت بنا کر مجھے طیش دلایا ہے۔ میرا غضب اِس مقام پر نازل ہو جائے گا اور کبھی ختم نہیں ہو گا۔‘

But to the king of Judah which sent you to enquire of the LORD, thus shall ye say to him, Thus saith the LORD God of Israel, As touching the words which thou hast heard;

لیکن یہوداہ کے بادشاہ کے پاس جائیں جس نے آپ کو رب سے دریافت کرنے کے لئے بھیجا ہے اور اُسے بتا دیں کہ رب اسرائیل کا خدا فرماتا ہے، ’میری باتیں سن کر

Because thine heart was tender, and thou hast humbled thyself before the LORD, when thou heardest what I spake against this place, and against the inhabitants thereof, that they should become a desolation and a curse, and hast rent thy clothes, and wept before me; I also have heard thee, saith the LORD.

تیرا دل نرم ہو گیا ہے۔ جب تجھے پتا چلا کہ مَیں نے اِس مقام اور اِس کے باشندوں کے بارے میں فرمایا ہے کہ وہ لعنتی اور تباہ ہو جائیں گے تو تُو نے اپنے آپ کو رب کے سامنے پست کر دیا۔ تُو نے رنجیدہ ہو کر اپنے کپڑے پھاڑ لئے اور میرے حضور پھوٹ پھوٹ کر رویا۔ رب فرماتا ہے کہ یہ دیکھ کر مَیں نے تیری سنی ہے۔

Behold therefore, I will gather thee unto thy fathers, and thou shalt be gathered into thy grave in peace; and thine eyes shall not see all the evil which I will bring upon this place. And they brought the king word again.

جب تُو میرے کہنے پر مر کر اپنے باپ دادا سے جا ملے گا تو سلامتی سے دفن ہو گا۔ جو آفت مَیں شہر پر نازل کروں گا وہ تُو خود نہیں دیکھے گا‘۔“ افسر بادشاہ کے پاس واپس گئے اور اُسے خُلدہ کا جواب سنا دیا۔
