I Samuel 10

Then Samuel took a vial of oil, and poured it upon his head, and kissed him, and said, Is it not because the LORD hath anointed thee to be captain over his inheritance?

پھر سموایل نے کُپّی لے کر ساؤل کے سر پر زیتون کا تیل اُنڈیل دیا اور اُسے بوسہ دے کر کہا، ”رب نے آپ کو اپنی خاص ملکیت پر راہنما مقرر کیا ہے۔

When thou art departed from me to day, then thou shalt find two men by Rachel's sepulchre in the border of Benjamin at Zelzah; and they will say unto thee, The asses which thou wentest to seek are found: and, lo, thy father hath left the care of the asses, and sorroweth for you, saying, What shall I do for my son?

میرے پاس سے چلے جانے کے بعد جب آپ بن یمین کی سرحد کے شہر ضلضخ کے قریب راخل کی قبر کے پاس سے گزریں گے تو آپ کی ملاقات دو آدمیوں سے ہو گی۔ وہ آپ سے کہیں گے، ’جو گدھیاں آپ ڈھونڈنے گئے وہ مل گئی ہیں۔ اور اب آپ کے باپ گدھیوں کی نہیں بلکہ آپ کی فکر کر رہے ہیں۔ وہ کہہ رہے ہیں کہ مَیں کس طرح اپنے بیٹے کا پتا کروں؟‘

Then shalt thou go on forward from thence, and thou shalt come to the plain of Tabor, and there shall meet thee three men going up to God to Beth–el, one carrying three kids, and another carrying three loaves of bread, and another carrying a bottle of wine:

آپ آگے جا کر تبور کے بلوط کے درخت کے پاس پہنچیں گے۔ وہاں تین آدمی آپ سے ملیں گے جو اللہ کی عبادت کرنے کے لئے بیت ایل جا رہے ہوں گے۔ ایک کے پاس تین چھوٹی بکریاں، دوسرے کے پاس تین روٹیاں اور تیسرے کے پاس مَے کی مشک ہو گی۔

And they will salute thee, and give thee two loaves of bread; which thou shalt receive of their hands.

وہ آپ کو سلام کہہ کر دو روٹیاں دیں گے۔ اُن کی یہ روٹیاں قبول کریں۔

After that thou shalt come to the hill of God, where is the garrison of the Philistines: and it shall come to pass, when thou art come thither to the city, that thou shalt meet a company of prophets coming down from the high place with a psaltery, and a tabret, and a pipe, and a harp, before them; and they shall prophesy:

اِس کے بعد آپ اللہ کے جِبعہ جائیں گے جہاں فلستیوں کی چوکی ہے۔ شہر میں داخل ہوتے وقت آپ کی ملاقات نبیوں کے ایک جلوس سے ہو گی جو اُس وقت پہاڑی کی قربان گاہ سے اُتر رہا ہو گا۔ اُن کے آگے آگے ستار، دف، بانسریاں اور سرود بجانے والے چلیں گے، اور وہ نبوّت کی حالت میں ہوں گے۔

And the Spirit of the LORD will come upon thee, and thou shalt prophesy with them, and shalt be turned into another man.

رب کا روح آپ پر بھی نازل ہو گا، اور آپ اُن کے ساتھ نبوّت کریں گے۔ اُس وقت آپ فرق شخص میں تبدیل ہو جائیں گے۔

And let it be, when these signs are come unto thee, that thou do as occasion serve thee; for God is with thee.

جب یہ تمام نشان وجود میں آئیں گے تو وہ کچھ کریں جو آپ کے ذہن میں آ جائے، کیونکہ اللہ آپ کے ساتھ ہو گا۔

And thou shalt go down before me to Gilgal; and, behold, I will come down unto thee, to offer burnt offerings, and to sacrifice sacrifices of peace offerings: seven days shalt thou tarry, till I come to thee, and shew thee what thou shalt do.

پھر میرے آگے جِلجال چلے جائیں۔ مَیں بھی آؤں گا اور وہاں بھسم ہونے والی اور سلامتی کی قربانیاں پیش کروں گا۔ لیکن آپ کو سات دن میرا انتظار کرنا ہے۔ پھر مَیں آ کر آپ کو بتا دوں گا کہ آگے کیا کرنا ہے۔“

And it was so, that when he had turned his back to go from Samuel, God gave him another heart: and all those signs came to pass that day.

ساؤل روانہ ہونے کے لئے سموایل کے پاس سے مُڑا تو اللہ نے اُس کا دل تبدیل کر دیا۔ جن بھی نشانوں کی پیش گوئی سموایل نے کی تھی وہ اُسی دن پوری ہوئی۔

And when they came thither to the hill, behold, a company of prophets met him; and the Spirit of God came upon him, and he prophesied among them.

جب ساؤل اور اُس کا نوکر جِبعہ پہنچے تو وہاں اُن کی ملاقات مذکورہ نبیوں کے جلوس سے ہوئی۔ اللہ کا روح ساؤل پر نازل ہوا، اور وہ اُن کے درمیان نبوّت کرنے لگا۔

And it came to pass, when all that knew him beforetime saw that, behold, he prophesied among the prophets, then the people said one to another, What is this that is come unto the son of Kish? Is Saul also among the prophets?

کچھ لوگ وہاں تھے جو بچپن سے اُس سے واقف تھے۔ ساؤل کو یوں نبیوں کے درمیان نبوّت کرتے ہوئے دیکھ کر وہ آپس میں کہنے لگے، ”قیس کے بیٹے کے ساتھ کیا ہوا؟ کیا ساؤل کو بھی نبیوں میں شمار کیا جاتا ہے؟“

And one of the same place answered and said, But who is their father? Therefore it became a proverb, Is Saul also among the prophets?

ایک مقامی آدمی نے جواب دیا، ”کون اِن کا باپ ہے؟“ بعد میں یہ محاورہ بن گیا، ”کیا ساؤل کو بھی نبیوں میں شمار کیا جاتا ہے؟“

And when he had made an end of prophesying, he came to the high place.

نبوّت کرنے کے اختتام پر ساؤل پہاڑی پر چڑھ گیا جہاں قربان گاہ تھی۔

And Saul's uncle said unto him and to his servant, Whither went ye? And he said, To seek the asses: and when we saw that they were no where, we came to Samuel.

جب ساؤل نوکر سمیت وہاں پہنچا تو اُس کے چچا نے پوچھا، ”آپ کہاں تھے؟“ ساؤل نے جواب دیا، ”ہم گم شدہ گدھیوں کو ڈھونڈنے کے لئے نکلے تھے۔ لیکن جب وہ نہ ملیں تو ہم سموایل کے پاس گئے۔“

And Saul's uncle said, Tell me, I pray thee, what Samuel said unto you.

چچا بولا، ”اچھا؟ اُس نے آپ کو کیا بتایا؟“

And Saul said unto his uncle, He told us plainly that the asses were found. But of the matter of the kingdom, whereof Samuel spake, he told him not.

ساؤل نے جواب دیا، ”خیر، اُس نے کہا کہ گدھیاں مل گئی ہیں۔“ لیکن جو کچھ سموایل نے بادشاہ بننے کے بارے میں بتایا تھا اُس کا ذکر اُس نے نہ کیا۔

And Samuel called the people together unto the LORD to Mizpeh;

کچھ دیر کے بعد سموایل نے عوام کو بُلا کر مِصفاہ میں رب کے حضور جمع کیا۔

And said unto the children of Israel, Thus saith the LORD God of Israel, I brought up Israel out of Egypt, and delivered you out of the hand of the Egyptians, and out of the hand of all kingdoms, and of them that oppressed you:

اُس نے کہا، ”رب اسرائیل کا خدا فرماتا ہے، ’مَیں اسرائیل کو مصر سے نکال لایا۔ مَیں نے تمہیں مصریوں اور اُن تمام سلطنتوں سے بچایا جو تم پر ظلم کر رہی تھیں۔

And ye have this day rejected your God, who himself saved you out of all your adversities and your tribulations; and ye have said unto him, Nay, but set a king over us. Now therefore present yourselves before the LORD by your tribes, and by your thousands.

لیکن گو مَیں نے تمہیں تمہاری تمام مصیبتوں اور تنگیوں سے چھٹکارا دیا توبھی تم نے اپنے خدا کو مسترد کر دیا۔ کیونکہ تم نے اصرار کیا کہ ہم پر بادشاہ مقرر کرو! اب اپنے اپنے قبیلوں اور خاندانوں کی ترتیب کے مطابق رب کے حضور کھڑے ہو جاؤ‘۔“

And when Samuel had caused all the tribes of Israel to come near, the tribe of Benjamin was taken.

یہ کہہ کر سموایل نے تمام قبیلوں کو رب کے حضور پیش کیا۔ قرعہ ڈالا گیا تو بن یمین کے قبیلے کو چنا گیا۔

When he had caused the tribe of Benjamin to come near by their families, the family of Matri was taken, and Saul the son of Kish was taken: and when they sought him, he could not be found.

پھر سموایل نے بن یمین کے قبیلے کے سارے خاندانوں کو رب کے حضور پیش کیا۔ مطری کے خاندان کو چنا گیا۔ یوں قرعہ ڈالتے ڈالتے ساؤل بن قیس کو چنا گیا۔ لیکن جب ساؤل کو ڈھونڈا گیا تو وہ غائب تھا۔

Therefore they enquired of the LORD further, if the man should yet come thither. And the LORD answered, Behold, he hath hid himself among the stuff.

اُنہوں نے رب سے دریافت کیا، ”کیا ساؤل یہاں پہنچ چکا ہے؟“ رب نے جواب دیا، ”وہ سامان کے بیچ میں چھپ گیا ہے۔“

And they ran and fetched him thence: and when he stood among the people, he was higher than any of the people from his shoulders and upward.

کچھ لوگ دوڑ کر اُسے سامان میں سے نکال کر عوام کے پاس لے آئے۔ جب وہ لوگوں میں کھڑا ہوا تو اِتنا لمبا تھا کہ باقی سب لوگ صرف اُس کے کندھوں تک آتے تھے۔

And Samuel said to all the people, See ye him whom the LORD hath chosen, that there is none like him among all the people? And all the people shouted, and said, God save the king.

سموایل نے کہا، ”یہ آدمی دیکھو جسے رب نے چن لیا ہے۔ عوام میں اُس جیسا کوئی نہیں ہے!“ تمام لوگ خوشی کے مارے ”بادشاہ زندہ باد!“ کا نعرہ لگاتے رہے۔

Then Samuel told the people the manner of the kingdom, and wrote it in a book, and laid it up before the LORD. And Samuel sent all the people away, every man to his house.

سموایل نے بادشاہ کے حقوق تفصیل سے سنائے۔ اُس نے سب کچھ کتاب میں لکھ دیا اور اُسے رب کے مقدِس میں محفوظ رکھا۔ پھر اُس نے عوام کو رُخصت کر دیا۔

And Saul also went home to Gibeah; and there went with him a band of men, whose hearts God had touched.

ساؤل بھی اپنے گھر چلا گیا جو جِبعہ میں تھا۔ کچھ فوجی اُس کے ساتھ چلے جن کے دلوں کو اللہ نے چھو دیا تھا۔

But the children of Belial said, How shall this man save us? And they despised him, and brought him no presents. But he held his peace.

لیکن ایسے شریر لوگ بھی تھے جنہوں نے اُس کا مذاق اُڑا کر پوچھا، ”بھلا یہ کس طرح ہمیں بچا سکتا ہے؟“ وہ اُسے حقیر جانتے تھے اور اُسے تحفے پیش کرنے کے لئے بھی تیار نہ ہوئے۔ لیکن ساؤل اُن کی باتیں نظرانداز کر کے خاموش ہی رہا۔
