I Corinthians 5

It is reported commonly that there is fornication among you, and such fornication as is not so much as named among the Gentiles, that one should have his father's wife.

یہ بات ہمارے کانوں تک پہنچی ہے کہ آپ کے درمیان زناکاری ہو رہی ہے، بلکہ ایسی زناکاری جسے غیریہودی بھی روا نہیں سمجھتے۔ کہتے ہیں کہ آپ میں سے کسی نے اپنی سوتیلی ماں سے شادی کر رکھی ہے۔

And ye are puffed up, and have not rather mourned, that he that hath done this deed might be taken away from among you.

کمال ہے کہ آپ اِس فعل پر نادم نہیں بلکہ پھولے پھر رہے ہیں! کیا مناسب نہ ہوتا کہ آپ دُکھ محسوس کر کے اِس بدی کے مرتکب کو اپنے درمیان سے خارج کر دیتے؟

For I verily, as absent in body, but present in spirit, have judged already, as though I were present, concerning him that hath so done this deed,

گو مَیں جسم کے لحاظ سے آپ کے پاس نہیں، لیکن روح کے لحاظ سے ضرور ہوں۔ اور مَیں اُس شخص پر فتویٰ اِس طرح دے چکا ہوں جیسے کہ مَیں آپ کے درمیان موجود ہوں۔

In the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, when ye are gathered together, and my spirit, with the power of our Lord Jesus Christ,

جب آپ ہمارے خداوند عیسیٰ کے نام میں جمع ہوں گے تو مَیں روح میں آپ کے ساتھ ہوں گا اور ہمارے خداوند عیسیٰ کی قدرت بھی۔

To deliver such an one unto Satan for the destruction of the flesh, that the spirit may be saved in the day of the Lord Jesus.

اُس وقت ایسے شخص کو ابلیس کے حوالے کریں تاکہ صرف اُس کا جسم ہلاک ہو جائے، لیکن اُس کی روح خداوند کے دن رِہائی پائے۔

Your glorying is not good. Know ye not that a little leaven leaveneth the whole lump?

آپ کا فخر کرنا اچھا نہیں۔ کیا آپ کو معلوم نہیں کہ جب ہم تھوڑا سا خمیر تازہ گُندھے ہوئے آٹے میں ملاتے ہیں تو وہ سارے آٹے کو خمیر کر دیتا ہے؟

Purge out therefore the old leaven, that ye may be a new lump, as ye are unleavened. For even Christ our passover is sacrificed for us:

اپنے آپ کو خمیر سے پاک صاف کر کے تازہ گُندھا ہوا آٹا بن جائیں۔ در حقیقت آپ ہیں بھی پاک، کیونکہ ہمارا عیدِ فسح کا لیلا مسیح ہمارے لئے ذبح ہو چکا ہے۔

Therefore let us keep the feast, not with old leaven, neither with the leaven of malice and wickedness; but with the unleavened bread of sincerity and truth.

اِس لئے آئیے ہم پرانے خمیری آٹے یعنی بُرائی اور بدی کو دُور کر کے تازہ گُندھے ہوئے آٹے یعنی خلوص اور سچائی کی روٹیاں بنا کر فسح کی عید منائیں۔

I wrote unto you in an epistle not to company with fornicators:

مَیں نے خط میں لکھا تھا کہ آپ زناکاروں سے تعلق نہ رکھیں۔

Yet not altogether with the fornicators of this world, or with the covetous, or extortioners, or with idolaters; for then must ye needs go out of the world.

میرا مطلب یہ نہیں تھا کہ آپ اِس دنیا کے زناکاروں سے تعلق منقطع کر لیں یا اِس دنیا کے لالچیوں، لٹیروں اور بُت پرستوں سے۔ اگر آپ ایسا کرتے تو لازم ہوتا کہ آپ دنیا ہی سے کوچ کر جاتے۔

But now I have written unto you not to keep company, if any man that is called a brother be a fornicator, or covetous, or an idolater, or a railer, or a drunkard, or an extortioner; with such an one no not to eat.

نہیں، میرا مطلب یہ تھا کہ آپ ایسے شخص سے تعلق نہ رکھیں جو مسیح میں تو بھائی کہلاتا ہے مگر ہے وہ زناکار یا لالچی یا بُت پرست یا گالی گلوچ کرنے والا یا شرابی یا لٹیرا۔ ایسے شخص کے ساتھ کھانا تک بھی نہ کھائیں۔

For what have I to do to judge them also that are without? do not ye judge them that are within?

مَیں اُن لوگوں کی عدالت کیوں کرتا پھروں جو ایمان داروں کی جماعت سے باہر ہیں؟ کیا آپ خود بھی صرف اُن کی عدالت نہیں کرتے جو جماعت کے اندر ہیں؟

But them that are without God judgeth. Therefore put away from among yourselves that wicked person.

باہر والوں کی عدالت تو خدا ہی کرے گا۔ کلامِ مُقدّس میں یوں لکھا ہے، ’شریر کو اپنے درمیان سے نکال دو۔‘
