Proverbs 22

A good name is rather to be chosen than great riches, and loving favour rather than silver and gold.

Προτιμοτερον ονομα καλον παρα πλουτη μεγαλα, χαρις αγαθη παρα αργυριον και χρυσιον.

The rich and poor meet together: the LORD is the maker of them all.

Πλουσιος και πτωχος συναπαντωνται ο Κυριος ειναι ο Ποιητης αμφοτερων τουτων.

A prudent man foreseeth the evil, and hideth himself: but the simple pass on, and are punished.

Ο φρονιμος προβλεπει το κακον και κρυπτεται οι αφρονες ομως προχωρουσι και τιμωρουνται.

By humility and the fear of the LORD are riches, and honour, and life.

Η αμοιβη της ταπεινωσεως και του φοβου του Κυριου ειναι πλουτος και δοξα και ζωη.

Thorns and snares are in the way of the froward: he that doth keep his soul shall be far from them.

Τριβολοι και παγιδες ειναι εν τη οδω του σκολιου οστις φυλαττει την ψυχην αυτου, θελει εισθαι μακραν απ αυτων.

Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it.

Διδαξον το παιδιον εν αρχη της οδου αυτου και δεν θελει απομακρυνθη απ αυτης ουδε οταν γηραση.

The rich ruleth over the poor, and the borrower is servant to the lender.

Ο πλουσιος εξουσιαζει τους πτωχους και ο δανειζομενος ειναι δουλος του δανειζοντος.

He that soweth iniquity shall reap vanity: and the rod of his anger shall fail.

Ο σπειρων ανομιαν θελει θερισει συμφορας και η ραβδος της υβρεως αυτου θελει εκλειψει.

He that hath a bountiful eye shall be blessed; for he giveth of his bread to the poor.

Ο εχων ομμα αγαθον θελει ευλογηθη διοτι διδει εκ του αρτου αυτου εις τον πτωχον.

Cast out the scorner, and contention shall go out; yea, strife and reproach shall cease.

Εκδιωξον τον χλευαστην και θελει συνεξελθει η φιλονεικια, και η ερις και η υβρις θελουσι παυσει.

He that loveth pureness of heart, for the grace of his lips the king shall be his friend.

Οστις αγαπα την καθαροτητα της καρδιας, δια την χαριν των χειλεων αυτου ο βασιλευς θελει εισθαι φιλος αυτου.

The eyes of the LORD preserve knowledge, and he overthroweth the words of the transgressor.

Οι οφθαλμοι του Κυριου περιφρουρουσι την γνωσιν ανατρεπει δε τας υποθεσεις του παρανομου.

The slothful man saith, There is a lion without, I shall be slain in the streets.

Ο οκνηρος λεγει, Λεων ειναι εξω εν τω μεσω των πλατειων θελω φονευθη.

The mouth of strange women is a deep pit: he that is abhorred of the LORD shall fall therein.

Στομα γυναικος αλλοτριας ειναι λακκος βαθυς ο μισουμενος υπο Κυριου θελει εμπεσει εις αυτον.

Foolishness is bound in the heart of a child; but the rod of correction shall drive it far from him.

Η ανοησια ειναι συνδεδεμενη μετα της καρδιας του παιδιου η ραβδος της παιδειας θελει αποχωρισει αυτην απ αυτου.

He that oppresseth the poor to increase his riches, and he that giveth to the rich, shall surely come to want.

Οστις καταθλιβει τον πτωχον δια να αυξηση τα πλουτη αυτου, και οστις διδει εις τον πλουσιον, θελει ελθει βεβαιως εις ενδειαν.

Bow down thine ear, and hear the words of the wise, and apply thine heart unto my knowledge.

Κλινον το ωτιον σου και ακουε τους λογους των σοφων, και προσκολλησον την καρδιαν σου εις την γνωσιν μου

For it is a pleasant thing if thou keep them within thee; they shall withal be fitted in thy lips.

διοτι ειναι τερπνοι, εαν φυλαττη αυτους εν τη καρδια σου και θελουσι συναρμοζεσθαι ομου επι των χειλεων σου.

That thy trust may be in the LORD, I have made known to thee this day, even to thee.

Δια να ηναι το θαρρος σου επι τον Κυριον, εδιδαξα ταυτα εις σε την ημεραν ταυτην, μαλιστα εις σε.

Have not I written to thee excellent things in counsels and knowledge,

Δεν εγραψα εις σε πολλακις δια συμβουλων και γνωσεων,

That I might make thee know the certainty of the words of truth; that thou mightest answer the words of truth to them that send unto thee?

δια να σε καμω να γνωρισης την βεβαιοτητα των λογων της αληθειας, ωστε να αποκρινησαι λογους αληθειας προς τους εξαποστελλοντας σε;

Rob not the poor, because he is poor: neither oppress the afflicted in the gate:

Μη γυμνονης τον πτωχον, διοτι ειναι πτωχος μηδε καταθλιβε εις την πυλην τον δυστυχουντα

For the LORD will plead their cause, and spoil the soul of those that spoiled them.

διοτι ο Κυριος θελει εκδικασει την δικην αυτων και θελει γυμνωσει την ψυχην των γυμνωσαντων αυτους.

Make no friendship with an angry man; and with a furious man thou shalt not go:

Μη καμνε φιλιαν μετα ανθρωπου θυμωδους και μετα ανθρωπου οργιλου μη συμπεριπατει

Lest thou learn his ways, and get a snare to thy soul.

μηποτε μαθης τας οδους αυτου, και λαβης παγιδα εις την ψυχην σου.

Be not thou one of them that strike hands, or of them that are sureties for debts.

Μη εσο εκ των διδοντων χειρα, εκ των εγγυωμενων δια χρεη.

If thou hast nothing to pay, why should he take away thy bed from under thee?

Εαν δεν εχης ποθεν να πληρωσης, δια τι να παρωσι την κλινην σου υποκατωθεν σου;

Remove not the ancient landmark, which thy fathers have set.

Μη μετακινει ορια αρχαια, τα οποια εθεσαν οι πατερες σου.

Seest thou a man diligent in his business? he shall stand before kings; he shall not stand before mean men.

Ειδες ανθρωπον επιτηδειον εις τα εργα αυτου; αυτος θελει παρασταθη ενωπιον βασιλεων δεν θελει παρασταθη ενωπιον ουτιδανων.
