Obadiah 1

The vision of Obadiah. Thus saith the Lord GOD concerning Edom; We have heard a rumour from the LORD, and an ambassador is sent among the heathen, Arise ye, and let us rise up against her in battle.

Ορασις Αβδιου. Ουτω λεγει Κυριος ο Θεος περι του Εδωμ Ηκουσαμεν αγγελιαν παρα Κυριου και μηνυτης απεσταλη προς τα εθνη, Εγερθητε και ας εγερθωμεν εναντιον αυτου εις πολεμον.

Behold, I have made thee small among the heathen: thou art greatly despised.

Ιδου, σε κατεστησα μικρον μεταξυ των εθνων εισαι καταπεφρονημενος σφοδρα.

The pride of thine heart hath deceived thee, thou that dwellest in the clefts of the rock, whose habitation is high; that saith in his heart, Who shall bring me down to the ground?

Η υπερηφανια της καρδιας σου ηπατησε σε τον κατοικουντα εν τοις κοιλωμασι των κρημνων, του οποιου η κατοικια ειναι υψηλη, οστις λεγει εν τη καρδια αυτου, Τις θελει με καταβιβασει εις την γην;

Though thou exalt thyself as the eagle, and though thou set thy nest among the stars, thence will I bring thee down, saith the LORD.

Εαν μετεωρισθης ως αετος και εαν θεσης την φωλεαν σου αναμεσον των αστρων, και εκειθεν θελω σε καταβιβασει, λεγει Κυριος.

If thieves came to thee, if robbers by night, (how art thou cut off!) would they not have stolen till they had enough? if the grapegatherers came to thee, would they not leave some grapes?

Εαν κλεπται ηρχοντο προς σε, εαν λησται δια νυκτος−πως εξηλειφθης−δεν ηθελον αρπασει το αρκουν εις αυτους; εαν τρυγηται ηρχοντο προς σε, δεν ηθελον αφησει επιφυλλιδας;

How are the things of Esau searched out! how are his hidden things sought up!

Πως εξηρευνηθη ο Ησαυ απεκαλυφθησαν οι κρυψωνες αυτου.

All the men of thy confederacy have brought thee even to the border: the men that were at peace with thee have deceived thee, and prevailed against thee; they that eat thy bread have laid a wound under thee: there is none understanding in him.

Παντες οι ανδρες της συμμαχιας σου σε συνωδευσαν εως του οριου σου οι ανθρωποι, οιτινες ησαν εν ειρηνη μετα σου, σε ηπατησαν και υπερισχυσαν εναντιον σου οι τρωγοντες τον αρτον σου εβαλον ενεδραν υποκατω σου δεν υπαρχει συνεσις εν αυτω.

Shall I not in that day, saith the LORD, even destroy the wise men out of Edom, and understanding out of the mount of Esau?

Εν τη ημερα εκεινη, λεγει Κυριος, δεν θελω απολεσει και τους σοφους απο του Εδωμ και την συνεσιν απο του ορους του Ησαυ;

And thy mighty men, O Teman, shall be dismayed, to the end that every one of the mount of Esau may be cut off by slaughter.

Και οι μαχηται σου, Θαιμαν, θελουσι πτοηθη, δια να εκκοπη εν σφαγη πας ανθρωπος εκ του ορους του Ησαυ.

For thy violence against thy brother Jacob shame shall cover thee, and thou shalt be cut off for ever.

Δια την αδικιαν την προς τον αδελφον σου Ιακωβ θελει σε καλυψει αισχυνη και θελεις εκκοπη διαπαντος.

In the day that thou stoodest on the other side, in the day that the strangers carried away captive his forces, and foreigners entered into his gates, and cast lots upon Jerusalem, even thou wast as one of them.

Εν τη ημερα καθ ην ιστασο απεναντι, τη ημερα καθ ην οι αλλογενεις εφεραν εις αιχμαλωσιαν το στρατευμα αυτου και οι αλλοτριοι εισηλθον εις τας πυλας αυτου και εβαλον κληρους επι την Ιερουσαλημ, εσο και συ ως εις αυτων.

But thou shouldest not have looked on the day of thy brother in the day that he became a stranger; neither shouldest thou have rejoiced over the children of Judah in the day of their destruction; neither shouldest thou have spoken proudly in the day of distress.

Δεν επρεπεν ομως να επιβλεπης εις την ημεραν του αδελφου σου, εις την ημεραν της αποξενωσεως αυτου, ουδε να επιχαιρης κατα των υιων του Ιουδα εν τη ημερα του αφανισμου αυτων, ουδε να μεγαλορρημονης εν τη ημερα της θλιψεως αυτων.

Thou shouldest not have entered into the gate of my people in the day of their calamity; yea, thou shouldest not have looked on their affliction in the day of their calamity, nor have laid hands on their substance in the day of their calamity;

Δεν επρεπε να εισελθης εις την πυλην του λαου μου εν τη ημερα της συμφορας αυτων, ουδε να θεωρης και συ την θλιψιν αυτων εν τη ημερα της συμφορας αυτων, ουδε να επιβαλης χειρα επι την περιουσιαν αυτων εν τη ημερα της συμφορας αυτων,

Neither shouldest thou have stood in the crossway, to cut off those of his that did escape; neither shouldest thou have delivered up those of his that did remain in the day of distress.

ουδε επρεπε να σταθης επι τας διεξοδους, δια να αποκλειης τους διασωζομενους αυτου ουδε να παραδωσης τους υπολοιπους αυτου εν τη ημερα της θλιψεως αυτων

For the day of the LORD is near upon all the heathen: as thou hast done, it shall be done unto thee: thy reward shall return upon thine own head.

διοτι εγγυς ειναι η ημερα του Κυριου επι παντα τα εθνη καθως εκαμες θελει γεινει εις σε η ανταποδοσις σου θελει στρεψει επι την κεφαλην σου.

For as ye have drunk upon my holy mountain, so shall all the heathen drink continually, yea, they shall drink, and they shall swallow down, and they shall be as though they had not been.

Διοτι καθως σεις επιετε επι το ορος το αγιον μου, ουτω θελουσι πινει διαπαντος παντα τα εθνη ναι, θελουσι πινει και θελουσιν εκροφει και θελουσιν εισθαι ως οι μη υπαρχοντες

But upon mount Zion shall be deliverance, and there shall be holiness; and the house of Jacob shall possess their possessions.

Επι δε του ορους Σιων θελει εισθαι σωτηρια και θελει εισθαι αγιον και ο οικος Ιακωβ θελει κατακληρονομησει τας κληρονομιας αυτων

And the house of Jacob shall be a fire, and the house of Joseph a flame, and the house of Esau for stubble, and they shall kindle in them, and devour them; and there shall not be any remaining of the house of Esau; for the LORD hath spoken it.

και ο οικος Ιακωβ θελει εισθαι πυρ και ο οικος Ιωσηφ φλοξ, ο δε οικος Ησαυ ως καλαμη και θελουσιν εξαφθη κατ αυτων και καταφαγει αυτους και δεν θελει εισθαι υπολοιπον του οικου Ησαυ διοτι Κυριος ελαλησε.

And they of the south shall possess the mount of Esau; and they of the plain the Philistines: and they shall possess the fields of Ephraim, and the fields of Samaria: and Benjamin shall possess Gilead.

Και οι της μεσημβριας θελουσι κατακληρονομησει το ορος του Ησαυ και οι της πεδινης τους Φιλισταιους και θελουσι κατακληρονομησει τους αγρους του Εφραιμ και τους αγρους της Σαμαρειας, ο δε Βενιαμιν την Γαλααδ,

And the captivity of this host of the children of Israel shall possess that of the Canaanites, even unto Zarephath; and the captivity of Jerusalem, which is in Sepharad, shall possess the cities of the south.

και το αιχμαλωτισθεν τουτο στρατευμα των υιων Ισραηλ την γην εκεινην των Χαναναιων εως Σαρεπτα, και οι αιχμαλωτισθεντες της Ιερουσαλημ, οι εν Σεφαραδ, θελουσι κατακληρονομησει τας πολεις του νοτου

And saviours shall come up on mount Zion to judge the mount of Esau; and the kingdom shall be the LORD'S.

και θελουσιν αναβη σωτηρες εις το ορος Σιων, δια να κρινωσι το ορος του Ησαυ και του Κυριου θελει εισθαι η βασιλεια.
