Acts 27

And when it was determined that we should sail into Italy, they delivered Paul and certain other prisoners unto one named Julius, a centurion of Augustus' band.

Αφου δε απεφασισθη να αποπλευσωμεν εις την Ιταλιαν, παρεδωκαν τον Παυλον και τινας αλλους δεσμιους εις εκατονταρχον Ιουλιον ονομαζομενον, εκ του ταγματος του Σεβαστου λεγομενου.

And entering into a ship of Adramyttium, we launched, meaning to sail by the coasts of Asia; one Aristarchus, a Macedonian of Thessalonica, being with us.

Και αφου επεβημεν εις πλοιον Αδραμυττηνον, εσηκωθημεν μελλοντες να παραπλευσωμεν τους κατα την Ασιαν τοπους, εχοντες μεθ ημων Αρισταρχον τον Μακεδονα τον εκ Θεσσαλονικης

And the next day we touched at Sidon. And Julius courteously entreated Paul, and gave him liberty to go unto his friends to refresh himself.

και την αλλην ημεραν εφθασαμεν εις Σιδωνα και ο Ιουλιος φιλανθρωπως φερομενος προς τον Παυλον επετρεψεν εις αυτον να υπαγη προς τους φιλους αυτου και να λαβη περιθαλψιν.

And when we had launched from thence, we sailed under Cyprus, because the winds were contrary.

Και εκειθεν σηκωθεντες υπεπλευσαμεν την Κυπρον, επειδη ησαν εναντιοι οι ανεμοι,

And when we had sailed over the sea of Cilicia and Pamphylia, we came to Myra, a city of Lycia.

και διαπλευσαντες το πελαγος της Κιλικιας και Παμφυλιας, ηλθομεν εις τα Μυρα της Λυκιας.

And there the centurion found a ship of Alexandria sailing into Italy; and he put us therein.

Και εκει ευρων ο εκατονταρχος πλοιον Αλεξανδρινον, το οποιον επλεεν εις την Ιταλιαν, επεβιβασεν ημας εις αυτο

And when we had sailed slowly many days, and scarce were come over against Cnidus, the wind not suffering us, we sailed under Crete, over against Salmone;

βραδυπλοουντες δε ικανας ημερας και μολις φθασαντες εις την Κνιδον, επειδη δεν μας αφινεν ο ανεμος, υπεπλευσαμεν την Κρητην κατα την Σαλμωνην,

And, hardly passing it, came unto a place which is called The fair havens; nigh whereunto was the city of Lasea.

και μολις παραπλευσαντες αυτην, ηλθομεν εις τοπον τινα ονομαζομενον Καλους Λιμενας, πλησιον του οποιου ητο η πολις Λασαια.

Now when much time was spent, and when sailing was now dangerous, because the fast was now already past, Paul admonished them,

Επειδη δε παρηλθεν ικανος καιρος και ο πλους ητο ηδη επικινδυνος, διοτι και η νηστεια ειχεν ηδη παρελθει, συνεβουλευεν ο Παυλος,

And said unto them, Sirs, I perceive that this voyage will be with hurt and much damage, not only of the lading and ship, but also of our lives.

λεγων προς αυτους Ανδρες, βλεπω οτι ο πλους μελλει να γεινη με κακοπαθειαν και πολλην ζημιαν ουχι μονον του φορτιου και του πλοιου, αλλα και των ψυχων ημων.

Nevertheless the centurion believed the master and the owner of the ship, more than those things which were spoken by Paul.

Αλλ ο εκατονταρχος επειθετο μαλλον εις τον κυβερνητην και εις τον ναυκληρον παρα εις τα υπο του Παυλου λεγομενα.

And because the haven was not commodious to winter in, the more part advised to depart thence also, if by any means they might attain to Phenice, and there to winter; which is an haven of Crete, and lieth toward the south west and north west.

Και επειδη ο λιμην δεν ητο επιτηδειος εις παραχειμασιαν, οι πλειοτεροι εγνωμοδοτησαν να σηκωθωσι και εκειθεν, ωστε φθασαντες αν ηδυναντο εις Φοινικα, λιμενα της Κρητης βλεποντα προς τον λιβα ανεμον και προς τον χωρον, να παραχειμασωσιν εκει.

And when the south wind blew softly, supposing that they had obtained their purpose, loosing thence, they sailed close by Crete.

Και οτε επνευσεν ολιγον νοτος, νομισαντες οτι επετυχον του σκοπου, ανεσυραν την αγκυραν και παρεπλεον πλησιον την Κρητην.

But not long after there arose against it a tempestuous wind, called Euroclydon.

Πλην μετ ολιγον προσεβαλε κατ αυτης ανεμος τυφωνικος ο λεγομενος Ευροκλυδων.

And when the ship was caught, and could not bear up into the wind, we let her drive.

Και επειδη το πλοιον συνηρπασθη και δεν ηδυνατο να αντεχη προς τον ανεμον, αφεθεντες εφερομεθα.

And running under a certain island which is called Clauda, we had much work to come by the boat:

Και τρεξαντες υπο νησιδιον τι ονομαζομενον Κλαυδην, μολις ηδυνηθημεν να βαλωμεν εις την εξουσιαν μας την λεμβον,

Which when they had taken up, they used helps, undergirding the ship; and, fearing lest they should fall into the quicksands, strake sail, and so were driven.

την οποιαν αφου ανελαβον μετεχειριζοντο βοηθηματα, ζωνοντες υποκατωθεν το πλοιον και φοβουμενοι μη εκπεσωσιν εις την Συρτιν, κατεβιβασαν τα πανια και εφεροντο ουτως.

And we being exceedingly tossed with a tempest, the next day they lightened the ship;

Και επειδη εχειμαζομεθα σφοδρως, την ακολουθον ημεραν εκαμνον χυσιν,

And the third day we cast out with our own hands the tackling of the ship.

και την τριτην με τας ιδιας ημων χειρας ερριψαμεν τα σκευη του πλοιου

And when neither sun nor stars in many days appeared, and no small tempest lay on us, all hope that we should be saved was then taken away.

και επειδη δια πολλων ημερων δεν εφαινοντο ουτε ηλιος ουτε αστρα, και χειμων βαρυς επεκειτο, πασα ελπις σωτηριας αφηρειτο πλεον αφ ημων.

But after long abstinence Paul stood forth in the midst of them, and said, Sirs, ye should have hearkened unto me, and not have loosed from Crete, and to have gained this harm and loss.

Μετα δε πολυημερον ασιτιαν σταθεις ο Παυλος εν τω μεσω αυτων, ειπεν Επρεπεν, ω ανδρες, να μου υπακουσητε και να μη σηκωθητε απο της Κρητης και ουτως ηθελομεν αποφυγει την κακοπαθειαν ταυτην και την ζημιαν.

And now I exhort you to be of good cheer: for there shall be no loss of any man's life among you, but of the ship.

Αλλα και ηδη σας παραινω να εχητε θαρρος διοτι εξ υμων ουδεμια ψυχη δεν θελει χαθη, ειμη μονον το πλοιον.

For there stood by me this night the angel of God, whose I am, and whom I serve,

Διοτι την νυκτα ταυτην εφανη εις εμε αγγελος του Θεου, του οποιου ειμαι, τον οποιον και λατρευω,

Saying, Fear not, Paul; thou must be brought before Cæsar: and, lo, God hath given thee all them that sail with thee.

λεγων μη φοβου, Παυλε πρεπει να παρασταθης ενωπιον του Καισαρος και ιδου, ο Θεος σοι εχαρισε παντας τους πλεοντας μετα σου.

Wherefore, sirs, be of good cheer: for I believe God, that it shall be even as it was told me.

Δια τουτο θαρρειτε, ανδρες διοτι πιστευω εις τον Θεον οτι ουτω θελει γεινει, καθ ον τροπον ελαληθη προς εμε.

Howbeit we must be cast upon a certain island.

Πρεπει δε να πεσωμεν εις νησον τινα.

But when the fourteenth night was come, as we were driven up and down in Adria, about midnight the shipmen deemed that they drew near to some country;

Οτε δε ηλθεν η δεκατη τεταρτη νυξ, ενω παρεφερομεθα εν τη Αδριατικη θαλασση, περι το μεσον της νυκτος εσυμπεραινον οι ναυται οτι πλησιαζουσιν εις τοπον τινα.

And sounded, and found it twenty fathoms: and when they had gone a little further, they sounded again, and found it fifteen fathoms.

Και ριψαντες την βολιδα ευρον εικοσι οργυιας, και αφου επροχωρησαν ολιγον διαστημα, ριψαντες και παλιν την βολιδα ευρον οργυιας δεκαπεντε

Then fearing lest we should have fallen upon rocks, they cast four anchors out of the stern, and wished for the day.

και φοβουμενοι μηπως πεσωμεν εξω εις τραχεις τοπους, ριψαντες τεσσαρας αγκυρας απο της πρυμνης, ηυχοντο να γεινη ημερα.

And as the shipmen were about to flee out of the ship, when they had let down the boat into the sea, under colour as though they would have cast anchors out of the foreship,

Επειδη δε οι ναυται εζητουν να φυγωσιν εκ του πλοιου και κατεβιβασαν την λεμβον εις την θαλασσαν, επι προφασει οτι εμελλον να εκτεινωσιν αγκυρας εκ της πρωρας,

Paul said to the centurion and to the soldiers, Except these abide in the ship, ye cannot be saved.

ο Παυλος ειπε προς τον εκατονταρχον και προς τους στρατιωτας Εαν ουτοι δεν μεινωσιν εν τω πλοιω, σεις δεν δυνασθε να σωθητε.

Then the soldiers cut off the ropes of the boat, and let her fall off.

Τοτε οι στρατιωται απεκοψαν τα σχοινια της λεμβου και αφηκαν αυτην να πεση εξω.

And while the day was coming on, Paul besought them all to take meat, saying, This day is the fourteenth day that ye have tarried and continued fasting, having taken nothing.

Εως δε να εξημερωση, ο Παυλος παρεκαλει παντας να λαβωσι τροφην τινα, λεγων Δεκατεσσαρας ημερας σημερον προσδοκωντες διαμενετε νηστικοι, και δεν εφαγετε ουδεν.

Wherefore I pray you to take some meat: for this is for your health: for there shall not an hair fall from the head of any of you.

Δια τουτο σας παρακαλω να λαβητε τροφην διοτι τουτο ειναι αναγκαιον προς την σωτηριαν σας επειδη ουδενος απο σας δεν θελει πεσει θριξ εκ της κεφαλης.

And when he had thus spoken, he took bread, and gave thanks to God in presence of them all: and when he had broken it, he began to eat.

Αφου δε ειπε ταυτα και ελαβεν αρτον, ευχαριστησε τον Θεον ενωπιον παντων και κοψας ηρχισε να τρωγη.

Then were they all of good cheer, and they also took some meat.

Λαβοντες δε παντες θαρρος, ελαβον και αυτοι τροφην

And we were in all in the ship two hundred threescore and sixteen souls.

ημεθα δε εν τω πλοιω ψυχαι ολαι διακοσιαι εβδομηκοντα εξ.

And when they had eaten enough, they lightened the ship, and cast out the wheat into the sea.

Αφου δε εχορτασθησαν απο τροφης ελαφρυνον το πλοιον, ριπτοντες τον σιτον εις την θαλασσαν.

And when it was day, they knew not the land: but they discovered a certain creek with a shore, into the which they were minded, if it were possible, to thrust in the ship.

Και οτε εγεινεν ημερα, δεν εγνωριζον την γην, παρετηρουν ομως κολπον τινα εχοντα αιγιαλον, εις τον οποιον εβουλευθησαν, αν ηδυναντο, να εξωσωσι το πλοιον.

And when they had taken up the anchors, they committed themselves unto the sea, and loosed the rudder bands, and hoised up the mainsail to the wind, and made toward shore.

Και κοψαντες τας αγκυρας, αφηκαν το πλοιον εις την θαλασσαν, λυσαντες ενταυτω τους δεσμους των πηδαλιων, και υψωσαντες τον αρτεμονα προς τον ανεμον, κατηυθυνοντο εις τον αιγιαλον.

And falling into a place where two seas met, they ran the ship aground; and the forepart stuck fast, and remained unmoveable, but the hinder part was broken with the violence of the waves.

Περιπεσοντες δε εις τοπον, οπου συνηρχοντο δυο θαλασσαι, ερριψαν εξω το πλοιον, και η μεν πρωρα εκαθησε και εμεινεν ασαλευτος, η δε πρυμνη διελυετο υπο της βιας των κυματων.

And the soldiers' counsel was to kill the prisoners, lest any of them should swim out, and escape.

Εβουλευθησαν δε οι στρατιωται να θανατωσωσι τους δεσμιους, δια να μη φυγη μηδεις κολυμβησας.

But the centurion, willing to save Paul, kept them from their purpose; and commanded that they which could swim should cast themselves first into the sea, and get to land:

Αλλ ο εκατονταρχος, θελων να διασωση τον Παυλον, εμποδισεν αυτους απο του σκοπου και προσεταξεν, οσοι ηδυναντο να κολυμβωσι να ριφθωσι πρωτοι και να εκβωσιν εις την γην,

And the rest, some on boards, and some on broken pieces of the ship. And so it came to pass, that they escaped all safe to land.

οι δε λοιποι αλλοι μεν επι σανιδων, αλλοι δε επι τινων λειψανων του πλοιου, και ουτω διεσωθησαν παντες εις την γην.
