II Samuel 21

Then there was a famine in the days of David three years, year after year; and David enquired of the LORD. And the LORD answered, It is for Saul, and for his bloody house, because he slew the Gibeonites.

Εγεινε δε πεινα εν ταις ημεραις του Δαβιδ τρια ετη κατα συνεχειαν και ηρωτησεν ο Δαβιδ τον Κυριον και ο Κυριος απεκριθη, Τουτο εγεινεν εξ αιτιας του Σαουλ και του φονικου οικου αυτου, διοτι εθανατωσε τους Γαβαωνιτας.

And the king called the Gibeonites, and said unto them; (now the Gibeonites were not of the children of Israel, but of the remnant of the Amorites; and the children of Israel had sworn unto them: and Saul sought to slay them in his zeal to the children of Israel and Judah.)

Και εκαλεσεν ο βασιλευς τους Γαβαωνιτας και ειπε προς αυτους οι δε Γαβαωνιται δεν ησαν των υιων Ισραηλ, αλλ εκ των εναπολειφθεντων Αμορραιων και οι υιοι Ισραηλ ειχον ομοσει προς αυτους ο δε Σαουλ εζητησε να θανατωση αυτους απο του ζηλου αυτου προς τους υιους Ισραηλ και Ιουδα.

Wherefore David said unto the Gibeonites, What shall I do for you? and wherewith shall I make the atonement, that ye may bless the inheritance of the LORD?

Ο Δαβιδ λοιπον ειπε προς τους Γαβαωνιτας, Τι θελω καμει εις εσας; και με τι θελω καμει εξιλεωσιν, δια να ευλογησητε την κληρονομιαν του Κυριου;

And the Gibeonites said unto him, We will have no silver nor gold of Saul, nor of his house; neither for us shalt thou kill any man in Israel. And he said, What ye shall say, that will I do for you.

Οι δε Γαβαωνιται ειπον προς αυτον, Ημεις ουτε περι αργυριου ουτε περι χρυσιου εχομεν να καμωμεν μετα του Σαουλ η μετα του οικου αυτου ουδε ζητουμεν να θανατωσης δια ημας ανθρωπον εκ του Ισραηλ. Και ειπεν, Ο, τι ειπητε, θελω καμει εις εσας.

And they answered the king, The man that consumed us, and that devised against us that we should be destroyed from remaining in any of the coasts of Israel,

Και απεκριθησαν προς τον βασιλεα, Του ανθρωπου, οστις ηφανισεν ημας και οστις εμηχανευθη να εξολοθρευση ημας, ωστε να μη υπαρχωμεν εις ουδεν εκ των οριων του Ισραηλ,

Let seven men of his sons be delivered unto us, and we will hang them up unto the LORD in Gibeah of Saul, whom the LORD did choose. And the king said, I will give them.

ας παραδοθωσιν εις ημας επτα ανθρωποι εκ των υιων αυτου, και θελομεν κρεμασει αυτους προς τον Κυριον εν Γαβαα του Σαουλ, του εκλεκτου του Κυριου. Και ειπεν ο βασιλευς, Εγω θελω παραδωσει αυτους.

But the king spared Mephibosheth, the son of Jonathan the son of Saul, because of the LORD'S oath that was between them, between David and Jonathan the son of Saul.

Τον Μεμφιβοσθε ομως, τον υιον του Ιωναθαν, υιου του Σαουλ, εφεισθη ο βασιλευς, δια τον ορκον του Κυριου τον μεταξυ αυτων, μεταξυ του Δαβιδ και Ιωναθαν υιου του Σαουλ.

But the king took the two sons of Rizpah the daughter of Aiah, whom she bare unto Saul, Armoni and Mephibosheth; and the five sons of Michal the daughter of Saul, whom she brought up for Adriel the son of Barzillai the Meholathite:

Ελαβε δε ο βασιλευς τους δυο υιους της Ρεσφα, θυγατρος του Αια, τους οποιους εγεννησεν εις τον Σαουλ, τον Αρμονει και Μεμφιβοσθε και τους πεντε υιους της Μιχαλ, θυγατρος του Σαουλ, τους οποιους εγεννησεν εις τον Αδριηλ, υιον του Βαρζελλαι του Μεωλαθιτου

And he delivered them into the hands of the Gibeonites, and they hanged them in the hill before the LORD: and they fell all seven together, and were put to death in the days of harvest, in the first days, in the beginning of barley harvest.

και παρεδωκεν αυτους εις τας χειρας των Γαβαωνιτων, και εκρεμασαν αυτους εις τον λοφον ενωπιον του Κυριου και επεσον ομου και οι επτα και εθανατωθησαν εν ταις ημεραις του θερισμου, εν ταις πρωταις, κατα την αρχην του θερισμου των κριθων.

And Rizpah the daughter of Aiah took sackcloth, and spread it for her upon the rock, from the beginning of harvest until water dropped upon them out of heaven, and suffered neither the birds of the air to rest on them by day, nor the beasts of the field by night.

Η δε Ρεσφα, η θυγατηρ του Αια, ελαβε σακκον και εστρωσεν αυτον εις εαυτην επι τον βραχον, απο της αρχης του θερισμου εωσου εσταξεν επ αυτων υδωρ εκ του ουρανου, και δεν αφινεν ουτε τα πετεινα του ουρανου να καθισωσιν επ αυτων την ημεραν ουτε τα θηρια του αγρου την νυκτα.

And it was told David what Rizpah the daughter of Aiah, the concubine of Saul, had done.

Και ανηγγελθη προς τον Δαβιδ τι εκαμεν η Ρεσφα, η θυγατηρ του Αια, παλλακη του Σαουλ.

And David went and took the bones of Saul and the bones of Jonathan his son from the men of Jabesh–gilead, which had stolen them from the street of Beth–shan, where the Philistines had hanged them, when the Philistines had slain Saul in Gilboa:

Και υπηγεν ο Δαβιδ και ελαβε τα οστα του Σαουλ και τα οστα του Ιωναθαν του υιου αυτου, παρα των ανδρων της Ιαβεις−γαλααδ, οιτινες ειχον κλεψει αυτα εκ της πλατειας Βαιθ−σαν, οπου οι Φιλισταιοι εκρεμασαν αυτους, καθ ην ημεραν οι Φιλισταιοι εθανατωσαν τον Σαουλ εν Γελβουε

And he brought up from thence the bones of Saul and the bones of Jonathan his son; and they gathered the bones of them that were hanged.

και ανεβιβασεν εκειθεν τα οστα του Σαουλ και τα οστα Ιωναθαν του υιου αυτου και εσυναξαν τα οστα των κρεμασθεντων.

And the bones of Saul and Jonathan his son buried they in the country of Benjamin in Zelah, in the sepulchre of Kish his father: and they performed all that the king commanded. And after that God was intreated for the land.

Και εθαψαν τα οστα του Σαουλ και Ιωναθαν του υιου αυτου εν γη Βενιαμιν εν Σηλα, εν τω ταφω του Κεις, του πατρος αυτου και εκαμον παντα οσα προσεταξεν ο βασιλευς. Και μετα ταυτα εξιλεωθη ο Θεος προς την γην.

Moreover the Philistines had yet war again with Israel; and David went down, and his servants with him, and fought against the Philistines: and David waxed faint.

Εγεινε δε παλιν πολεμος των Φιλισταιων μετα του Ισραηλ και κατεβη ο Δαβιδ και οι δουλοι αυτου μετ αυτου και επολεμησαν εναντιον των Φιλισταιων, και απεκαμεν ο Δαβιδ.

And Ishbi–benob, which was of the sons of the giant, the weight of whose spear weighed three hundred shekels of brass in weight, he being girded with a new sword, thought to have slain David.

Ο δε Ισβι−βενωβ, ο εκ των τεκνων του Ραφα, του οποιου της λογχης το βαρος ητο τριακοσιοι σικλοι χαλκου, οστις ητο περιεζωσμενος �ομφαιαν νεαν, εσκοπευε να θανατωση τον Δαβιδ.

But Abishai the son of Zeruiah succoured him, and smote the Philistine, and killed him. Then the men of David sware unto him, saying, Thou shalt go no more out with us to battle, that thou quench not the light of Israel.

Εβοηθησεν ομως αυτον Αβισαι, ο υιος της Σερουιας, και επαταξε τον Φιλισταιον και εθανατωσεν αυτον. Τοτε οι ανδρες του Δαβιδ ωμοσαν προς αυτον, λεγοντες, Δεν θελεις εξελθει πλεον μεθ ημων εις πολεμον, δια να μη σβεσης τον λυχνον του Ισραηλ.

And it came to pass after this, that there was again a battle with the Philistines at Gob: then Sibbechai the Hushathite slew Saph, which was of the sons of the giant.

Μετα δε ταυτα εγεινε παλιν πολεμος μετα των Φιλισταιων εν Γωβ, εν τω οποιω Σιββεχαι ο Χουσαθιτης εθανατωσε τον Σαφ, οστις ητο εκ των τεκνων του Ραφα

And there was again a battle in Gob with the Philistines, where Elhanan the son of Jaare–oregim, a Beth–lehemite, slew the brother of Goliath the Gittite, the staff of whose spear was like a weaver's beam.

Και παλιν εγεινε πολεμος εν Γωβ μετα των Φιλισταιων, και ο Ελχαναν ο υιος του Ιαρε−ορεγειμ, Βηθλεεμιτης, εθανατωσε τον αδελφον του Γολιαθ του Γετθαιου, και το ξυλον της λογχης αυτου ητο ως αντιον υφαντου.

And there was yet a battle in Gath, where was a man of great stature, that had on every hand six fingers, and on every foot six toes, four and twenty in number; and he also was born to the giant.

Εγεινεν ετι πολεμος εν Γαθ, και ητο ανηρ υπερμεγεθης, και οι δακτυλοι των χειρων αυτου και οι δακτυλοι των ποδων αυτου ησαν εξ και εξ, εικοσιτεσσαρες τον αριθμον και ουτος ετι ητο εκ της γενεας του Ραφα.

And when he defied Israel, Jonathan the son of Shimea the brother of David slew him.

Και ωνειδισε τον Ισραηλ και Ιωναθαν ο υιος του Σαμαα, αδελφου του Δαβιδ, επαταξεν αυτον.

These four were born to the giant in Gath, and fell by the hand of David, and by the hand of his servants.

Οι τεσσαρες ουτοι εγεννηθησαν εις τον Ραφα εν Γαθ, και επεσον δια χειρος του Δαβιδ και δια χειρος των δουλων αυτου.
