Matthew 15

Then came to Jesus scribes and Pharisees, which were of Jerusalem, saying,

Why do thy disciples transgress the tradition of the elders? for they wash not their hands when they eat bread.

Bu sırada Yeruşalim’den bazı Ferisiler ve din bilginleri İsa’ya gelip, “Öğrencilerin neden atalarımızın töresini çiğniyor?” diye sordular, “Yemekten önce ellerini yıkamıyorlar.”

But he answered and said unto them, Why do ye also transgress the commandment of God by your tradition?

İsa onlara şu karşılığı verdi: “Ya siz, neden töreniz uğruna Tanrı buyruğunu çiğniyorsunuz?

For God commanded, saying, Honour thy father and mother: and, He that curseth father or mother, let him die the death.

[] Çünkü Tanrı şöyle buyurdu: ‘Annene babana saygı göstereceksin’; ‘Annesine ya da babasına söven kesinlikle öldürülecektir.’

But ye say, Whosoever shall say to his father or his mother, It is a gift, by whatsoever thou mightest be profited by me;

Ama siz, ‘Her kim anne ya da babasına, benden alacağın bütün yardım Tanrı’ya adanmıştır derse, artık babasına saygı göstermek zorunda değildir’ diyorsunuz. Böylelikle, töreniz uğruna Tanrı’nın sözünü geçersiz kılmış oluyorsunuz.

And honour not his father or his mother, he shall be free. Thus have ye made the commandment of God of none effect by your tradition.

Ama siz, ‘Her kim anne ya da babasına, benden alacağın bütün yardım Tanrı’ya adanmıştır derse, artık babasına saygı göstermek zorunda değildir’ diyorsunuz. Böylelikle, töreniz uğruna Tanrı’nın sözünü geçersiz kılmış oluyorsunuz.

Ye hypocrites, well did Esaias prophesy of you, saying,

[] Ey ikiyüzlüler! Yeşaya’nın sizinle ilgili şu peygamberlik sözü ne kadar yerindedir: ‘Bu halk dudaklarıyla beni sayar, Ama yürekleri benden uzak.

This people draweth nigh unto me with their mouth, and honoureth me with their lips; but their heart is far from me.

[] Ey ikiyüzlüler! Yeşaya’nın sizinle ilgili şu peygamberlik sözü ne kadar yerindedir: ‘Bu halk dudaklarıyla beni sayar, Ama yürekleri benden uzak.

But in vain they do worship me, teaching for doctrines the commandments of men.

Bana boşuna taparlar. Çünkü öğrettikleri, sadece insan buyruklarıdır.’ ”

And he called the multitude, and said unto them, Hear, and understand:

İsa, halkı yanına çağırıp onlara, “Dinleyin ve şunu belleyin” dedi.

Not that which goeth into the mouth defileth a man; but that which cometh out of the mouth, this defileth a man.

“Ağızdan giren şey insanı kirletmez. İnsanı kirleten ağızdan çıkandır.”

Then came his disciples, and said unto him, Knowest thou that the Pharisees were offended, after they heard this saying?

Bu sırada öğrencileri O’na gelip, “Biliyor musun?” dediler, “Ferisiler bu sözü duyunca gücendiler.”

But he answered and said, Every plant, which my heavenly Father hath not planted, shall be rooted up.

İsa şu karşılığı verdi: “Göksel Babam’ın dikmediği her fidan kökünden sökülecektir.

Let them alone: they be blind leaders of the blind. And if the blind lead the blind, both shall fall into the ditch.

[] Bırakın onları; onlar körlerin kör kılavuzlarıdır. Eğer kör köre kılavuzluk ederse, ikisi de çukura düşer.”

Then answered Peter and said unto him, Declare unto us this parable.

Petrus, “Bu benzetmeyi bize açıkla” dedi.

And Jesus said, Are ye also yet without understanding?

“Siz de mi hâlâ anlamıyorsunuz?” diye sordu İsa.

Do not ye yet understand, that whatsoever entereth in at the mouth goeth into the belly, and is cast out into the draught?

“Ağza giren her şeyin mideye indiğini, oradan da helaya atıldığını bilmiyor musunuz?

But those things which proceed out of the mouth come forth from the heart; and they defile the man.

[] Ne var ki ağızdan çıkan, yürekten kaynaklanır. İnsanı kirleten de budur.

For out of the heart proceed evil thoughts, murders, adulteries, fornications, thefts, false witness, blasphemies:

Çünkü kötü düşünceler, cinayet, zina, fuhuş, hırsızlık, yalan yere tanıklık ve iftira hep yürekten kaynaklanır.

These are the things which defile a man: but to eat with unwashen hands defileth not a man.

İnsanı kirleten bunlardır. Yıkanmamış ellerle yemek yemek insanı kirletmez.”

Then Jesus went thence, and departed into the coasts of Tyre and Sidon.

İsa oradan ayrılıp Sur ve Sayda bölgesine geçti.

And, behold, a woman of Canaan came out of the same coasts, and cried unto him, saying, Have mercy on me, O Lord, thou Son of David; my daughter is grievously vexed with a devil.

O yöreden Kenanlı bir kadın İsa’ya gelip, “Ya Rab, ey Davut Oğlu, halime acı! Kızım cine tutuldu, çok kötü durumda” diye feryat etti.

But he answered her not a word. And his disciples came and besought him, saying, Send her away; for she crieth after us.

İsa kadına hiçbir karşılık vermedi. Öğrencileri yaklaşıp, “Sal şunu, gitsin!” diye rica ettiler. “Arkamızdan bağırıp duruyor.”

But he answered and said, I am not sent but unto the lost sheep of the house of Israel.

İsa, “Ben yalnız İsrail halkının kaybolmuş koyunlarına gönderildim” diye yanıtladı.

Then came she and worshipped him, saying, Lord, help me.

Kadın ise yaklaşıp, “Ya Rab, bana yardım et!” diyerek O’nun önünde yere kapandı.

But he answered and said, It is not meet to take the children's bread, and to cast it to dogs.

İsa ona, “Çocukların ekmeğini alıp köpeklere atmak doğru değildir” dedi.

And she said, Truth, Lord: yet the dogs eat of the crumbs which fall from their masters' table.

Kadın, “Haklısın, ya Rab” dedi. “Ama köpekler de efendilerinin sofrasından düşen kırıntıları yer.”

Then Jesus answered and said unto her, O woman, great is thy faith: be it unto thee even as thou wilt. And her daughter was made whole from that very hour.

O zaman İsa ona şu karşılığı verdi: “Ey kadın, imanın büyük! Dilediğin gibi olsun.” Ve kadının kızı o saatte iyileşti.

And Jesus departed from thence, and came nigh unto the sea of Galilee; and went up into a mountain, and sat down there.

İsa oradan ayrıldı, Celile Gölü’nün kıyısından geçerek dağa çıkıp oturdu.

And great multitudes came unto him, having with them those that were lame, blind, dumb, maimed, and many others, and cast them down at Jesus' feet; and he healed them:

Yanına büyük bir kalabalık geldi. Beraberlerinde kötürüm, kör, çolak, dilsiz ve daha birçok hasta getirdiler. Hastaları O’nun ayaklarının dibine bıraktılar. O da onları iyileştirdi.

Insomuch that the multitude wondered, when they saw the dumb to speak, the maimed to be whole, the lame to walk, and the blind to see: and they glorified the God of Israel.

Halk, dilsizlerin konuştuğunu, çolakların iyileştiğini, körlerin gördüğünü, kötürümlerin yürüdüğünü görünce şaştı ve İsrail’in Tanrısı’nı yüceltti.

Then Jesus called his disciples unto him, and said, I have compassion on the multitude, because they continue with me now three days, and have nothing to eat: and I will not send them away fasting, lest they faint in the way.

İsa öğrencilerini yanına çağırıp, “Halka acıyorum” dedi. “Üç gündür yanımdalar, yiyecek hiçbir şeyleri yok. Onları aç aç evlerine göndermek istemiyorum, yolda bayılabilirler.”

And his disciples say unto him, Whence should we have so much bread in the wilderness, as to fill so great a multitude?

Öğrenciler kendisine, “Böyle ıssız bir yerde bu kadar kalabalığı doyuracak ekmeği nereden bulalım?” dediler.

And Jesus saith unto them, How many loaves have ye? And they said, Seven, and a few little fishes.

İsa, “Kaç ekmeğiniz var?” diye sordu. “Yedi ekmekle birkaç küçük balığımız var” dediler.

And he commanded the multitude to sit down on the ground.

Bunun üzerine İsa, halka yere oturmalarını buyurdu.

And he took the seven loaves and the fishes, and gave thanks, and brake them, and gave to his disciples, and the disciples to the multitude.

Yedi ekmekle balıkları aldı, şükredip bunları böldü, öğrencilerine verdi. Onlar da halka dağıttılar.

And they did all eat, and were filled: and they took up of the broken meat that was left seven baskets full.

Herkes yiyip doydu. Artakalan parçalardan yedi küfe dolusu topladılar.

And they that did eat were four thousand men, beside women and children.

Yemek yiyenlerin sayısı, kadın ve çocuklar hariç, dört bin erkekti.

And he sent away the multitude, and took ship, and came into the coasts of Magdala.

İsa, halkı evlerine gönderdikten sonra tekneye binip Magadan bölgesine geçti.
