Galatians 4

Now I say, That the heir, as long as he is a child, differeth nothing from a servant, though he be lord of all;

Şunu demek istiyorum: Mirasçı her şeyin sahibiyse de, çocuk olduğu sürece köleden farksızdır.

But is under tutors and governors until the time appointed of the father.

Babasının belirlediği zamana dek vasilerin, vekillerin gözetimi altındadır.

Even so we, when we were children, were in bondage under the elements of the world:

Bunun gibi, biz de ruhsal yönden çocukken, dünyanın temel ilkelerine bağlı yaşayan kölelerdik.

But when the fulness of the time was come, God sent forth his Son, made of a woman, made under the law,

[] Ama zaman dolunca Tanrı, Yasa altında olanları özgürlüğe kavuşturmak için kadından doğan, Yasa altında doğan öz Oğlu’nu gönderdi. Öyle ki, bizler oğulluk hakkını alalım.

To redeem them that were under the law, that we might receive the adoption of sons.

[] Ama zaman dolunca Tanrı, Yasa altında olanları özgürlüğe kavuşturmak için kadından doğan, Yasa altında doğan öz Oğlu’nu gönderdi. Öyle ki, bizler oğulluk hakkını alalım.

And because ye are sons, God hath sent forth the Spirit of his Son into your hearts, crying, Abba, Father.

Oğullar olduğunuz için Tanrı öz Oğlu’nun “Abba! Baba!” diye seslenen Ruhu’nu yüreklerinize gönderdi.

Wherefore thou art no more a servant, but a son; and if a son, then an heir of God through Christ.

Bu nedenle artık köle değil, oğullarsınız. Oğullar olduğunuz için de Tanrı sizi aynı zamanda mirasçı yaptı.

Howbeit then, when ye knew not God, ye did service unto them which by nature are no gods.

Ne var ki, eskiden Tanrı’yı tanımadığınız zamanlarda, gerçek olmayan tanrılara kölelik ettiniz.

But now, after that ye have known God, or rather are known of God, how turn ye again to the weak and beggarly elements, whereunto ye desire again to be in bondage?

Şimdiyse Tanrı’yı tanıdınız, daha doğrusu Tanrı tarafından tanındınız. Öyleyse nasıl oluyor da bu değersiz, etkisiz ilkelere dönüyorsunuz? Yeniden onların kölesi mi olmak istiyorsunuz?

Ye observe days, and months, and times, and years.

Özel günler, aylar, mevsimler, yıllar kutluyorsunuz!

I am afraid of you, lest I have bestowed upon you labour in vain.

Sizin için korkuyorum. Yoksa uğrunuza boş yere mi emek verdim?

Brethren, I beseech you, be as I am; for I am as ye are: ye have not injured me at all.

Kardeşler, size yalvarıyorum, benim gibi olun. Çünkü ben de sizin gibi oldum. Bana hiç haksızlık etmediniz.

Ye know how through infirmity of the flesh I preached the gospel unto you at the first.

Bildiğiniz gibi, Müjde’yi size ilk kez bedensel hastalığım nedeniyle bildirmiştim.

And my temptation which was in my flesh ye despised not, nor rejected; but received me as an angel of God, even as Christ Jesus.

Bedensel durumum sizin için çetin bir deneme olduğu halde beni ne hor gördünüz ne de reddettiniz. Tanrı’nın bir meleğini, hatta Mesih İsa’yı kabul eder gibi kabul ettiniz beni.

Where is then the blessedness ye spake of? for I bear you record, that, if it had been possible, ye would have plucked out your own eyes, and have given them to me.

Şimdi o sevincinize ne oldu? Sizin için tanıklık ederim ki, elinizden gelse gözlerinizi oyar bana verirdiniz.

Am I therefore become your enemy, because I tell you the truth?

Peki, size gerçeği söylediğim için düşmanınız mı oldum?

They zealously affect you, but not well; yea, they would exclude you, that ye might affect them.

Başkaları sizi kazanmaya gayret ediyor, ama niyetleri iyi değil. Kendileri için gayret edesiniz diye sizi bizden ayırmak istiyorlar.

But it is good to be zealously affected always in a good thing, and not only when I am present with you.

Niyet iyiyse, yalnız aranızda olduğum zaman değil, her zaman gayretli olmak iyidir.

My little children, of whom I travail in birth again until Christ be formed in you,

Çocuklarım! Mesih sizde biçimleninceye dek sizin için yine doğum ağrısı çekiyorum.

I desire to be present with you now, and to change my voice; for I stand in doubt of you.

Şimdi yanınızda bulunmayı ve sesimin tonunu değiştirmeyi isterdim. Bu halinize şaşıyorum!

Tell me, ye that desire to be under the law, do ye not hear the law?

Kutsal Yasa altında yaşamak isteyen sizler, söyleyin bana, Yasa’nın ne dediğini bilmiyor musunuz?

For it is written, that Abraham had two sons, the one by a bondmaid, the other by a freewoman.

[] İbrahim’in biri köle, biri de özgür kadından iki oğlu olduğu yazılıdır.

But he who was of the bondwoman was born after the flesh; but he of the freewoman was by promise.

Köle kadından olan olağan yoldan, özgür kadından olansa vaat sonucu doğdu.

Which things are an allegory: for these are the two covenants; the one from the mount Sinai, which gendereth to bondage, which is Agar.

Burada bir benzetme vardır. Bu kadınlar iki antlaşmayı simgelemektedir. Biri Sina Dağı’ndandır, köle olacak çocuklar doğurur. Bu Hacer’dir.

For this Agar is mount Sinai in Arabia, and answereth to Jerusalem which now is, and is in bondage with her children.

Hacer, Arabistan’daki Sina Dağı’nı simgeler. Şimdiki Yeruşalim’in karşılığıdır. Çünkü çocuklarıyla birlikte kölelik etmektedir.

But Jerusalem which is above is free, which is the mother of us all.

Oysa göksel Yeruşalim özgürdür, annemiz odur.

For it is written, Rejoice, thou barren that bearest not; break forth and cry, thou that travailest not: for the desolate hath many more children than she which hath an husband.

[] Nitekim şöyle yazılmıştır: “Sevin, çocuk doğurmayan ey kısır kadın! Doğum ağrısı nedir bilmeyen sen, Yükselt sesini, haykır! Çünkü terk edilmiş kadının, Kocası olandan daha çok çocuğu var.”

Now we, brethren, as Isaac was, are the children of promise.

Kardeşler, İshak gibi sizler de vaat çocuklarısınız.

But as then he that was born after the flesh persecuted him that was born after the Spirit, even so it is now.

[] Olağan yoldan doğan, Kutsal Ruh’a göre doğana o zaman nasıl zulmettiyse, şimdi de öyle oluyor.

Nevertheless what saith the scripture? Cast out the bondwoman and her son: for the son of the bondwoman shall not be heir with the son of the freewoman.

[] Ama Kutsal Yazı ne diyor? “Köle kadınla oğlunu kov. Çünkü köle kadının oğlu Özgür kadının oğluyla birlikte Asla mirasa ortak olmayacaktır.”

So then, brethren, we are not children of the bondwoman, but of the free.

İşte böyle, kardeşler, bizler köle kadının değil, özgür kadının çocuklarıyız.
