Psalms 48

Great is the LORD, and greatly to be praised in the city of our God, in the mountain of his holiness.

En sång, en psalm av Koras söner.

Beautiful for situation, the joy of the whole earth, is mount Zion, on the sides of the north, the city of the great King.

 Stor är HERREN      och högt lovad,  i vår Guds stad,      på sitt heliga berg.

God is known in her palaces for a refuge.

 Skönt höjer det sig,      hela jordens fröjd,  berget Sion      längst uppe i norr,  den store konungens stad.

For, lo, the kings were assembled, they passed by together.

 Gud har i dess palatser      gjort sig känd såsom ett värn.

They saw it, and so they marvelled; they were troubled, and hasted away.

 Ty se, konungarna församlade sig,      tillhopa drogo de fram.

Fear took hold upon them there, and pain, as of a woman in travail.

 De sågo det, då häpnade de;      de förskräcktes, de flydde.

Thou breakest the ships of Tarshish with an east wind.

 Bävan grep dem där,      ångest lik en barnaföderskas.

As we have heard, so have we seen in the city of the LORD of hosts, in the city of our God: God will establish it for ever. Selah.

 Så krossar du Tarsis-skepp      med östanvinden.

We have thought of thy lovingkindness, O God, in the midst of thy temple.

 Såsom vi hade hört,      så fingo vi se det,  i HERREN Sebaots stad,      i vår Guds stad;  Gud håller den vid makt      till evig tid.  Sela.

According to thy name, O God, so is thy praise unto the ends of the earth: thy right hand is full of righteousness.

 Vi tänka, o Gud, på din nåd,      när vi stå i ditt tempel.

Let mount Zion rejoice, let the daughters of Judah be glad, because of thy judgments.

 Såsom ditt namn, o Gud,  så når ock ditt lov      intill jordens ändar;  din högra hand      är full av rättfärdighet.

Walk about Zion, and go round about her: tell the towers thereof.

 Sions berg glädje sig,  Juda döttrar fröjde sig,      för dina domars skull.

Mark ye well her bulwarks, consider her palaces; that ye may tell it to the generation following.

 Gån omkring Sion  och vandren runt därom,      räknen dess torn;

For this God is our God for ever and ever: he will be our guide even unto death.

 given akt på dess murar,      skriden genom dess palatser,  så att I kunnen förtälja därom      för ett kommande släkte. [ (Psalms 48:15)  Ty sådan är Gud, vår Gud,      alltid och evinnerligen;  intill döden skall han      ledsaga oss. ]
