Psalms 106

Praise ye the LORD. O give thanks unto the LORD; for he is good: for his mercy endureth for ever.

 Halleluja!  Tacken HERREN, ty han är god,  ty hans nåd varar evinnerligen.

Who can utter the mighty acts of the LORD? who can shew forth all his praise?

 Vem kan uttala HERRENS väldiga gärningar  och förkunna allt hans lov?

Blessed are they that keep judgment, and he that doeth righteousness at all times.

 Saliga äro de som akta på vad rätt är,  de som alltid öva rättfärdighet.

Remember me, O LORD, with the favour that thou bearest unto thy people: O visit me with thy salvation;

 Tänk på mig, HERRE, efter din nåd mot ditt folk,  besök mig med din frälsning,

That I may see the good of thy chosen, that I may rejoice in the gladness of thy nation, that I may glory with thine inheritance.

 så att jag med lust får se dina utvaldas lycka,  glädja mig med ditt folks glädje,  berömma mig med din arvedel.

We have sinned with our fathers, we have committed iniquity, we have done wickedly.

 Vi hava syndat likasom våra fäder,  vi hava gjort illa, vi hava varit ogudaktiga.

Our fathers understood not thy wonders in Egypt; they remembered not the multitude of thy mercies; but provoked him at the sea, even at the Red sea.

 Våra fäder i Egypten aktade icke på dina under;  de tänkte icke på dina många nådegärningar,  utan voro gensträviga vid havet, invid Röda havet.

Nevertheless he saved them for his name's sake, that he might make his mighty power to be known.

 Men han frälste dem för sitt namns skull,  för att göra sin makt kunnig.

He rebuked the Red sea also, and it was dried up: so he led them through the depths, as through the wilderness.

 Han näpste Röda havet, så att det blev torrt,  och förde dem genom djupen såsom genom en öken.

And he saved them from the hand of him that hated them, and redeemed them from the hand of the enemy.

 Han frälste dem från deras motståndares hand  och förlossade dem ifrån fiendens hand.

And the waters covered their enemies: there was not one of them left.

 Vattnet övertäckte deras ovänner;  icke en enda av dem blev kvar.

Then believed they his words; they sang his praise.

 Då trodde de på hans ord,  då sjöngo de hans lov.

They soon forgat his works; they waited not for his counsel:

 Men snart glömde de hans gärningar,  de förbidade icke hans råd.

But lusted exceedingly in the wilderness, and tempted God in the desert.

 De grepos av lystnad i öknen  och frestade Gud i ödemarken.

And he gave them their request; but sent leanness into their soul.

 Då gav han dem vad de begärde,  men sände tärande sjukdom över dem.

They envied Moses also in the camp, and Aaron the saint of the LORD.

 Och de upptändes av avund mot Mose i lägret,  mot Aron, HERRENS helige.

The earth opened and swallowed up Dathan, and covered the company of Abiram.

 Men jorden öppnade sig och uppslukade Datan  och övertäckte Abirams hop.

And a fire was kindled in their company; the flame burned up the wicked.

 Och eld begynte brinna i deras hop,  en låga brände upp de ogudaktiga.

They made a calf in Horeb, and worshipped the molten image.

 De gjorde en kalv vid Horeb  och tillbådo ett gjutet beläte;

Thus they changed their glory into the similitude of an ox that eateth grass.

 sin ära bytte de bort  mot bilden av en oxe, som äter gräs.

They forgat God their saviour, which had done great things in Egypt;

 De glömde Gud, sin frälsare,  som hade gjort så stora ting i Egypten,

Wondrous works in the land of Ham, and terrible things by the Red sea.

 så underbara verk i Hams land,  så fruktansvärda gärningar vid Röda havet.

Therefore he said that he would destroy them, had not Moses his chosen stood before him in the breach, to turn away his wrath, lest he should destroy them.

 Då hotade han att förgöra dem;  men Mose, den man som han hade utvalt,  trädde fram såsom medlare inför honom  till att avvända hans vrede, så att den icke skulle fördärva.

Yea, they despised the pleasant land, they believed not his word:

 De föraktade det ljuvliga landet  och trodde icke på hans ord.

But murmured in their tents, and hearkened not unto the voice of the LORD.

 De knorrade i sina tält  och lyssnade icke till HERRENS röst.

Therefore he lifted up his hand against them, to overthrow them in the wilderness:

 Då lyfte han upp sin hand mot dem  och svor att slå ned dem i öknen,

To overthrow their seed also among the nations, and to scatter them in the lands.

 att slå ned deras barn ibland hedningarna  och förströ dem i länderna.

They joined themselves also unto Baal–peor, and ate the sacrifices of the dead.

 Och de slöto sig till Baal-Peor  och åto det som var offrat åt döda.

Thus they provoked him to anger with their inventions: and the plague brake in upon them.

 De förtörnade Gud med sina gärningar,  och en hemsökelse bröt in över dem.

Then stood up Phinehas, and executed judgment: and so the plague was stayed.

 Men Pinehas trädde fram och skipade rätt,  och så upphörde hemsökelsen;

And that was counted unto him for righteousness unto all generations for evermore.

 det vart honom räknat till rättfärdighet  från släkte till släkte, för evig tid.

They angered him also at the waters of strife, so that it went ill with Moses for their sakes:

 De förtörnade honom ock vid Meribas vatten,  och det gick Mose illa för deras skull.

Because they provoked his spirit, so that he spake unadvisedly with his lips.

 Ty de voro gensträviga mot hans Ande,  och han talade obetänksamt med sina läppar.

They did not destroy the nations, concerning whom the LORD commanded them:

 De förgjorde icke de folk  om vilka HERREN hade givit dem befallning,

But were mingled among the heathen, and learned their works.

 utan beblandade sig med hedningarna  och lärde sig deras gärningar.

And they served their idols: which were a snare unto them.

 De tjänade deras avgudar,  och dessa blevo dem till en snara.

Yea, they sacrificed their sons and their daughters unto devils,

 Och de offrade sina söner och döttrar  till offer åt onda andar.

And shed innocent blood, even the blood of their sons and of their daughters, whom they sacrificed unto the idols of Canaan: and the land was polluted with blood.

 Ja, de utgöto oskyldigt blod,  sina söners och döttrars blod  och offrade dessa åt Kanaans avgudar;  och landet vart ohelgat genom blodskulder.

Thus were they defiled with their own works, and went a whoring with their own inventions.

 Så blevo de orena genom sina gärningar  och betedde sig trolöst i sina verk.

Therefore was the wrath of the LORD kindled against his people, insomuch that he abhorred his own inheritance.

 Då upptändes HERRENS vrede mot hans folk,  och hans arvedel blev honom en styggelse.

And he gave them into the hand of the heathen; and they that hated them ruled over them.

 Och han gav dem i hedningars hand,  så att de som hatade dem fingo råda över dem.

Their enemies also oppressed them, and they were brought into subjection under their hand.

 Deras fiender trängde dem,  och de blevo kuvade under deras hand.

Many times did he deliver them; but they provoked him with their counsel, and were brought low for their iniquity.

 Många gånger räddade han dem,  men de voro gensträviga i sin egenvilja  och förgingos så genom sin missgärning.

Nevertheless he regarded their affliction, when he heard their cry:

 Men han såg till dem i deras nöd,  när han hörde deras rop.

And he remembered for them his covenant, and repented according to the multitude of his mercies.

 Och han tänkte, dem till fromma, på sitt förbund  och ömkade sig efter sin stora nåd.

He made them also to be pitied of all those that carried them captives.

 Och han lät dem finna barmhärtighet  inför alla dem som hade fört dem i fångenskap.

Save us, O LORD our God, and gather us from among the heathen, to give thanks unto thy holy name, and to triumph in thy praise.

 Fräls oss, HERRE, vår Gud,  och församla oss från hedningarna,  så att vi få prisa ditt heliga namn  och berömma oss av ditt lov.               ----

Blessed be the LORD God of Israel from everlasting to everlasting: and let all the people say, Amen. Praise ye the LORD.

Lovad vare HERREN, Israels Gud, från evighet till evighet! Och allt folket säge: »Amen, Halleluja!»            Israels förlossades tacksamhet mot                         HERREN.
