Ezekiel 15

And the word of the LORD came unto me, saying,

Och HERRENS ord kom till mig; han sade:Ps. 80,9 f. Hes. 17,6 f. 19,10 f.

Son of man, What is the vine tree more than any tree, or than a branch which is among the trees of the forest?

Du människobarn, varutinnan är vinstockens trä förmer än annat trä, vinstockens, vars rankor växa upp bland skogens andra träd?

Shall wood be taken thereof to do any work? or will men take a pin of it to hang any vessel thereon?

Tager man väl virke därav till att förfärdiga något nyttigt? Gör man ens därav en plugg för att på den hänga upp någonting?

Behold, it is cast into the fire for fuel; the fire devoureth both the ends of it, and the midst of it is burned. Is it meet for any work?

Och om det nu därtill har varit livet till mat åt elden, så att dess båda ändar hava blivit förtärda av eld, och vad däremellan finnes är svett, duger det då till något nyttigt?

Behold, when it was whole, it was meet for no work: how much less shall it be meet yet for any work, when the fire hath devoured it, and it is burned?

Icke ens medan det ännu var oskadat, kunde man förfärdiga något nyttigt därav; huru mycket mindre kan man förfärdiga något nyttigt därav, sedan det endels har blivit förtärt av elden och endels är svett!

Therefore thus saith the Lord GOD; As the vine tree among the trees of the forest, which I have given to the fire for fuel, so will I give the inhabitants of Jerusalem.

Därför säger Herren, HERREN så: Såsom det händer med vinstockens trä bland annat trä från skogen, att Jag lämnar det till mat åt elden, så skall jag ock göra med Jerusalems invånare.

And I will set my face against them; they shall go out from one fire, and another fire shall devour them; and ye shall know that I am the LORD, when I set my face against them.

Jag skall vända mitt ansikte mot dem; ur elden hava de kommit undan, men eld skall dock förtära dem. Och I skolen förnimma att jag är HERREN, när jag vänder mitt ansikte mot dem.Hes. 14,8.

And I will make the land desolate, because they have committed a trespass, saith the Lord GOD.

Och jag skall göra landet till en ödemark, därför att de hava varit otrogna, säger Herren, HERREN.
