Job 15

Then answered Eliphaz the Temanite, and said,

Should a wise man utter vain knowledge, and fill his belly with the east wind?

Izali mądry ma na wiatr mówić? albo napełniać wschodnim wiatrem myśl swoję?

Should he reason with unprofitable talk? or with speeches wherewith he can do no good?

Przytaczając słowa niepożyteczne, i mowy, z których nie masz pożytku?

Yea, thou castest off fear, and restrainest prayer before God.

Zaiste ty psujesz bojaźń Bożą i znosisz modlitwy do Boga.

For thy mouth uttereth thine iniquity, and thou choosest the tongue of the crafty.

Albowiem pokazują nieprawość twą usta twoje, chociażeś sobie obrał język chytrych,

Thine own mouth condemneth thee, and not I: yea, thine own lips testify against thee.

Potępiają cię usta twoje, a nie ja; a wargi twoje świadczą przeciwko tobie.

Art thou the first man that was born? or wast thou made before the hills?

Czyś się najpierwszym człowiekiem urodził? czyś przed pagórkami utworzony?

Hast thou heard the secret of God? and dost thou restrain wisdom to thyself?

Izażeś tajemnic Bożych słuchał, a nie masz mądrości jedno w tobie?

What knowest thou, that we know not? what understandest thou, which is not in us?

Cóż ty umiesz, czego my nie wiemy? albo cóż ty rozumiesz, czegobyśmy my nie rozumieli?

With us are both the grayheaded and very aged men, much elder than thy father.

I sędziwyć i starzec między nami jest starszy w latach niż ojciec twój.

Are the consolations of God small with thee? is there any secret thing with thee?

I lekceż sobie ważysz pociechy Boskie? i maszże jeszcze co tak skrytego w sobie?

Why doth thine heart carry thee away? and what do thy eyes wink at,

Czemuż cię tak uniosło serce twoje? Czemu mrugają oczy twoje?

That thou turnest thy spirit against God, and lettest such words go out of thy mouth?

Że tak odpowiada Bogu duch twój, a wypuszczasz z ust twoich takowe mowy?

What is man, that he should be clean? and he which is born of a woman, that he should be righteous?

Cóż jest człowiek, aby miał być czystym, albo żeby miał być sprawiedliwym, urodzony z niewiasty?

Behold, he putteth no trust in his saints; yea, the heavens are not clean in his sight.

Oto i w świętych jego niemasz doskonałości, i niebiosa nie są czyste w oczach jego.

How much more abominable and filthy is man, which drinketh iniquity like water?

Daleko więcej obrzydły jest, i nieużyteczny człowiek, który pije nieprawość jako wodę.

I will shew thee, hear me; and that which I have seen I will declare;

Okażęć, tylko mię słuchaj; a com widział, oznajmięć,

Which wise men have told from their fathers, and have not hid it:

Co mędrzy powiedzieli, a nie zataili, co mieli od przodków swoich;

Unto whom alone the earth was given, and no stranger passed among them.

Którym samym dana była ziemia, a żaden obcy nie przeszedł przez nię.

The wicked man travaileth with pain all his days, and the number of years is hidden to the oppressor.

Po wszystkie dni swoje sam siebie niepobożny boleśnie trapi, a nie wiele lat zamierzono okrutnikowi.

A dreadful sound is in his ears: in prosperity the destroyer shall come upon him.

Głos straszliwy brzmi w uszach jego, że czasu pokoju pustoszący przypadnie nań.

He believeth not that he shall return out of darkness, and he is waited for of the sword.

Nie wierzy, żeby się miał nawrócić z ciemności, obawiając się zewsząd miecza.

He wandereth abroad for bread, saying, Where is it? he knoweth that the day of darkness is ready at his hand.

Tuła się za chlebem, szukając gdzieby był; wie, że zgotowany jest dla niego dzień ciemności.

Trouble and anguish shall make him afraid; they shall prevail against him, as a king ready to the battle.

Straszą go utrapienie i ucisk, i zmocnią się przeciwko niemu jako król gotowy do boju.

For he stretcheth out his hand against God, and strengtheneth himself against the Almighty.

Bo wyciągną przeciw Bogu rękę swą, a przeciwko Wszechmocnemu zmocnił się.

He runneth upon him, even on his neck, upon the thick bosses of his bucklers:

Natrze nań na szyję jego z gęstemi i wyniosłemi tarczami swemi.

Because he covereth his face with his fatness, and maketh collops of fat on his flanks.

Bo okrył twarz swą tłustością swoją, a fałdów mu się naczyniło na słabiźnie.

And he dwelleth in desolate cities, and in houses which no man inhabiteth, which are ready to become heaps.

I mieszka w miastach popustoszonych, i w domach, w których nie mieszkano, które się miały obrócić w kupę rumu.

He shall not be rich, neither shall his substance continue, neither shall he prolong the perfection thereof upon the earth.

Nie zbogaci się, i nie ostoi się majętność jego, ani się rozszerzy na ziemi doskonałość takowych.

He shall not depart out of darkness; the flame shall dry up his branches, and by the breath of his mouth shall he go away.

Nie wynijdzie z ciemności; świeżą jego latorośl ususzy płomień, a zginie od ducha ust jego.

Let not him that is deceived trust in vanity: for vanity shall be his recompence.

Nie wierzy, że w próżności jest, który błądzi; a że próżność będzie nagrodą jego.

It shall be accomplished before his time, and his branch shall not be green.

Przed wypełnieniem dni swoich wycięty będzie, a różdżka jego nie zakwitnie.

He shall shake off his unripe grape as the vine, and shall cast off his flower as the olive.

Jako winna macica utraci niedojrzałe grona swoje, a jako oliwa kwiat swój zrzuci.

For the congregation of hypocrites shall be desolate, and fire shall consume the tabernacles of bribery.

Albowiem zgromadzenie obłudnych spustoszone będzie, a ogień pożre przybytki pobudowane za dary.

They conceive mischief, and bring forth vanity, and their belly prepareth deceit.

Poczęli kłopot, a porodzili nieprawość; a żywot ich gotuje zdradę.
