Psalms 116

I love the LORD, because he hath heard my voice and my supplications.

Jeg elsker Herren, for han hører min røst, mine inderlige bønner.

Because he hath inclined his ear unto me, therefore will I call upon him as long as I live.

For han har bøiet sitt øre til mig, og alle mine dager vil jeg påkalle ham.

The sorrows of death compassed me, and the pains of hell gat hold upon me: I found trouble and sorrow.

Dødens rep hadde omspent mig, og dødsrikets angster hadde funnet mig; nød og sorg fant jeg.

Then called I upon the name of the LORD; O LORD, I beseech thee, deliver my soul.

Men jeg påkalte Herrens navn: Akk Herre, frels min sjel!

Gracious is the LORD, and righteous; yea, our God is merciful.

Herren er nådig og rettferdig, og vår Gud er barmhjertig.

The LORD preserveth the simple: I was brought low, and he helped me.

Herren verner de enfoldige; jeg var elendig, og han frelste mig.

Return unto thy rest, O my soul; for the LORD hath dealt bountifully with thee.

Kom igjen, min sjel, til din ro! For Herren har gjort vel imot dig.

For thou hast delivered my soul from death, mine eyes from tears, and my feet from falling.

For du fridde min sjel fra døden, mitt øie fra gråt, min fot fra fall.

I will walk before the LORD in the land of the living.

Jeg skal vandre for Herrens åsyn i de levendes land.

I believed, therefore have I spoken: I was greatly afflicted:

Jeg trodde, for jeg talte; jeg var såre plaget.

I said in my haste, All men are liars.

Jeg sa i min angst: Hvert menneske er en løgner.

What shall I render unto the LORD for all his benefits toward me?

Hvormed skal jeg gjengjelde Herren alle hans velgjerninger imot mig?

I will take the cup of salvation, and call upon the name of the LORD.

Jeg vil løfte frelsens beger og påkalle Herrens navn.

I will pay my vows unto the LORD now in the presence of all his people.

Jeg vil holde for Herren mine løfter, og det for hele hans folks øine.

Precious in the sight of the LORD is the death of his saints.

Kostelig i Herrens øine er hans frommes død.

O LORD, truly I am thy servant; I am thy servant, and the son of thine handmaid: thou hast loosed my bonds.

Akk Herre! Jeg er jo din tjener, jeg er din tjener, din tjenerinnes sønn; du har løst mine bånd.

I will offer to thee the sacrifice of thanksgiving, and will call upon the name of the LORD.

Dig vil jeg ofre takkoffer, og Herrens navn vil jeg påkalle.

I will pay my vows unto the LORD now in the presence of all his people,

Jeg vil holde for Herren mine løfter, og det for hele hans folks øine,

In the courts of the LORD'S house, in the midst of thee, O Jerusalem. Praise ye the LORD.

i forgårdene til Herrens hus, midt i dig, Jerusalem. Halleluja!
