I Kings 4

So king Solomon was king over all Israel.

Kong Salomo var konge over hele Israel.

And these were the princes which he had; Azariah the son of Zadok the priest,

Elihoreph and Ahiah, the sons of Shisha, scribes; Jehoshaphat the son of Ahilud, the recorder.

And Benaiah the son of Jehoiada was over the host: and Zadok and Abiathar were the priests:

And Azariah the son of Nathan was over the officers: and Zabud the son of Nathan was principal officer, and the king's friend:

Asarja, Natans sønn, var over fogdene; Sabud, Natans sønn, var prest, kongens venn;

And Ahishar was over the household: and Adoniram the son of Abda was over the tribute.

Akisar var slottshøvding; Adoniram, Abdas sønn, hadde opsyn med dem som gjorde pliktarbeid.

And Solomon had twelve officers over all Israel, which provided victuals for the king and his household: each man his month in a year made provision.

Salomo hadde satt tolv fogder over hele Israel; de forsynte kongen og hans hus med fødevarer; en måned om året hadde hver av dem å forsyne ham.

And these are their names: The son of Hur, in mount Ephraim:

Dette var deres navn: Hurs sønn på Efra'im-fjellet;

The son of Dekar, in Makaz, and in Shaalbim, and Beth–shemesh, and Elon–beth–hanan:

Dekers sønn i Makas og Sa'albim og Bet-Semes og Elon-Bet-Hanan;

The son of Hesed, in Aruboth; to him pertained Sochoh, and all the land of Hepher:

Heseds sønn i Arubbot; han hadde Soko og hele Hefer-bygden;

The son of Abinadab, in all the region of Dor; which had Taphath the daughter of Solomon to wife:

Abinadabs sønn hadde hele Dors høiland; han hadde Tafat, Salomos datter, til hustru;

Baana the son of Ahilud; to him pertained Taanach and Megiddo, and all Beth–shean, which is by Zartanah beneath Jezreel, from Beth–shean to Abel–meholah, even unto the place that is beyond Jokneam:

Ba'ana, Akiluds sønn, hadde Ta'anak og Megiddo og hele Bet-Sean, som ligger ved siden av Sartan nedenfor Jisre'el, fra Bet-Sean til Abel-Mehola og bortenfor Jokmeam;

The son of Geber, in Ramoth–gilead; to him pertained the towns of Jair the son of Manasseh, which are in Gilead; to him also pertained the region of Argob, which is in Bashan, threescore great cities with walls and brasen bars:

Gebers sønn i Ramot i Gilead; han hadde Ja'irs, Manasses sønns byer i Gilead; han hadde også Argob-bygden i Basan, seksti store byer med murer og kobberbommer;

Ahinadab the son of Iddo had Mahanaim:

Akinadab, Iddos sønn, hadde Mahana'im;

Ahimaaz was in Naphtali; he also took Basmath the daughter of Solomon to wife:

Akima'as i Naftali; også han hadde tatt en datter av Salomo til hustru; hun hette Basmat;

Baanah the son of Hushai was in Asher and in Aloth:

Ba'ana, sønn av Husai, i Aser og i Alot;

Jehoshaphat the son of Paruah, in Issachar:

Josafat, sønn av Paruah, Issakar;

Shimei the son of Elah, in Benjamin:

Sime'i, sønn av Ela, i Benjamin;

Geber the son of Uri was in the country of Gilead, in the country of Sihon king of the Amorites, and of Og king of Bashan; and he was the only officer which was in the land.

Geber, sønn av Uri, i Gileads land - det land som amoritterkongen Sihon og Basans konge Og hadde hatt - han var den eneste foged i de bygder.

Judah and Israel were many, as the sand which is by the sea in multitude, eating and drinking, and making merry.

And Solomon reigned over all kingdoms from the river unto the land of the Philistines, and unto the border of Egypt: they brought presents, and served Solomon all the days of his life.

Og Salomo rådet over alle kongerikene fra elven til filistrenes land og like til Egyptens landemerke; de kom med gaver og tjente Salomo så lenge han levde.

And Solomon's provision for one day was thirty measures of fine flour, and threescore measures of meal,

Av fødevarer gikk det hos Salomo for hver dag med tretti kor fint mel og seksti kor vanlig mel,

Ten fat oxen, and twenty oxen out of the pastures, and an hundred sheep, beside harts, and roebucks, and fallowdeer, and fatted fowl.

ti gjødde okser og tyve drifteokser og hundre stykker småfe foruten hjorter og rådyr og dådyr og gjødde fugler.

For he had dominion over all the region on this side the river, from Tiphsah even to Azzah, over all the kings on this side the river: and he had peace on all sides round about him.

For han rådet over hele landet vestenfor elven, fra Tifsah like til Gasa, over alle kongene vestenfor elven, og han hadde fred på alle kanter rundt omkring.

And Judah and Israel dwelt safely, every man under his vine and under his fig tree, from Dan even to Beer–sheba, all the days of Solomon.

Og Juda og Israel bodde trygt, hver mann under sitt vintre og under sitt fikentre, fra Dan like til Be'erseba, så lenge Salomo levde.

And Solomon had forty thousand stalls of horses for his chariots, and twelve thousand horsemen.

Salomo hadde firti tusen stallrum for sine vognhester og tolv tusen hestfolk.

And those officers provided victual for king Solomon, and for all that came unto king Solomon's table, every man in his month: they lacked nothing.

De fogder som er nevnt ovenfor, forsynte hver sin måned kong Salomo og alle som gikk til kong Salomos bord; de lot det ikke fattes på noget.

Barley also and straw for the horses and dromedaries brought they unto the place where the officers were, every man according to his charge.

Og bygget og halmen til vognhestene og traverne førte de til det sted hvor det skulde være, hver efter som det var ham foreskrevet.

And God gave Solomon wisdom and understanding exceeding much, and largeness of heart, even as the sand that is on the sea shore.

Gud gav Salomo visdom og overmåte megen innsikt og en forstand vidt omfattende som sanden på havets bredd.

And Solomon's wisdom excelled the wisdom of all the children of the east country, and all the wisdom of Egypt.

Salomos visdom var større enn alle Østens barns visdom og all egypternes visdom.

For he was wiser than all men; than Ethan the Ezrahite, and Heman, and Chalcol, and Darda, the sons of Mahol: and his fame was in all nations round about.

Han var visere enn alle mennesker - visere enn esrahitten Etan og Mahols sønner Heman og Kalkol og Darda, og hans navn var kjent blandt alle hedningefolkene rundt omkring.

And he spake three thousand proverbs: and his songs were a thousand and five.

Han laget tre tusen ordsprog, og hans sanger var et tusen og fem.

And he spake of trees, from the cedar tree that is in Lebanon even unto the hyssop that springeth out of the wall: he spake also of beasts, and of fowl, and of creeping things, and of fishes.

Han talte om trærne, fra sederen på Libanon til isopen som vokser ut på veggen, og han talte om dyrene og om fuglene og om krypet og om fiskene.

And there came of all people to hear the wisdom of Solomon, from all kings of the earth, which had heard of his wisdom.

Og de kom fra alle folk for å høre Salomos visdom, fra alle jordens konger som hadde hørt om hans visdom.
