Psalms 41

Blessed is he that considereth the poor: the LORD will deliver him in time of trouble.

Per il Capo de’ musici. Salmo di Davide. Beato colui che si dà pensiero del povero! nel giorno della sventura l’Eterno lo libererà.

The LORD will preserve him, and keep him alive; and he shall be blessed upon the earth: and thou wilt not deliver him unto the will of his enemies.

L’Eterno lo guarderà e lo manterrà in vita; egli sarà reso felice sulla terra, e tu non lo darai in balìa de’ suoi nemici.

The LORD will strengthen him upon the bed of languishing: thou wilt make all his bed in his sickness.

L’Eterno lo sosterrà quando sarà nel letto della infermità; tu trasformerai interamente il suo letto di malattia.

I said, LORD, be merciful unto me: heal my soul; for I have sinned against thee.

Io ho detto: O Eterno, abbi pietà di me; sana l’anima mia, perché ho peccato contro a te.

Mine enemies speak evil of me, When shall he die, and his name perish?

I miei nemici mi augurano del male, dicendo: Quando morrà? e quando perirà il suo nome?

And if he come to see me, he speaketh vanity: his heart gathereth iniquity to itself; when he goeth abroad, he telleth it.

E se un di loro viene a vedermi, parla con menzogna: il suo cuore intanto ammassa iniquità dentro di sé; appena uscito, egli parla.

All that hate me whisper together against me: against me do they devise my hurt.

Tutti quelli che m’odiano bisbiglian fra loro contro a me; contro a me macchinano del male.

An evil disease, say they, cleaveth fast unto him: and now that he lieth he shall rise up no more.

Un male incurabile, essi dicono, gli s’è attaccato addosso; ed ora che giace, non si rileverà mai più.

Yea, mine own familiar friend, in whom I trusted, which did eat of my bread, hath lifted up his heel against me.

Perfino l’uomo col quale vivevo in pace, nel quale confidavo, che mangiava il mio pane, ha alzato il calcagno contro a me.

But thou, O LORD, be merciful unto me, and raise me up, that I may requite them.

Ma tu, o Eterno, abbi pietà di me e rialzami, ed io renderò loro quel che si meritano.

By this I know that thou favourest me, because mine enemy doth not triumph over me.

Da questo io riconoscerò che tu mi gradisci, se il mio nemico non trionferà di me.

And as for me, thou upholdest me in mine integrity, and settest me before thy face for ever.

Quanto a me, tu mi sostieni nella mia integrità e mi stabilisci nel tuo cospetto in perpetuo.

Blessed be the LORD God of Israel from everlasting, and to everlasting. Amen, and Amen.

Sia benedetto l’Eterno, l’Iddio d’Israele, di secolo in secolo. Amen! Amen!
