Titus 2

But speak thou the things which become sound doctrine:

Te pedig azokat szóljad, a mik az egészséges tudományhoz illenek.

That the aged men be sober, grave, temperate, sound in faith, in charity, in patience.

Hogy a vén emberek józanok legyenek, tisztességesek, mértékletesek; a hitben, szeretetben, tűrésben épek.

The aged women likewise, that they be in behaviour as becometh holiness, not false accusers, not given to much wine, teachers of good things;

Hasonlóképen a vén asszonyok szentekhez illő magaviseletűek legyenek, nem patvarkodók, sem sok borivás rabjai, jóra oktatók;

That they may teach the young women to be sober, to love their husbands, to love their children,

Hogy megokosítsák az ifjú asszonyokat, hogy férjöket és magzataikat szeressék,

To be discreet, chaste, keepers at home, good, obedient to their own husbands, that the word of God be not blasphemed.

*Legyenek* mértékletesek, tiszták, háziasak, jók, férjöknek engedelmesek, hogy az Isten beszéde ne káromoltassék.

Young men likewise exhort to be sober minded.

Az ifjakat hasonlóképen intsed, hogy legyenek mértékletesek:

In all things shewing thyself a pattern of good works: in doctrine shewing uncorruptness, gravity, sincerity,

Mindenben tenmagadat adván példaképül a jó cselekedetekben; a tudományban romlatlanságot, méltóságot *mutatván,*

Sound speech, that cannot be condemned; that he that is of the contrary part may be ashamed, having no evil thing to say of you.

Egészséges, feddhetetlen beszédet; hogy az ellenfél megszégyenüljön, semmi gonoszt sem tudván rólatok mondani.

Exhort servants to be obedient unto their own masters, and to please them well in all things; not answering again;

A szolgákat *intsed,* hogy az ő uraiknak engedelmeskedjenek, mindenben kedvöket keressék, ne ellenkezzenek,

Not purloining, but shewing all good fidelity; that they may adorn the doctrine of God our Saviour in all things.

Ne tolvajkodjanak, hanem teljes jó hűséget tanusítsanak; hogy a mi megtartó Istenünknek tudományát ékesítsék mindenben.

For the grace of God that bringeth salvation hath appeared to all men,

Mert megjelent az Isten idvezítő kegyelme minden embernek,

Teaching us that, denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live soberly, righteously, and godly, in this present world;

A mely arra tanít minket, hogy megtagadván a hitetlenséget és a világi kivánságokat, mértékletesen, igazán és szentül éljünk a jelenvaló világon:

Looking for that blessed hope, and the glorious appearing of the great God and our Saviour Jesus Christ;

Várván ama boldog reménységet és a nagy Istennek és megtartó Jézus Krisztusunknak dicsősége megjelenését;

Who gave himself for us, that he might redeem us from all iniquity, and purify unto himself a peculiar people, zealous of good works.

A ki önmagát adta mi érettünk, hogy megváltson minket minden hamisságtól, és tisztítson önmagának kiváltképen való népet, jó cselekedetekre igyekezőt.

These things speak, and exhort, and rebuke with all authority. Let no man despise thee.

Ezeket szóljad, és ints és feddj teljes méltósággal; senki téged meg ne vessen.
