I Chronicles 23

So when David was old and full of days, he made Solomon his son king over Israel.

दाऊद बुढ़ा हो गया, इसलिये उसने अपने पुत्र सुलैमान को इस्राएल का नया राजा बनाया।

And he gathered together all the princes of Israel, with the priests and the Levites.

दाऊद ने इस्राएल के सभी प्रमुखों को इकट्ठा किया। उसने याजकों और लेवीवंशियों को भी इकट्ठा किया।

Now the Levites were numbered from the age of thirty years and upward: and their number by their polls, man by man, was thirty and eight thousand.

दाऊद ने तीस वर्ष और उससे ऊपर की उम्र के लेवीवेंशियों को गिना। सब मिलाकर अड़तीस हजार लेवीवंशी थे।

Of which, twenty and four thousand were to set forward the work of the house of the LORD; and six thousand were officers and judges:

दाऊद ने कहा, “चौबीस हजार लेवीवंशी यहोवा के मन्दिर के निर्माण कार्य की देखभाल करेंगें। छःहजार लेवीवंशी सिपाही और न्यायाधीश होंगे।

Moreover four thousand were porters; and four thousand praised the LORD with the instruments which I made, said David, to praise therewith.

चार हजार लेवीवंसी द्वारपाल होंगे और चार हाजार लेवीवंशी संगीतज्ञ होंगे। मैंने उनके लिये विशेष वाद्य बनाए हैं। वे उन वाद्यों का उपयोग यहोवा की स्तुति के लिये करेंगे।”

And David divided them into courses among the sons of Levi, namely, Gershon, Kohath, and Merari.

दाऊद ने लेवीवंशियों को तीन वर्गों में बाँट दिया। वे लेवी के तीन पुत्रों गेर्शोन, कहात और मरारी के परिवार समूह थे।

Of the Gershonites were, Laadan, and Shimei.

गेर्शोन के परिवार समूह से लादान और शिमी थे।

The sons of Laadan; the chief was Jehiel, and Zetham, and Joel, three.

लादान के तीन पुत्र थे। उसका सबसे बड़ा पुत्र यहीएल था। उसके अन्य पुत्र जेताम और योएल थे।

The sons of Shimei; Shelomith, and Haziel, and Haran, three. These were the chief of the fathers of Laadan.

शिमी के पुत्र शलोमीत, हजीएल और हारान थे। ये तीनों पुत्र लादान के परिवारों के प्रमुख थे।

And the sons of Shimei were, Jahath, Zina, and Jeush, and Beriah. These four were the sons of Shimei.

शिमी के चार पुत्र थे। वे यहत, जीना, यूश और बरीआ थे।

And Jahath was the chief, and Zizah the second: but Jeush and Beriah had not many sons; therefore they were in one reckoning, according to their father's house.

यहत सबसे बड़ा और जीजा दूसरा पुत्र था। किन्तु यूश और बरीआ के बहुत से पुत्र नहीं थे। इसलिए यूश और बरीआ एक परिवार के रूप में गिने जाते थे।

The sons of Kohath; Amram, Izhar, Hebron, and Uzziel, four.

कहात के चार पुत्र थे। वे अम्राम, यिसहार हेब्रोन और उज्जीएल थे।

The sons of Amram; Aaron and Moses: and Aaron was separated, that he should sanctify the most holy things, he and his sons for ever, to burn incense before the LORD, to minister unto him, and to bless in his name for ever.

अम्राम के पुत्र हारून और मूसा थे। हारून अति विशेष होने के लिये चुना गया था। हारून और उसके वंशज सदा सदा के लिये विशेष होने को चुने गए थे। वे यहोवा की सेवा के लिये पवित्र चीजें बनाने के लिये चुने गए थे। हारून और उसके वंशज यहोवा के सामने सुगन्धि जलाने के लिये चुने गए थे। वे यहोवा की सेवा याजक के रूप में करने के लिये चुने गए थे। वे यहोवा के नाम का उपयोग करने और लोगों को आशीर्वाद देने के लिये सदा के लिये चुने गए थे।

Now concerning Moses the man of God, his sons were named of the tribe of Levi.

मूसा परमेश्वर का व्यक्ति था। मूसा के पुत्र, लेवी के परिवार समूह के भाग थे।

The sons of Moses were, Gershom, and Eliezer.

मूसा के पुत्र गेर्शोम और एलीएजेर थे।

Of the sons of Gershom, Shebuel was the chief.

गेर्शोन का बड़ा पुत्र शबूएल था।

And the sons of Eliezer were, Rehabiah the chief. And Eliezer had none other sons; but the sons of Rehabiah were very many.

एलीएजेर का बड़ा पुत्र रहब्याह था। एलीएजेर के और कोई पुत्र नहीं थे। किन्तु रहब्याह के बहुत से पुत्र थे।

Of the sons of Izhar; Shelomith the chief.

यिसहार का सबसे बड़ा पुत्र शलोमीत था।

Of the sons of Hebron; Jeriah the first, Amariah the second, Jahaziel the third, and Jekameam the fourth.

हेब्रोन का सबसे बड़ा पुत्र यरीय्याह था। हेब्रोन का दूसरा पुत्र अर्मायह था। यहजीएल तीसरा पुत्र था और यकमाम चौथा पुत्र था।

Of the sons of Uzziel; Michah the first, and Jesiah the second.

उज्जीएल का सबसे बड़ा पुत्र मीका था और यिश्शिय्याह उसका दूसरा पुत्र था।

The sons of Merari; Mahli, and Mushi. The sons of Mahli; Eleazar, and Kish.

मरारी के पुत्र महली और मूशी थे। महली के पुत्र एलीआजार और कीश थे।

And Eleazar died, and had no sons, but daughters: and their brethren the sons of Kish took them.

एलीआजर बिना पुत्रों के मरा। उसकी केवल पुत्रियाँ थीं। एलीआजर की पुत्रियों ने अपने सम्बन्धियों से विवाह किया उनके सम्बन्धी कीश के पुत्र थे।

The sons of Mushi; Mahli, and Eder, and Jeremoth, three.

मूशी के पुत्र महली, एदेर और यरेमोत थे सब मिला कर तीन पुत्र थे।

These were the sons of Levi after the house of their fathers; even the chief of the fathers, as they were counted by number of names by their polls, that did the work for the service of the house of the LORD, from the age of twenty years and upward.

लेवी के वंशज ये थे। वे अपने परिवार के अनुसार सूची में अंकित थे। वे परिवारों के प्रमुख थे। हर एक व्यक्ति का नाम सूची में अंकित था। जो सूची में अंकित थे, वे बीस वर्ष के या उससे ऊपर के थे। वे यहोवा के मन्दिर में सेवा करते थे।

For David said, The LORD God of Israel hath given rest unto his people, that they may dwell in Jerusalem for ever:

दाऊद ने कहा था, “इस्राएल के यहोवा परमेश्वर ने अपने लोगों को शान्ति दी है। यहोवा यरूशलेम में सदैव रहने के लिये आ गया है।

And also unto the Levites; they shall no more carry the tabernacle, nor any vessels of it for the service thereof.

इसलिये लेवीवंशियों को पवित्र तम्बू या इसकी सेवा में काम आने वाली किसी चीज़ को भविष्य में ढोने की आवश्यकता नहीं है।”

For by the last words of David the Levites were numbered from twenty years old and above:

दाऊद के अन्तिम निर्देश इस्राएल के लोगों के लिये, लेवी के परिवार समूह के वंशजों को गिनना था। उन्होंने लेवीवंशियों के बीस वर्ष और उससे ऊपर के व्यक्तियों को गिना।

Because their office was to wait on the sons of Aaron for the service of the house of the LORD, in the courts, and in the chambers, and in the purifying of all holy things, and the work of the service of the house of God;

लेवीवंशियों का काम हारून के वंशजों को यहोवा के मन्दिर में सेवा कार्य करने में सहायता करना था। लेवीवंशी मन्दिर के आँगन और बगल के कमरों की भी देखभाल करते थे। उनका काम सभी पवित्र चीजों को शुद्ध करने का था। उनका काम यह भी था कि परमेश्वर के मन्दिर में सेवा करें।

Both for the shewbread, and for the fine flour for meat offering, and for the unleavened cakes, and for that which is baked in the pan, and for that which is fried, and for all manner of measure and size;

मन्दिर में विशेष रोटी को मेज पर रखने का उत्तरदायित्व उनका ही था। वे आटा, अन्नबलि और अखमीरी रोटी के लिये भी उत्तरदायी थे। वे पकाने की कढ़ाईयों और मिश्रित भेंटों के लिये भी उत्तरदायी थे। वे सारा नाप तौल का काम करते थे।

And to stand every morning to thank and praise the LORD, and likewise at even;

लेवीवंशी हर एक प्रातः खड़े होते थे और यहोवा का धन्यवाद और स्तुति करते थे। वे इसे हर सन्ध्या को भी करते थे।

And to offer all burnt sacrifices unto the LORD in the sabbaths, in the new moons, and on the set feasts, by number, according to the order commanded unto them, continually before the LORD:

लेवीवंशी यहोवा को सभी होमबलियाँ विश्राम के विशेष दिनों, नवचन्द्र उत्सवों और सभी अन्य विशेष पर्व के दिनों,पर तैयार करते थे। वे यहोवा के सामने प्रतिदिन सेवा करते थे। कितने लेवीवंशी हर बार सेवा करेंगे उसके लिये विशेष नियम थे।

And that they should keep the charge of the tabernacle of the congregation, and the charge of the holy place, and the charge of the sons of Aaron their brethren, in the service of the house of the LORD.

अतः लेवीवंशी वे सब काम करते थे। जिनकी आशा उनसे की जाती थी। वे पवित्र तम्बू की देखभाल करते थे वे पवित्र स्थान की देखभाल करते थे और वे अपने सम्बन्धियों हारून के वंशज याजकों को सहायता देते थे। लेवीवंशी यहोवा के मन्दिर में सेवा करके याजकों की सेवा करते थे।
