James 5

Go to now, ye rich men, weep and howl for your miseries that shall come upon you.

Wohlan nun, ihr Reichen, weinet und heulet über euer Elend, das über euch kommt!

Your riches are corrupted, and your garments are motheaten.

Euer Reichtum ist verfault, und eure Kleider sind mottenfressig geworden.

Your gold and silver is cankered; and the rust of them shall be a witness against you, and shall eat your flesh as it were fire. Ye have heaped treasure together for the last days.

Euer Gold und Silber ist verrostet, und ihr Rost wird zum Zeugnis sein wider euch und euer Fleisch fressen wie Feuer; ihr habt Schätze gesammelt in den letzten Tagen.

Behold, the hire of the labourers who have reaped down your fields, which is of you kept back by fraud, crieth: and the cries of them which have reaped are entered into the ears of the Lord of sabaoth.

Siehe, der Lohn der Arbeiter, die eure Felder geschnitten haben, der von euch vorenthalten ist, schreit, und das Geschrei der Schnitter ist vor die Ohren des Herrn Zebaoth gekommen.

Ye have lived in pleasure on the earth, and been wanton; ye have nourished your hearts, as in a day of slaughter.

Ihr habt in Üppigkeit gelebt auf der Erde und geschwelgt; ihr habt eure Herzen gepflegt wie an einem Schlachttage.

Ye have condemned and killed the just; and he doth not resist you.

Ihr habt verurteilt, ihr habt getötet den Gerechten; er widersteht euch nicht.

Be patient therefore, brethren, unto the coming of the Lord. Behold, the husbandman waiteth for the precious fruit of the earth, and hath long patience for it, until he receive the early and latter rain.

Habt nun Geduld, Brüder, bis zur Ankunft des Herrn. Siehe, der Ackersmann wartet auf die köstliche Frucht der Erde und hat Geduld ihretwegen, bis sie den Früh- und Spätregen empfange.

Be ye also patient; stablish your hearts: for the coming of the Lord draweth nigh.

Habt auch ihr Geduld, befestiget eure Herzen, denn die Ankunft des Herrn ist nahe gekommen.

Grudge not one against another, brethren, lest ye be condemned: behold, the judge standeth before the door.

Seufzet nicht widereinander, Brüder, auf daß ihr nicht gerichtet werdet. Siehe, der Richter steht vor der Tür.

Take, my brethren, the prophets, who have spoken in the name of the Lord, for an example of suffering affliction, and of patience.

Nehmet, Brüder, zum Vorbild des Leidens und der Geduld die Propheten, die im Namen des Herrn geredet haben.

Behold, we count them happy which endure. Ye have heard of the patience of Job, and have seen the end of the Lord; that the Lord is very pitiful, and of tender mercy.

Siehe, wir preisen die glückselig, welche ausgeharrt haben. Von dem Ausharren Hiobs habt ihr gehört, und das Ende des Herrn habt ihr gesehen, daß der Herr voll innigen Mitgefühls und barmherzig ist.

But above all things, my brethren, swear not, neither by heaven, neither by the earth, neither by any other oath: but let your yea be yea; and your nay, nay; lest ye fall into condemnation.

Vor allem aber, meine Brüder, schwöret nicht, weder bei dem Himmel, noch bei der Erde, noch mit irgend einem anderen Eide; es sei aber euer Ja ja, und euer Nein nein, auf daß ihr nicht unter Gericht fallet.

Is any among you afflicted? let him pray. Is any merry? let him sing psalms.

Leidet jemand unter euch Trübsal? er bete. Ist jemand gutes Mutes? er singe Psalmen.

Is any sick among you? let him call for the elders of the church; and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord:

Ist jemand krank unter euch? er rufe die Ältesten der Versammlung zu sich, und sie mögen über ihn beten und ihn mit Öl salben im Namen des Herrn.

And the prayer of faith shall save the sick, and the Lord shall raise him up; and if he have committed sins, they shall be forgiven him.

Und das Gebet des Glaubens wird den Kranken heilen, und der Herr wird ihn aufrichten, und wenn er Sünden begangen hat, wird ihm vergeben werden.

Confess your faults one to another, and pray one for another, that ye may be healed. The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much.

Bekennet denn einander die Vergehungen und betet füreinander, damit ihr geheilt werdet; das inbrünstige Gebet eines Gerechten vermag viel.

Elias was a man subject to like passions as we are, and he prayed earnestly that it might not rain: and it rained not on the earth by the space of three years and six months.

Elias war ein Mensch von gleichen Gemütsbewegungen wie wir; und er betete ernstlich, daß es nicht regnen möge, und es regnete nicht auf der Erde drei Jahre und sechs Monate.

And he prayed again, and the heaven gave rain, and the earth brought forth her fruit.

Und wiederum betete er, und der Himmel gab Regen, und die Erde brachte ihre Frucht hervor.

Brethren, if any of you do err from the truth, and one convert him;

Meine Brüder, wenn jemand unter euch von der Wahrheit abirrt, und es führt ihn jemand zurück,

Let him know, that he which converteth the sinner from the error of his way shall save a soul from death, and shall hide a multitude of sins.

so wisse er, daß der, welcher einen Sünder von dem Irrtum seines Weges zurückführt, eine Seele vom Tode erretten und eine Menge von Sünden bedecken wird.
