II Kings 7

Then Elisha said, Hear ye the word of the LORD; Thus saith the LORD, To morrow about this time shall a measure of fine flour be sold for a shekel, and two measures of barley for a shekel, in the gate of Samaria.

Da sprach Elisa: Höret das Wort Jehovas! So spricht Jehova: Morgen um diese Zeit wird ein Maß Feinmehl einen Sekel gelten, und zwei Maß Gerste einen Sekel im Tore von Samaria.

Then a lord on whose hand the king leaned answered the man of God, and said, Behold, if the LORD would make windows in heaven, might this thing be? And he said, Behold, thou shalt see it with thine eyes, but shalt not eat thereof.

Da antwortete der Anführer, auf dessen Hand der König sich lehnte, dem Manne Gottes und sprach: Siehe, wenn Jehova Fenster am Himmel machte, würde wohl dieses geschehen? Und er sprach: Siehe, du wirst es mit deinen Augen sehen, aber du wirst nicht davon essen.

And there were four leprous men at the entering in of the gate: and they said one to another, Why sit we here until we die?

Es waren aber vier aussätzige Männer am Eingang des Tores; und sie sprachen einer zum anderen: Was bleiben wir hier, bis wir sterben?

If we say, We will enter into the city, then the famine is in the city, and we shall die there: and if we sit still here, we die also. Now therefore come, and let us fall unto the host of the Syrians: if they save us alive, we shall live; and if they kill us, we shall but die.

Wenn wir sprechen: Laßt uns in die Stadt gehen, so ist die Hungersnot in der Stadt, und wir werden daselbst sterben; und wenn wir hier bleiben, so werden wir auch sterben. Und nun kommt und laßt uns zu dem Lager der Syrer überlaufen; wenn sie uns am Leben lassen, so leben wir, und wenn sie uns töten, so sterben wir.

And they rose up in the twilight, to go unto the camp of the Syrians: and when they were come to the uttermost part of the camp of Syria, behold, there was no man there.

Und so machten sie sich in der Dämmerung auf, um ins Lager der Syrer zu kommen; und sie kamen an das Ende des Lagers der Syrer, und siehe, kein Mensch war da.

For the Lord had made the host of the Syrians to hear a noise of chariots, and a noise of horses, even the noise of a great host: and they said one to another, Lo, the king of Israel hath hired against us the kings of the Hittites, and the kings of the Egyptians, to come upon us.

Denn der Herr hatte das Heerlager der Syrer ein Getöse von Wagen und ein Getöse von Rossen hören lassen, das Getöse einer großen Heeresmacht; und sie sprachen einer zum anderen: Siehe, der König von Israel hat die Könige der Hethiter und die Könige von Ägypten wider uns gedungen, daß sie über uns kommen sollen.

Wherefore they arose and fled in the twilight, and left their tents, and their horses, and their asses, even the camp as it was, and fled for their life.

Und sie machten sich auf und flohen in der Dämmerung; sie ließen ihre Zelte und ihre Rosse und ihre Esel, das Lager, so wie es war, und flohen um ihr Leben.

And when these lepers came to the uttermost part of the camp, they went into one tent, and did eat and drink, and carried thence silver, and gold, and raiment, and went and hid it; and came again, and entered into another tent, and carried thence also, and went and hid it.

Als nun jene Aussätzigen an das Ende des Lagers kamen, gingen sie in ein Zelt und aßen und tranken; und sie nahmen Silber daraus und Gold und Kleider und gingen hin und verbargen es. Und sie kamen wieder und gingen in ein anderes Zelt; und sie nahmen daraus und gingen hin und verbargen es.

Then they said one to another, We do not well: this day is a day of good tidings, and we hold our peace: if we tarry till the morning light, some mischief will come upon us: now therefore come, that we may go and tell the king's household.

Da sprachen sie einer zum anderen: Wir tun nicht recht: Dieser Tag ist ein Tag guter Botschaft; schweigen wir aber und warten, bis der Morgen hell wird, so wird uns Schuld treffen. Und nun kommt und laßt uns hineingehen und es im Hause des Königs berichten.

So they came and called unto the porter of the city: and they told them, saying, We came to the camp of the Syrians, and, behold, there was no man there, neither voice of man, but horses tied, and asses tied, and the tents as they were.

Und sie kamen und riefen die Torwache der Stadt, und berichteten ihnen und sprachen: Wir sind in das Lager der Syrer gekommen, und siehe, kein Mensch war da, und keine Menschenstimme; sondern nur die Rosse angebunden und die Esel angebunden, und die Zelte, so wie sie waren.

And he called the porters; and they told it to the king's house within.

Und sie riefen die Torwächter, und sie berichteten es drinnen im Hause des Königs.

And the king arose in the night, and said unto his servants, I will now shew you what the Syrians have done to us. They know that we be hungry; therefore are they gone out of the camp to hide themselves in the field, saying, When they come out of the city, we shall catch them alive, and get into the city.

Da stand der König in der Nacht auf und sprach zu seinen Knechten: Ich will euch sagen, was die Syrer uns getan haben: sie wissen, daß wir Hunger leiden, und sie sind aus dem Lager gegangen, um sich auf dem Felde zu verbergen, indem sie sagen: Wenn sie aus der Stadt herausgehen, so wollen wir sie lebendig greifen und in die Stadt eindringen.

And one of his servants answered and said, Let some take, I pray thee, five of the horses that remain, which are left in the city, (behold, they are as all the multitude of Israel that are left in it: behold, I say, they are even as all the multitude of the Israelites that are consumed:) and let us send and see.

Da antwortete einer von seinen Knechten und sprach: So nehme man doch fünf von den übrigen Rossen, die darin übriggeblieben sind (siehe, sie sind wie die ganze Menge Israels, die darin übriggeblieben, sie sind wie die ganze Menge Israels, die aufgerieben ist), und laßt uns hinsenden und sehen.

They took therefore two chariot horses; and the king sent after the host of the Syrians, saying, Go and see.

Und sie nahmen zwei Wagen mit Rossen, und der König sandte sie hinter dem Heere der Syrer her und sprach:

And they went after them unto Jordan: and, lo, all the way was full of garments and vessels, which the Syrians had cast away in their haste. And the messengers returned, and told the king.

Gehet hin und sehet. Und sie zogen ihnen nach bis an den Jordan; und siehe, der ganze Weg war voll Kleider und Geräte, welche die Syrer auf ihrer eiligen Flucht weggeworfen hatten. Und die Boten kehrten zurück und berichteten es dem König.

And the people went out, and spoiled the tents of the Syrians. So a measure of fine flour was sold for a shekel, and two measures of barley for a shekel, according to the word of the LORD.

Da ging das Volk hinaus und plünderte das Lager der Syrer; und es galt ein Maß Feinmehl einen Sekel, und zwei Maß Gerste einen Sekel nach dem Worte Jehovas.

And the king appointed the lord on whose hand he leaned to have the charge of the gate: and the people trode upon him in the gate, and he died, as the man of God had said, who spake when the king came down to him.

Der König hatte aber den Anführer, auf dessen Hand er sich lehnte, über das Tor bestellt; und das Volk zertrat ihn im Tore, und er starb, so wie der Mann Gottes geredet hatte, wie er geredet hatte, als der König zu ihm herabkam.

And it came to pass as the man of God had spoken to the king, saying, Two measures of barley for a shekel, and a measure of fine flour for a shekel, shall be to morrow about this time in the gate of Samaria:

Denn es geschah, als der Mann Gottes zu dem König redete und sprach: Zwei Maß Gerste werden morgen um diese Zeit einen Sekel gelten, und ein Maß Feinmehl einen Sekel im Tore von Samaria,

And that lord answered the man of God, and said, Now, behold, if the LORD should make windows in heaven, might such a thing be? And he said, Behold, thou shalt see it with thine eyes, but shalt not eat thereof.

da antwortete der Anführer dem Manne Gottes und sprach: Siehe, wenn Jehova auch Fenster am Himmel machte, würde wohl so etwas geschehen? Und er sprach: Siehe, du wirst es mit deinen Augen sehen, aber du wirst nicht davon essen.

And so it fell out unto him: for the people trode upon him in the gate, and he died.

Und es geschah ihm also: das Volk zertrat ihn im Tore, und er starb.
