Luke 22

Now the feast of unleavened bread drew nigh, which is called the Passover.

Niin lähestyi makian leivän juhlapäivä, joka pääsiäiseksi kutsutaan.

And the chief priests and scribes sought how they might kill him; for they feared the people.

Ja ylimmäiset papit ja kirjanoppineet etsivät, kuinka he olisivat hänen saaneet tappaa. Mutta he pelkäsivät kansaa.

Then entered Satan into Judas surnamed Iscariot, being of the number of the twelve.

And he went his way, and communed with the chief priests and captains, how he might betray him unto them.

And they were glad, and covenanted to give him money.

Ja he ihastuivat ja lupasivat hänelle rahaa.

And he promised, and sought opportunity to betray him unto them in the absence of the multitude.

Then came the day of unleavened bread, when the passover must be killed.

Niin makian leivän päivä tuli, jona pääsiäislammas piti teurastettaman,

And he sent Peter and John, saying, Go and prepare us the passover, that we may eat.

Ja hän lähetti Pietarin ja Johanneksen, sanoen: menkäät valmistamaan meille pääsiäislammas syödäksemme.

And they said unto him, Where wilt thou that we prepare?

Niin he sanoivat hänelle: kussas tahdot meitä valmistamaan?

And he said unto them, Behold, when ye are entered into the city, there shall a man meet you, bearing a pitcher of water; follow him into the house where he entereth in.

Hän sanoi heille: katso, kuin te kaupunkiin tulette sisälle, kohtaa teitä ihminen, kantain vesiastiaa: seuratkaat häntä siihen huoneesen, johonka hän menee.

And ye shall say unto the goodman of the house, The Master saith unto thee, Where is the guestchamber, where I shall eat the passover with my disciples?

Ja sanokaat sen huoneen perheenisännälle: Mestari sanoo sinulle: kussa on maja, jossa minä syön pääsiäislampaan opetuslasteni kanssa?

And he shall shew you a large upper room furnished: there make ready.

Ja hän osoittaa teille suuren salin rakennetun; valmistakaat siellä.

And they went, and found as he had said unto them: and they made ready the passover.

Niin he menivät ja löysivät niinkuin hän heille sanonut oli, ja valmistivat pääsiäislampaan.

And when the hour was come, he sat down, and the twelve apostles with him.

Ja kuin jo aika tullut oli, istui hän pöydän tykönä ja kaksitoistakymmentä apostolia hänen kanssansa.

And he said unto them, With desire I have desired to eat this passover with you before I suffer:

Ja hän sanoi heille: minä olen halulla halainnut syödä tätä pääsiäislammasta teidän kanssanne, ennekuin minä kärsin.

For I say unto you, I will not any more eat thereof, until it be fulfilled in the kingdom of God.

Sillä minä sanon teille, etten minä suinkaan silleen siitä syö, siihenasti kuin se täytetään Jumalan valtakunnassa.

And he took the cup, and gave thanks, and said, Take this, and divide it among yourselves:

Ja hän otti kalkin, kiitti, ja sanoi: ottakaat ja jakakaat keskenänne.

For I say unto you, I will not drink of the fruit of the vine, until the kingdom of God shall come.

Sillä minä sanon teille, etten minä suinkaan juo viinapuun hedelmää, siihenasti kuin Jumalan valtakunta tulee.

And he took bread, and gave thanks, and brake it, and gave unto them, saying, This is my body which is given for you: this do in remembrance of me.

Ja hän otti leivän, kiitti ja mursi, ja antoi heille, sanoen: tämä on minun ruumiini, joka teidän edestänne annetaan: se tehkäät minun muistokseni;

Likewise also the cup after supper, saying, This cup is the new testament in my blood, which is shed for you.

Niin myös kalkin ehtoollisen jälkeen, sanoen: tämä kalkki on uusi Testamentti, minun veressäni, joka teidän edestänne vuodatetaan.

But, behold, the hand of him that betrayeth me is with me on the table.

Kuitenkin, katso, minun pettäjäni käsi on minun kanssani pöydällä.

And truly the Son of man goeth, as it was determined: but woe unto that man by whom he is betrayed!

Ja tosin Ihmisen Poika menee niinkuin päätetty on: kuitenkin voi sitä ihmistä, jolta hän petetään!

And they began to enquire among themselves, which of them it was that should do this thing.

Ja he rupesivat kyselemään keskenänsä: kuka olis se heistä, joka sen tekevä olis?

And there was also a strife among them, which of them should be accounted the greatest.

Mutta heidän välillänsä tuli myös riita, kuka heistä näkyis suurin olevan.

And he said unto them, The kings of the Gentiles exercise lordship over them; and they that exercise authority upon them are called benefactors.

Niin hän sanoi heille: kansain kuninkaat vallitsevat heitä, ja joilla valta on heidän ylitsensä, ne kutsutaan armollisiksi herroiksi.

But ye shall not be so: but he that is greatest among you, let him be as the younger; and he that is chief, as he that doth serve.

Mutta ette te niin: vaan joka teistä suurin on, se olkoon niinkuin nuorin, ja joka ylimmäinen on, se olkoon niinkuin se, joka palvelee.

For whether is greater, he that sitteth at meat, or he that serveth? is not he that sitteth at meat? but I am among you as he that serveth.

Sillä kumpi suurempi on: se joka atrioitsee, taikka se joka palvelee? eikö se joka atrioitsee? mutta minä olen teidän keskellänne niinkuin se, joka palvelee.

Ye are they which have continued with me in my temptations.

Mutta te olette ne, jotka minun kiusauksissani minun kanssani pysyitte.

And I appoint unto you a kingdom, as my Father hath appointed unto me;

Ja minä säädin teille, niinkuin minun Isäni sääsi minulle, valtakunnan:

That ye may eat and drink at my table in my kingdom, and sit on thrones judging the twelve tribes of Israel.

Että teidän pitää syömän ja juoman minun pöydälläni minun valtakunnassani, ja istuman istuimilla, ja tuomitseman kaksitoistakymmentä Israelin sukukuntaa.

And the Lord said, Simon, Simon, behold, Satan hath desired to have you, that he may sift you as wheat:

Niin sanoi myös Herra: Simon, Simon, katso, saatana on teitä pyytänyt seuloaksensa niinkuin nisuja.

But I have prayed for thee, that thy faith fail not: and when thou art converted, strengthen thy brethren.

Vaan minä rukoilin sinun edestäs, ettei sinun uskos puuttuman pidä. Ja kuin sinä kerran palajat, niin vahvista veljiäs.

And he said unto him, Lord, I am ready to go with thee, both into prison, and to death.

Niin hän sanoi hänelle: Herra, minä olen valmis sinun kanssas sekä vankiuteen että kuolemaan menemään.

And he said, I tell thee, Peter, the cock shall not crow this day, before that thou shalt thrice deny that thou knowest me.

Mutta hän sanoi: Pietari, minä sanon sinulle, ei laula tänäpänä kukko ennen kuin sinä kolmasti kiellät tuntevas minua.

And he said unto them, When I sent you without purse, and scrip, and shoes, lacked ye any thing? And they said, Nothing.

Ja hän sanoi heille: kuin minä lähetin teidät ilman säkkiä ja kukkaroa ja kenkiä, puuttuiko teiltä mitään? He sanoivat: ei mitään.

Then said he unto them, But now, he that hath a purse, let him take it, and likewise his scrip: and he that hath no sword, let him sell his garment, and buy one.

Niin hän sanoi heille: vaan nyt, jolla säkki on, ottakoon sen, niin myös kukkaren; ja jolla ei ole, se myykään hameensa ja ostakaan miekan.

For I say unto you, that this that is written must yet be accomplished in me, And he was reckoned among the transgressors: for the things concerning me have an end.

Sillä minä sanon teille: vielä sekin mikä kirjoitettu on, pitää minussa täytettämän: hän on pahantekiäin sekaan luettu; sillä ne, mitkä minusta kirjoitetut ovat, pitää loppuman.

And they said, Lord, behold, here are two swords. And he said unto them, It is enough.

Niin he sanoivat: Herra, katso, tässä on kaksi miekkaa. Hän sanoi heille: kyllä siinä on.

And he came out, and went, as he was wont, to the mount of Olives; and his disciples also followed him.

Ja hän läksi ulos ja meni, niinkuin hänen tapansa oli, Öljymäelle; niin seurasivat myös häntä hänen opetuslapsensa.

And when he was at the place, he said unto them, Pray that ye enter not into temptation.

Ja kuin hän siihen paikkaan tuli, sanoi hän heille: rukoilkaat, ettette tulisi kiusaukseen.

And he was withdrawn from them about a stone's cast, and kneeled down, and prayed,

Ja hän erkani heistä lähes kivellä heittää ja laski polvillensa, rukoili,

Saying, Father, if thou be willing, remove this cup from me: nevertheless not my will, but thine, be done.

Sanoen: Isä, jos sinä tahdot, niin ota pois minulta tämä kalkki, kuitenkin ei minun tahtoni, mutta sinun olkoon.

And there appeared an angel unto him from heaven, strengthening him.

Niin enkeli taivaasta ilmestyi hänelle ja vahvisti häntä.

And being in an agony he prayed more earnestly: and his sweat was as it were great drops of blood falling down to the ground.

Ja kuin hän sangen suuress ahdistuksessa oli, rukoili hän hartaammin. Ja oli hänen hikensä niinkuin verenpisarat, jotka maan päälle putosivat.

And when he rose up from prayer, and was come to his disciples, he found them sleeping for sorrow,

Ja kuin hän nousi rukoilemasta ja tuli opetuslastensa tykö, löysi hän ne murheen tähden makaamasta,

And said unto them, Why sleep ye? rise and pray, lest ye enter into temptation.

Ja hän sanoi heille: mitä te makaatte? nouskaat ja rukoilkaat, ettette kiusaukseen lankeaisi.

And while he yet spake, behold a multitude, and he that was called Judas, one of the twelve, went before them, and drew near unto Jesus to kiss him.

Vielä hänen puhuissansa, katso, joukko ja se, joka kutsuttiin Juudas, yksi kahdestatoistakymmenestä, kävi heidän edellänsä, ja lähestyi Jesusta suuta antamaan hänen.

But Jesus said unto him, Judas, betrayest thou the Son of man with a kiss?

Niin Jesus sanoi hänelle: Juudas, suun antamisellako sinä Ihmisen Pojan petät?

When they which were about him saw what would follow, they said unto him, Lord, shall we smite with the sword?

Kuin ne, jotka hänen ympärillänsä olivat, näkivät, mitä tuleva oli, sanoivat he hänelle: Herra, emmekö me lyö miekalla?

And one of them smote the servant of the high priest, and cut off his right ear.

Ja yksi heistä löi pappein päämiehen palveliaa ja hakkasi pois hänen oikian korvansa.

And Jesus answered and said, Suffer ye thus far. And he touched his ear, and healed him.

Mutta Jesus vastaten sanoi: sallikaat tähän asti tulla. Ja kuin hän rupesi hänen korvaansa, paransi hän sen.

Then Jesus said unto the chief priests, and captains of the temple, and the elders, which were come to him, Be ye come out, as against a thief, with swords and staves?

Mutta Jesus sanoi niille, jotka häntä vastaan olivat tulleet, ylimmäisille papeille ja templin haltioille ja vanhimmille: niinkuin ryövärin tykö te läksitte miekoilla ja seipäillä.

When I was daily with you in the temple, ye stretched forth no hands against me: but this is your hour, and the power of darkness.

Minä olin joka päivä teidän kanssanne templissä, ja ette ojentaneet kättä minun päälleni; mutta tämä on teidän hetkenne ja pimeyden valta.

Then took they him, and led him, and brought him into the high priest's house. And Peter followed afar off.

Niin he kiinni ottivat hänen ja taluttivat, ja veivät hänen sisälle ylimmäisen papin huoneesen. Mutta Pietari seurasi taampana.

And when they had kindled a fire in the midst of the hall, and were set down together, Peter sat down among them.

Ja niin he virittivät valkian keskelle kartanoa, ja ynnä yhdessä istuivat, istui myös Pietari heidän seassansa.

But a certain maid beheld him as he sat by the fire, and earnestly looked upon him, and said, This man was also with him.

Mutta kuin yksi piika näki hänen valkian tykönä istuvan, katsoi hän hänen päällensä, ja sanoi: tämä oli myös hänen kanssansa.

And he denied him, saying, Woman, I know him not.

Vaan hän kielsi hänen ja sanoi: vaimo, en minä tunne häntä.

And after a little while another saw him, and said, Thou art also of them. And Peter said, Man, I am not.

Ja vähän hetken perästä näki toinen hänen, ja sanoi: sinä myös olet yksi heistä. Pietari sanoi: ihminen, en ole.

And about the space of one hour after another confidently affirmed, saying, Of a truth this fellow also was with him: for he is a Galilæan.

Ja lähes yhden hetken perästä todisti myös toinen, sanoen: totisesti tämä oli myös hänen kanssansa; sillä hän on Galileasta.

And Peter said, Man, I know not what thou sayest. And immediately, while he yet spake, the cock crew.

Niin Pietari sanoi: ihminen, en minä tiedä, mitäs sanot. Ja kohta, vielä hänen puhuissansa, lauloi kukko.

And the Lord turned, and looked upon Peter. And Peter remembered the word of the Lord, how he had said unto him, Before the cock crow, thou shalt deny me thrice.

Ja Herra käänsi itsensä ja katsoi Pietarin päälle, ja Pietari muisti Herran puheen, kuin hän hänelle sanoi: ennenkuin kukko laulaa, kolmasti sinä minun kiellät.

And Peter went out, and wept bitterly.

Ja Pietari meni ulos ja itki katkerasti.

And the men that held Jesus mocked him, and smote him.

Mutta miehet, jotka Jesusta kiinni pitivät, pilkkasivat häntä ja löivät häntä,

And when they had blindfolded him, they struck him on the face, and asked him, saying, Prophesy, who is it that smote thee?

Peittivät hänen silmänsä, ja löivät häntä poskelle, ja kysyivät häneltä, sanoen: arvaa, kuka se on, joka sinua löi.

And many other things blasphemously spake they against him.

Ja paljon muuta pilkkaa sanoivat he häntä vastaan.

And as soon as it was day, the elders of the people and the chief priests and the scribes came together, and led him into their council, saying,

Ja kuin päivä tuli, kokoontuivat kansan vanhimmat ja ylimmäiset papit ja kirjanoppineet ja veivät hänen oikeutensa eteen,

Art thou the Christ? tell us. And he said unto them, If I tell you, ye will not believe:

Sanoen: oletkos Kristus? sano meille. Niin hän sanoi heille: jos minä sanon teille, ette usko,

And if I also ask you, ye will not answer me, nor let me go.

Ja jos minä myös kysyn, niin ette vastaa minua, ette myös päästä minua.

Hereafter shall the Son of man sit on the right hand of the power of God.

Tästedes istuu Ihmisen Poika Jumalan voiman oikialla kädellä.

Then said they all, Art thou then the Son of God? And he said unto them, Ye say that I am.

Niin he sanoivat kaikki: sinä olet siis Jumalan Poika? sanoi hän heille: tepä sen sanotte, että minä olen.

And they said, What need we any further witness? for we ourselves have heard of his own mouth.

Niin he sanoivat: mitä me silleen todistusta tarvitsemme, sillä me olemme sen kuulleet hänen omasta suustansa.
