Luke 19

And Jesus entered and passed through Jericho.

Ja hän meni sisälle ja vaelsi Jerikon lävitse.

And, behold, there was a man named Zacchæus, which was the chief among the publicans, and he was rich.

Ja katso, yksi mies oli nimeltä Zakeus, joka oli Publikanien päämies ja hän oli rikas,

And he sought to see Jesus who he was; and could not for the press, because he was little of stature.

Ja hän pyysi nähdä Jesusta, kuka hän olis, eikä saanut kansalta; sillä hän oli varttansa vähäinen.

And he ran before, and climbed up into a sycomore tree to see him: for he was to pass that way.

Ja hän samosi edelle, meni ylös yhteen metsä-fikunapuuhun, että hän olis saanut hänen nähdä; sillä sen kautta oli hän vaeltava.

And when Jesus came to the place, he looked up, and saw him, and said unto him, Zacchæus, make haste, and come down; for to day I must abide at thy house.

Ja kuin hän tuli siihen paikkaan, katsoi Jesus ylös, ja näki hänen, ja sanoi hänelle: Zakeus, astu nopiasti alas! sillä minun pitää tänäpänä oleman sinun huoneessas.

And he made haste, and came down, and received him joyfully.

Ja hän astui nopiasti alas ja otti hänen iloiten vastaan.

And when they saw it, they all murmured, saying, That he was gone to be guest with a man that is a sinner.

Ja kuin he sen näkivät, napisivat he kaikki, että hän meni sisälle syntisen miehen tykö olemaan.

And Zacchæus stood, and said unto the Lord; Behold, Lord, the half of my goods I give to the poor; and if I have taken any thing from any man by false accusation, I restore him fourfold.

Mutta Zakeus seisoi ja sanoi Herralle: katso, Herra, puolen minun tavaraani annan minä vaivaisille; ja jos minä jonkun pettänyt olen, sen minä neljäkertaisesti jälleen annan.

And Jesus said unto him, This day is salvation come to this house, forsomuch as he also is a son of Abraham.

Niin Jesus sanoi hänelle: tänäpänä on tälle huoneelle autuus tapahtunut, että hänkin on Abrahamin poika.

For the Son of man is come to seek and to save that which was lost.

Sillä Ihmisen Poika tuli etsimään ja vapahtamaan sitä, mikä kadonnut oli.

And as they heard these things, he added and spake a parable, because he was nigh to Jerusalem, and because they thought that the kingdom of God should immediately appear.

Mutta kuin he nämät kuulleet olivat, sanoi hän vielä yhden vertauksen: että hän oli juuri läsnä Jerusalemia, ja että he luulivat Jumalan valtakunnan kohta ilmoitettavan.

He said therefore, A certain nobleman went into a far country to receive for himself a kingdom, and to return.

Sanoi hän siis: yksi herrasmies matkusti kaukaiseen maakuntaan, itsellensä valtakuntaa ottamaan, ja aikoi jälleen palata:

And he called his ten servants, and delivered them ten pounds, and said unto them, Occupy till I come.

Niin hän kutsui tykönsä kymmenen palveliaansa ja antoi heille kymmenen leiviskää, ja sanoi heille: tehkäät kauppaa niinkauvan kuin minä tulen.

But his citizens hated him, and sent a message after him, saying, We will not have this man to reign over us.

Mutta hänen kylänsä asujat vihasivat häntä, ja lähettivät sanansaattajat hänen jälkeensä, sanoen: emme tahdo, että tämä meitä vallitsee.

And it came to pass, that when he was returned, having received the kingdom, then he commanded these servants to be called unto him, to whom he had given the money, that he might know how much every man had gained by trading.

Ja tapahtui kuin hän palasi, sitte kuin hän sai valtakunnan, käski hän kutsua ne palveliat tykönsä, joille hän oli rahansa antanut, tietääksensä, mitä kukin kaupallansa toimittanut oli.

Then came the first, saying, Lord, thy pound hath gained ten pounds.

Niin tuli ensimäinen ja sanoi: herra, sinun leiviskäs on kymmenen leiviskää kasvattanut.

And he said unto him, Well, thou good servant: because thou hast been faithful in a very little, have thou authority over ten cities.

Ja hän sanoi hänelle: oikein, hyvä palvelia, ettäs vähässä olit uskollinen, sinulla pitää valta kymmenen kaupungin päälle oleman.

And the second came, saying, Lord, thy pound hath gained five pounds.

Toinen myös tuli ja sanoi: herra, sinun leiviskäs on viisi leiviskää kasvattanut.

And he said likewise to him, Be thou also over five cities.

Niin hän myös sanoi hänelle: ole sinäkin viiden kaupungin haltia.

And another came, saying, Lord, behold, here is thy pound, which I have kept laid up in a napkin:

Ja kolmas tuli ja sanoi: herra, katso, tässä on sinun leiviskäs, joka minulla hikiliinassa kätketty oli;

For I feared thee, because thou art an austere man: thou takest up that thou layedst not down, and reapest that thou didst not sow.

Sillä minä pelkäsin sinua, ettäs kova mies olet; sinä otat, jota et tallelle pannut, ja niität, jota et kylvänyt.

And he saith unto him, Out of thine own mouth will I judge thee, thou wicked servant. Thou knewest that I was an austere man, taking up that I laid not down, and reaping that I did not sow:

Hän sanoi hänelle: sinun suustas minä sinun tuomitsen, sinä paha palvelia, sinä tiesit minun kovaksi mieheksi, joka otan, jota en minä tallelle pannut, ja leikkaan, jota en minä kylvänyt:

Wherefore then gavest not thou my money into the bank, that at my coming I might have required mine own with usury?

Ja miksi et sinä antanut minun rahaani vaihetuspöydälle? ja minä olisin tultuani sen kasvun kanssa jälleen saanut.

And he said unto them that stood by, Take from him the pound, and give it to him that hath ten pounds.

Niin hän sanoi tykönä seisoville: ottakaat pois leiviskä häneltä, ja antakaat sille, jolla kymmenen leiviskää on.

(And they said unto him, Lord, he hath ten pounds.)

Niin he sanoivat hänelle: herra, hänellä on kymmenen leiviskää.

For I say unto you, That unto every one which hath shall be given; and from him that hath not, even that he hath shall be taken away from him.

Sillä minä sanon teille, jolla on, hänelle pitää annettaman, ja häneltä, jolla ei ole, sekin, mikä hänellä on, pitää otettaman pois.

But those mine enemies, which would not that I should reign over them, bring hither, and slay them before me.

Kuitenkin ne minun viholliseni, jotka ei tahtoneet minun antaa vallita heitä, tuokaat tänne ja mestatkaa heitä minun edessäni.

And when he had thus spoken, he went before, ascending up to Jerusalem.

Ja kuin hän nämät puhunut oli, meni hän edellä ja vaelsi ylös Jerusalemia päin.

And it came to pass, when he was come nigh to Bethphage and Bethany, at the mount called the mount of Olives, he sent two of his disciples,

Ja tapahtui, kuin hän lähestyi Betphagea ja Betaniaa, ja tuli sen vuoren tykö, joka öljymäeksi kutsutaan kutsutaan, lähetti hän kaksi opetuslapsistansa,

Saying, Go ye into the village over against you; in the which at your entering ye shall find a colt tied, whereon yet never man sat: loose him, and bring him hither.

Sanoen: menkäät kylään, joka on teidän edessänne, ja kuin te siihen tulette sisälle, niin te löydätte varsan sidottuna, jonka päällä ei yksikään ihminen koskaan istunut ole: päästäkäät se ja tuokaat tänne.

And if any man ask you, Why do ye loose him? thus shall ye say unto him, Because the Lord hath need of him.

Ja jos joku teiltä kysyy: miksi te sitä päästätte? niin sanokaat hänelle: Herra tätä tarvitsee.

And they that were sent went their way, and found even as he had said unto them.

Niin lähetetyt menivät ja löysivät niinkuin hän oli heille sanonut.

And as they were loosing the colt, the owners thereof said unto them, Why loose ye the colt?

Kuin he nyt päästivät varsaa, sanoi sen isäntä heille: miksi te päästätte varsaa?

And they said, The Lord hath need of him.

Vaan he sanoivat: Herra tätä tarvitsee.

And they brought him to Jesus: and they cast their garments upon the colt, and they set Jesus thereon.

Ja he veivät sen Jesuksen tykö, ja panivat vaatteensa varsan päälle, ja istuttivat Jesuksen se päälle.

And as he went, they spread their clothes in the way.

Ja kuin hän matkusti, levittivät he vaatteensa tielle.

And when he was come nigh, even now at the descent of the mount of Olives, the whole multitude of the disciples began to rejoice and praise God with a loud voice for all the mighty works that they had seen;

Ja kuin hän jo lähestyi menemään alas Öljymäeltä, rupesi koko opetuslasten joukko iloiten kiittämään Jumalaa suurella äänellä kaikistä niistä voimallisista töistä, jotka he nähneet olivat,

Saying, Blessed be the King that cometh in the name of the Lord: peace in heaven, and glory in the highest.

Sanoen: siunattu olkoon se, joka tulee, kuningas Herran nimeen! rauha taivaassa ja kunnia korkeuksissa!

And some of the Pharisees from among the multitude said unto him, Master, rebuke thy disciples.

Ja muutamat Pharisealaisista kansan seasta sanoivat hänelle: Mestari, nuhtele opetuslapsias.

And he answered and said unto them, I tell you that, if these should hold their peace, the stones would immediately cry out.

Ja hän vastaten sanoi heille: minä sanon teille: jos nämät vaikenevat, niin kivet pitää huutaman.

And when he was come near, he beheld the city, and wept over it,

Ja kuin hän lähemmä tuli, katsoi hän kaupungin päälle, itki häntä,

Saying, If thou hadst known, even thou, at least in this thy day, the things which belong unto thy peace! but now they are hid from thine eyes.

Ja sanoi: jos sinäkin tietäisit, niin sinä ajattelisit tosin tällä sinun ajallas, mitä sinun rauhaas sopis. Mutta nyt ovat ne kätketyt sinun silmäis edestä.

For the days shall come upon thee, that thine enemies shall cast a trench about thee, and compass thee round, and keep thee in on every side,

Sillä ne päivät pitää tuleman sinun ylitses, että sinun vihollises skantsaavat sinun, ja ympäri piirittävät sinun, ja ahdistavat sinun joka kulmalta,

And shall lay thee even with the ground, and thy children within thee; and they shall not leave in thee one stone upon another; because thou knewest not the time of thy visitation.

Ja maahan tasoittavat sinun ja sinun lapses, jotka sinussa ovat, ja ei jätä sinussa kiveä kiven päälle; ettet etsikkos aikaa tuntenut.

And he went into the temple, and began to cast out them that sold therein, and them that bought;

Ja hän meni sisälle templiin, rupesi ajamaan siitä ulos ostajia ja myyjiä,

Saying unto them, It is written, My house is the house of prayer: but ye have made it a den of thieves.

Sanoen heille: kirjoitettu on: minun huoneeni on rukoushuone; mutta te olette sen tehneet ryövärien luolaksi.

And he taught daily in the temple. But the chief priests and the scribes and the chief of the people sought to destroy him,

Ja hän opetti joka päivä templissä, mutta pappein päämiehet ja kirjanoppineet ja kansan vanhimmat etsivät häntä surmataksensa,

And could not find what they might do: for all the people were very attentive to hear him.

Ja ei tietäneet, mitä heidän piti tekemän; sillä kaikki kansa riippui hänessä, ja kuulivat häntä.
