I Timothy 4

Now the Spirit speaketh expressly, that in the latter times some shall depart from the faith, giving heed to seducing spirits, and doctrines of devils;

Mutta Henki sanoo selkiästi, että viimeisillä ajoilla muutamat luopuvat uskosta ja ottavat vaarin viettelevistä hengistä ja perkeleiden opetuksista,

Speaking lies in hypocrisy; having their conscience seared with a hot iron;

Niiden kautta, jotka ulkokullaisuudessa valheenpuhujat ovat, joiden omatunto on poltinraudalla merkitty,

Forbidding to marry, and commanding to abstain from meats, which God hath created to be received with thanksgiving of them which believe and know the truth.

Ja kieltävät naimasta ja ottamasta ruokaa, jonka Jumala loi uskollisille kiitoksella nautittavaksi ja niille, jotka totuuden ymmärtäneet ovat.

For every creature of God is good, and nothing to be refused, if it be received with thanksgiving:

Sillä kaikki, mitä Jumala luonut on, on hyvää, ja ei ole mitään hyljättävää, kuin se kiitoksella nautitaan.

For it is sanctified by the word of God and prayer.

Sillä se Jumalan sanalla ja rukouksella pyhitetään.

If thou put the brethren in remembrance of these things, thou shalt be a good minister of Jesus Christ, nourished up in the words of faith and of good doctrine, whereunto thou hast attained.

Kuin nyt senkaltaista veljille opetat, niin sinä Jesuksen Kristuksen uskollinen palvelia olet, uskon sanoissa, hyvässä opissa kasvatettu, jotka sinä seurannut olet.

But refuse profane and old wives' fables, and exercise thyself rather unto godliness.

Mutta vältä kelvottomia ämmän juttuja, ja harjoita sinuas jumalisuuteen.

For bodily exercise profiteth little: but godliness is profitable unto all things, having promise of the life that now is, and of that which is to come.

Sillä ruumiillinen harjoitus vähän kelpaa; mutta jumalisuus on tarpeellinen kaikissa asioissa, jolla on sekä nykyisen että tulevaisen elämän lupaus.

This is a faithful saying and worthy of all acceptation.

Tämä on totinen sana, ja kaiketi mahdollinen ottaa vastaan;

For therefore we both labour and suffer reproach, because we trust in the living God, who is the Saviour of all men, specially of those that believe.

Sillä sitä vasten me työtäkin teemme ja meitä pilkataan, että me elävän Jumalan päälle toivoneet olemme, joka kaikkein ihmisten vapahtaja on, erinomattain uskovaisten.

These things command and teach.

Näitä sinä neuvo ja opeta.

Let no man despise thy youth; but be thou an example of the believers, in word, in conversation, in charity, in spirit, in faith, in purity.

Älköön kenkään sinun nuoruuttas katsoko ylön, vaan ole sinä uskovaisille esikuva sanassa, kanssakäymisessä, rakkaudessa, hengessä, uskossa, puhtaudessa.

Till I come, give attendance to reading, to exhortation, to doctrine.

Ota lukemisesta, neuvosta ja opista vaari, siihenasti kuin minä tulen.

Neglect not the gift that is in thee, which was given thee by prophecy, with the laying on of the hands of the presbytery.

Älä unohda sitä lahjaa, joka sinulle prophetian kautta annettu on, vanhimpain kätten päällepanemisessa.

Meditate upon these things; give thyself wholly to them; that thy profiting may appear to all.

Ota näistä vaari, pysy näissä, että sinun menestykses kaikille julistetuksi tulis.

Take heed unto thyself, and unto the doctrine; continue in them: for in doing this thou shalt both save thyself, and them that hear thee.

Ota itsestäs vaari ja opista, pysy alati näissä; sillä jos sinä sen teet, niin sinä itses autuaaksi saatat ja ne, jotka sinua kuulevat.
