Psalms 79

O God, the heathen are come into thine inheritance; thy holy temple have they defiled; they have laid Jerusalem on heaps.

خدایا، امّتها به سرزمین تو داخل شده، معبد مقدّس تو را بی‌حرمت ساخته و اورشلیم را به ویرانه‌ای تبدیل نمودند.

The dead bodies of thy servants have they given to be meat unto the fowls of the heaven, the flesh of thy saints unto the beasts of the earth.

جنازه‌های بندگان تو را خوراک مرغان هوا ساختند و گوشت بدن خادمان تو را به حیوانات وحشی دادند.

Their blood have they shed like water round about Jerusalem; and there was none to bury them.

خونشان را مانند آب در اطراف اورشلیم پاشیدند و کسی باقی نماند که آنها را به خاک بسپارد.

We are become a reproach to our neighbours, a scorn and derision to them that are round about us.

در مقابل همسایگان خود، خوار و ذلیل گشته‏‌ایم و آنها ما را مسخره می‌کنند.

How long, LORD? wilt thou be angry for ever? shall thy jealousy burn like fire?

خداوندا، آیا برای همیشه با ما خشمگین خواهی بود؟ آیا خشم تو ما را همچون آتش خواهد سوزانید؟

Pour out thy wrath upon the heathen that have not known thee, and upon the kingdoms that have not called upon thy name.

خشم خود را بر سر ملّتهایی که تو را نمی‌شناسند و مردمی که تو را نمی‌پرستند بریز.

For they have devoured Jacob, and laid waste his dwelling place.

چون آنها بودند که قوم تو را کشتند و سرزمین تو را ویران کردند.

O remember not against us former iniquities: let thy tender mercies speedily prevent us: for we are brought very low.

ما را به‌خاطر گناهان اجدادمان مجازات نکن. اینک بر ما رحم کن، زیرا که ما امید خود را از دست داده‌ایم.

Help us, O God of our salvation, for the glory of thy name: and deliver us, and purge away our sins, for thy name's sake.

خدایا، به‌خاطر حرمت نام خود، ما را کمک کن، ما را نجات بده و گناهان ما را بیامرز.

Wherefore should the heathen say, Where is their God? let him be known among the heathen in our sight by the revenging of the blood of thy servants which is shed.

چرا باید قومهای خدا نشناس از ما بپرسند: «خدای شما کجاست؟» بگذار وقتی‌که تو قومها را به‌خاطر ریختن خون بندگانت مجازات می‌کنی، ما به چشم خود ببینیم.

Let the sighing of the prisoner come before thee; according to the greatness of thy power preserve thou those that are appointed to die;

به نالهٔ زندانیان گوش بده و با قدرت خود آنهایی را که محکوم به مرگ هستند، آزاد کن.

And render unto our neighbours sevenfold into their bosom their reproach, wherewith they have reproached thee, O Lord.

کسانی که تو را بی‌حرمت می‌کنند، هفت برابر مجازات کن.

So we thy people and sheep of thy pasture will give thee thanks for ever: we will shew forth thy praise to all generations.

آنگاه ما که قوم تو و گوسفندان چراگاه تو هستیم همیشه سپاسگزار تو خواهیم بود و تا ابد تو را پرستش خواهیم نمود.
