Luke 21

And he looked up, and saw the rich men casting their gifts into the treasury.

عیسی به اطراف نگاهی كرد و ملاحظه فرمود كه دولتمندان هدایای خود را به صندوق بیت‌المال معبد بزرگ می‌ریزند.

And he saw also a certain poor widow casting in thither two mites.

همچنین متوجّه بیوه‌زن بسیار فقیری شد كه دو ریال به داخل آن انداخت.

And he said, Of a truth I say unto you, that this poor widow hath cast in more than they all:

عیسی فرمود: «بدانید كه در واقع این بیوه‌زن فقیر بیش از همه پول داده است

For all these have of their abundance cast in unto the offerings of God: but she of her penury hath cast in all the living that she had.

چون آنان از آنچه زیادی داشتند دادند، امّا او با وجود تنگدستی، تمام خرج معاش خود را داده است.»

And as some spake of the temple, how it was adorned with goodly stones and gifts, he said,

عدّه‌ای دربارهٔ معبد بزرگ گفت‌وگو می‌كردند واز سنگ‌های زیبا و هدایایی كه با آنها تزئین شده بود تعریف می‌کردند. عیسی فرمود:

As for these things which ye behold, the days will come, in the which there shall not be left one stone upon another, that shall not be thrown down.

«و امّا دربارهٔ این چیزهایی كه به آنها خیره شده‌اید، زمانی خواهد آمد كه هیچ‌یک از سنگهای آن روی سنگ دیگری نخواهد ماند، همه زیر و رو خواهند شد.»

And they asked him, saying, Master, but when shall these things be? and what sign will there be when these things shall come to pass?

آنها پرسیدند: «ای استاد، این اتّفاق كی خواهد افتاد و علامت نزدیک بودن وقوع این امور چه خواهد بود؟»

And he said, Take heed that ye be not deceived: for many shall come in my name, saying, I am Christ; and the time draweth near: go ye not therefore after them.

عیسی فرمود: «مواظب باشید كه گمراه نشوید، بسیاری به نام من خواهند آمد و خواهند گفت: 'من او هستم' و 'آن زمان موعود رسیده است.' با آنان همراه نشوید.

But when ye shall hear of wars and commotions, be not terrified: for these things must first come to pass; but the end is not by and by.

وقتی دربارهٔ جنگها و اغتشاشات چیزی می‌شنوید نترسید. این چیزها باید اول اتّفاق بیفتد امّا آخر كار به این زودی‌ها نمی‌رسد.»

Then said he unto them, Nation shall rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom:

و افزود: «ملّتی با ملّت دیگر و مملكتی با مملكت دیگر جنگ خواهد كرد.

And great earthquakes shall be in divers places, and famines, and pestilences; and fearful sights and great signs shall there be from heaven.

زمین لرزه‌های سخت پدید می‌آید و در بسیاری از نقاط خشکسالی و بلاها و در آسمان، علامتهای وحشت‌آور و شگفتی‌های بزرگ دیده خواهد شد.

But before all these, they shall lay their hands on you, and persecute you, delivering you up to the synagogues, and into prisons, being brought before kings and rulers for my name's sake.

امّا قبل از وقوع این‌همه شما را دستگیر خواهند كرد و به شما آزار خواهند رسانید. شما را برای محاكمه به كنیسه‌ها خواهند كشانید و به زندان خواهند انداخت. شما را به‌خاطر اینکه نام من بر شماست پیش پادشاهان و فرمانروایان خواهند برد

And it shall turn to you for a testimony.

و این فرصتی برای شهادت دادن شما خواهد بود.

Settle it therefore in your hearts, not to meditate before what ye shall answer:

لازم نیست كه جوابهای خود را قبلاً حاضر كنید

For I will give you a mouth and wisdom, which all your adversaries shall not be able to gainsay nor resist.

چون خود من به شما قدرت بیان و حكمتی می‌دهم كه هیچ‌یک از مدّعیان، قدرت مقاومت و تكذیب را نداشته باشند.

And ye shall be betrayed both by parents, and brethren, and kinsfolks, and friends; and some of you shall they cause to be put to death.

حتّی والدین و برادران و خویشاوندان و دوستانتان شما را به ‌دام خواهند انداخت. آنها عدّه‌ای از شما را خواهند كشت

And ye shall be hated of all men for my name's sake.

و به‌خاطر نام من كه برخود دارید همه از شما روی‌گردان خواهند شد.

But there shall not an hair of your head perish.

امّا مویی از سر شما كم نخواهد شد.

In your patience possess ye your souls.

با پایداری، جان‌هایتان را رهایی خواهید داد.

And when ye shall see Jerusalem compassed with armies, then know that the desolation thereof is nigh.

«امّا هروقت اورشلیم را در محاصرهٔ لشكرها می‌بینید بدانید كه ویرانی آن نزدیک است.

Then let them which are in Judæa flee to the mountains; and let them which are in the midst of it depart out; and let not them that are in the countries enter thereinto.

در آن موقع کسانی‌که در یهودیه هستند باید به كوهستان‌ها بگریزند و آنانی كه در خود شهر هستند باید آن را ترک كنند و کسانی‌که در حومهٔ شهر هستند نباید وارد شهر شوند.

For these be the days of vengeance, that all things which are written may be fulfilled.

چون این است آن زمان مكافات، در آن زمان كه تمام نوشته‌های کتاب‌مقدّس به حقیقت خواهد پیوست.

But woe unto them that are with child, and to them that give suck, in those days! for there shall be great distress in the land, and wrath upon this people.

وای به ‌حال زنانی كه در آن روزها باردار یا شیرده هستند، چون پریشان‌حالی شدیدی در این زمین رخ خواهد داد و این قوم مورد خشم و غضب الهی واقع خواهد شد.

And they shall fall by the edge of the sword, and shall be led away captive into all nations: and Jerusalem shall be trodden down of the Gentiles, until the times of the Gentiles be fulfilled.

آنان به دَم شمشیر خواهند افتاد و به اسارت به تمام كشورها خواهند رفت و اورشلیم تا آن زمان كه دوران ملل بیگانه به پایان نرسد پایمال آنان خواهد بود.

And there shall be signs in the sun, and in the moon, and in the stars; and upon the earth distress of nations, with perplexity; the sea and the waves roaring;

«در خورشید و ماه و ستارگان علامتها ظاهر خواهد شد. در روی زمین ملّتها از غرّش دریا و خروش امواج آن پریشان و نگران خواهند شد.

Men's hearts failing them for fear, and for looking after those things which are coming on the earth: for the powers of heaven shall be shaken.

آدمیان از وحشت تصوّر آنچه بر سر دنیا خواهد آمد، از هوش خواهند رفت و قدرت‌های آسمانی به لرزه خواهند افتاد.

And then shall they see the Son of man coming in a cloud with power and great glory.

آن وقت پسر انسان را خواهند دید كه با قدرت و جلال عظیم بر ابری می‌آید.

And when these things begin to come to pass, then look up, and lift up your heads; for your redemption draweth nigh.

وقتی این چیزها شروع شود شما راست بایستید و سرهایتان را راست نگاه ‌دارید چون رستگاری شما نزدیک است.»

And he spake to them a parable; Behold the fig tree, and all the trees;

عیسی برای آنان این مَثَل را آورده، گفت: «به درخت انجیر و یا درختهای دیگر نگاه كنید:

When they now shoot forth, ye see and know of your own selves that summer is now nigh at hand.

به محض اینکه می‌بینید جوانه می‌زند می‌دانید كه تابستان نزدیک است.

So likewise ye, when ye see these things come to pass, know ye that the kingdom of God is nigh at hand.

به همان‌طریق وقتی‌که وقوع همهٔ این چیزها را ببینید مطمئن باشید كه پادشاهی خدا نزدیک است،

Verily I say unto you, This generation shall not pass away, till all be fulfilled.

یقین بدانید كه پیش از درگذشت نسل حاضر همهٔ اینها رُخ خواهد داد.

Heaven and earth shall pass away: but my words shall not pass away.

آسمان و زمین از بین خواهد رفت امّا سخنان من هرگز از بین نخواهد رفت.

And take heed to yourselves, lest at any time your hearts be overcharged with surfeiting, and drunkenness, and cares of this life, and so that day come upon you unawares.

«مراقب باشید و نگذارید دلهای شما با پرخوری و مستی و اندیشه‌های دنیوی تیره و تار شود، چون آن روز بزرگ ناگهان فرا می‌رسد.

For as a snare shall it come on all them that dwell on the face of the whole earth.

آن روز مانند دامی بر سر همهٔ آدمیان در سراسر دنیا خواهد افتاد.

Watch ye therefore, and pray always, that ye may be accounted worthy to escape all these things that shall come to pass, and to stand before the Son of man.

پس گوش به زنگ باشید و در تمام اوقات دعا كنید تا قدرت آن را داشته باشید كه همهٔ رنجهایی را كه بزودی پیش می‌آید پشت سر بگذارید و در حضور پسر انسان بایستید.»

And in the day time he was teaching in the temple; and at night he went out, and abode in the mount that is called the mount of Olives.

عیسی روزها را به تعلیم در معبد بزرگ اختصاص داده بود و شبها از شهر خارج می‌شد و شب را در كوه زیتون به صبح می‌آورد

And all the people came early in the morning to him in the temple, for to hear him.

و صبحگاهان مردم برای شنیدن سخنان او در معبد بزرگ اجتماع می‌كردند.
