Leviticus 12

And the LORD spake unto Moses, saying,

خداوند به موسی فرمود که این دستورات را به قوم اسرائیل بدهد:

Speak unto the children of Israel, saying, If a woman have conceived seed, and born a man child: then she shall be unclean seven days; according to the days of the separation for her infirmity shall she be unclean.

وقتی زنی پسری بزاید، آن زن مدّت هفت روز ناپاک خواهد بود، همان‌گونه که در هنگام عادت ماهانهٔ خود ناپاک می‌باشد.

And in the eighth day the flesh of his foreskin shall be circumcised.

در روز هشتم طفل باید ختنه شود.

And she shall then continue in the blood of her purifying three and thirty days; she shall touch no hallowed thing, nor come into the sanctuary, until the days of her purifying be fulfilled.

آن زن باید مدّت سی و سه روز صبر کند تا از خونریزی خود به صورت کامل پاک گردد. و تا آن زمان نباید به چیزهایی که مقدّس می‌باشند، دست بزند و یا به خیمهٔ مقدّس داخل شود.

But if she bear a maid child, then she shall be unclean two weeks, as in her separation: and she shall continue in the blood of her purifying threescore and six days.

اگر فرزندش دختر باشد، آن زن تا دو هفته ناپاک خواهد بود، همان‌گونه که در هنگام عادت ماهانه خود ناپاک است. او باید مدّت شصت و شش روز صبر کند تا از خونریزی خود بکلّی پاک شود.

And when the days of her purifying are fulfilled, for a son, or for a daughter, she shall bring a lamb of the first year for a burnt offering, and a young pigeon, or a turtledove, for a sin offering, unto the door of the tabernacle of the congregation, unto the priest:

هنگامی‌که زمان طهارت او تمام شد، چه پسر زائیده باشد چه دختر، او باید یک برّه یک ساله را برای قربانی سوختنی و یک کبوتر یا یک قمری را به عنوان قربانی گناه به جلوی دروازهٔ خیمهٔ مقدّس پیش کاهن ببرد

Who shall offer it before the LORD, and make an atonement for her; and she shall be cleansed from the issue of her blood. This is the law for her that hath born a male or a female.

تا او آن را به حضور خداوند تقدیم کند و برایش کفّاره نماید. آن وقت از خونریزی زایمان پاک می‌شود. هر زنی که از زایمان فارغ شده است، باید از این مقرّرات پیروی کند.

And if she be not able to bring a lamb, then she shall bring two turtles, or two young pigeons; the one for the burnt offering, and the other for a sin offering: and the priest shall make an atonement for her, and she shall be clean.

اگر آن زن تهی‌دست باشد و نتواند که برّه را قربانی کند، در عوض باید دو کبوتر یا دو قمری، یکی را برای قربانی سوختنی و دیگری را جهت قربانی گناه ببرد. کاهن باید با تقدیم این قربانی‌ها برای او کفّاره کند و به این ترتیب زن دوباره پاک می‌شود.
