Acts 1

The former treatise have I made, O Theophilus, of all that Jesus began both to do and teach,

تئوفیلوس عزیزم، من در اولین نامهٔ خود دربارهٔ تمام کارها و تعالیم عیسی از ابتدا

Until the day in which he was taken up, after that he through the Holy Ghost had given commandments unto the apostles whom he had chosen:

تا روزی ‌كه به وسیلهٔ روح‌القدس دستورات لازم را به رسولان برگزیدهٔ خود داد و به آسمان برده شد به تو نوشتم:

To whom also he shewed himself alive after his passion by many infallible proofs, being seen of them forty days, and speaking of the things pertaining to the kingdom of God:

او پس از مرگ، با دلایل بسیار، خود را زنده، به این افراد نشان داد و مدّت چهل روز بارها به ایشان ظاهر شد و دربارهٔ پادشاهی خدا با آنها گفت‌وگو كرد.

And, being assembled together with them, commanded them that they should not depart from Jerusalem, but wait for the promise of the Father, which, saith he, ye have heard of me.

وقتی او هنوز در بین آنان بود به ایشان گفت: «اورشلیم را ترک نكنید بلكه در انتظار آن وعدهٔ پدر، كه در خصوص آن به شما گفته بودم، باشید.

For John truly baptized with water; but ye shall be baptized with the Holy Ghost not many days hence.

یحیی با آب تعمید می‌داد، امّا بعد از چند روز شما با روح‌القدس تعمید خواهید یافت.»

When they therefore were come together, they asked of him, saying, Lord, wilt thou at this time restore again the kingdom to Israel?

پس هنگامی‌كه همه دور هم جمع بودند از او پرسیدند: «خداوندا، آیا وقت آن رسیده است كه تو بار دیگر سلطنت را به اسرائیل بازگردانی؟»

And he said unto them, It is not for you to know the times or the seasons, which the Father hath put in his own power.

عیسی پاسخ داد «برای شما لزومی ندارد، كه تاریخها و زمانهایی را كه پدر در اختیار خود نگه داشته است، بدانید.

But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judæa, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth.

امّا وقتی روح‌القدس بر شما نازل شود قدرت خواهید یافت و در اورشلیم و تمام یهودیه و سامره و تا دورافتاده‌ترین نقاط عالم شاهدان من خواهید بود.»

And when he had spoken these things, while they beheld, he was taken up; and a cloud received him out of their sight.

همین‌كه عیسی این را گفت، در حالی‌كه همه نگاه می‌کردند، بالا برده شد و ابری او را از نظر ایشان ناپدید ساخت.

And while they looked stedfastly toward heaven as he went up, behold, two men stood by them in white apparel;

هنگامی‌كه او می‌رفت و چشمان آنان هنوز به آسمان دوخته شده بود، دو مرد سفیدپوش در كنار آنان ایستادند

Which also said, Ye men of Galilee, why stand ye gazing up into heaven? this same Jesus, which is taken up from you into heaven, shall so come in like manner as ye have seen him go into heaven.

و پرسیدند: «ای مردان جلیلی، چرا اینجا ایستاده‌اید و به آسمان نگاه می‌کنید؟ همین عیسی كه از پیش شما به آسمان بالا برده شد، همان طوری که بالا رفت و شما دیدید، دوباره به همین طریق باز خواهد گشت.»

Then returned they unto Jerusalem from the mount called Olivet, which is from Jerusalem a sabbath day's journey.

آنگاه رسولان از كوه زیتون، كه فاصلهٔ آن تا اورشلیم فقط یک كیلومتر است، به اورشلیم بازگشتند.

And when they were come in, they went up into an upper room, where abode both Peter, and James, and John, and Andrew, Philip, and Thomas, Bartholomew, and Matthew, James the son of Alphaeus, and Simon Zelotes, and Judas the brother of James.

به محض اینكه به شهر وارد شدند، به بالا‌خانه‌ای كه محل اقامت آنان بود رفتند. پطرس و یوحنا، یعقوب و اندریاس، فیلیپُس و توما، برتولما و متّی، یعقوب فرزند حلفی و شمعون فدایی و یهودا فرزند یعقوب در آنجا بودند.

These all continued with one accord in prayer and supplication, with the women, and Mary the mother of Jesus, and with his brethren.

اینان همه با زنها و مریم مادر عیسی و برادران او دور هم جمع می‌شدند تا وقت خود را صرف دعا نمایند.

And in those days Peter stood up in the midst of the disciples, and said, (the number of names together were about an hundred and twenty,)

در آن روزها پطرس در برابر ایمانداران كه عدّهٔ آنان روی هم یكصد و بیست نفر بود ایستاد و گفت:

Men and brethren, this scripture must needs have been fulfilled, which the Holy Ghost by the mouth of David spake before concerning Judas, which was guide to them that took Jesus.

«ای دوستان، لازم بود پیشگویی كتاب‌مقدّس دربارهٔ یهودا، راهنمای دستگیر کنندگان عیسی، كه روح‌القدس به زبان داوود نموده بود، به حقیقت بپیوندد،

For he was numbered with us, and had obtained part of this ministry.

زیرا او یكی از ما بود و در مأموریت ما شركت داشت.

Now this man purchased a field with the reward of iniquity; and falling headlong, he burst asunder in the midst, and all his bowels gushed out.

او با پولی كه از بابت اجرت شرارت خود دریافت نمود، قطعه زمینی خرید و در آن با سر سقوط كرد و از میان پاره شد و تمام روده‌هایش بیرون ریخت

And it was known unto all the dwellers at Jerusalem; insomuch as that field is called in their proper tongue, Aceldama, that is to say, The field of blood.

و این امر به اطّلاع جمیع ساكنان اورشلیم رسید و آن قطعه زمین را به زبان خودشان 'حقل دما' یعنی 'مزرعهٔ خونین' نامیدند.»

For it is written in the book of Psalms, Let his habitation be desolate, and let no man dwell therein: and his bishoprick let another take.

پطرس ادامه داد و گفت: «زیرا در كتاب زبور نوشته شده است: 'مسكن او ویران باد و دیگر كسی در آن ساكن نشود.' و همچنین آمده است: 'مأموریتش نیز به دیگری سپرده شود.'

Wherefore of these men which have companied with us all the time that the Lord Jesus went in and out among us,

«بنابراین یک نفر كه پیوسته در تمام مدّتی كه عیسی خداوند با ما رفت و آمد داشت،

Beginning from the baptism of John, unto that same day that he was taken up from us, must one be ordained to be a witness with us of his resurrection.

یعنی از روزی كه یحیی به تعمید پرداخت تا روزی كه عیسی از میان ما بالا برده شد، در جرگهٔ ما بوده است باید به عنوان گواه بر رستاخیز او به جمع ما بپیوندد»

And they appointed two, Joseph called Barsabas, who was surnamed Justus, and Matthias.

آنگاه نام دو نفر را كه یكی یوسف معروف به برسابا (كه لقب یوستس هم داشت) و دیگری متیاس بود، برای این خدمت پیشنهاد كردند

And they prayed, and said, Thou, Lord, which knowest the hearts of all men, shew whether of these two thou hast chosen,

و دعا كرده گفتند: «ای خداوندی كه از قلوب همهٔ انسانها آگاهی، به ما نشان بده كه کدام‌یک از این دو نفر را انتخاب کرده‌ای

That he may take part of this ministry and apostleship, from which Judas by transgression fell, that he might go to his own place.

كه جانشین یهودا بشود؛ زیرا كه او سمت خدمت و رسالت خود را از دست داد تا به جایی‌که سرنوشت او بود برود.»

And they gave forth their lots; and the lot fell upon Matthias; and he was numbered with the eleven apostles.

پس قرعه انداختند و قرعه به نام متیاس درآمد و به این ترتیب او در شمار آن یازده رسول درآمد.
