II Samuel 8

And after this it came to pass, that David smote the Philistines, and subdued them: and David took Metheg–ammah out of the hand of the Philistines.

بعد از آن داوود دوباره به فلسطینیان حمله کرد و سرزمین آنها را به تصرّف خود در آورد.

And he smote Moab, and measured them with a line, casting them down to the ground; even with two lines measured he to put to death, and with one full line to keep alive. And so the Moabites became David's servants, and brought gifts.

سپس مردم موآب را شکست داد و اسیران را روی زمین خواباند و از هر سه نفر دو نفر آنها را کشت و بقیّه را زنده گذاشت، تا او را خدمت کنند و باج بدهند.

David smote also Hadadezer, the son of Rehob, king of Zobah, as he went to recover his border at the river Euphrates.

داوود همچنین پادشاه صوبه، هددعزر پسر رحوب را در جنگ کنار رود فرات مغلوب کرد. هددعزر برای به دست آوردن قدرت از دست رفتهٔ خود به آنجا آمده بود.

And David took from him a thousand chariots, and seven hundred horsemen, and twenty thousand footmen: and David houghed all the chariot horses, but reserved of them for an hundred chariots.

داوود یک‌هزار و هفتصد سوار و بیست هزار نفر پیادهٔ او را اسیر گرفت. بعد پاهای همهٔ اسبهای ارّابه‌های او را لنگ کرد و فقط یکصد اسب او را برای استفادهٔ خود نگه داشت.

And when the Syrians of Damascus came to succour Hadadezer king of Zobah, David slew of the Syrians two and twenty thousand men.

وقتی سوریان دمشق به کمک هددعزر آمدند، داوود بیست و دو هزار نفر سوری را کشت.

Then David put garrisons in Syria of Damascus: and the Syrians became servants to David, and brought gifts. And the LORD preserved David whithersoever he went.

بعد داوود چند گروه از افراد نظامی را در دمشق گماشت و سوریان تابع داوود شدند و به او باج می‌دادند. داوود به هر جایی که می‌رفت خداوند او را پیروز می‌ساخت.

And David took the shields of gold that were on the servants of Hadadezer, and brought them to Jerusalem.

سپرهای طلایی را که از سربازان هددعزر گرفته بود همه را به اورشلیم آورد.

And from Betah, and from Berothai, cities of Hadadezer, king David took exceeding much brass.

او همچنین مقدار زیادی اسباب برنزی از باته و بیروتای، دو شهر هددعزر، به اورشلیم برد.

When Toi king of Hamath heard that David had smitten all the host of Hadadezer,

وقتی توعی، پادشاه حمات شنید که داوود تمام لشکر هددعزر را شکست داده است،

Then Toi sent Joram his son unto king David, to salute him, and to bless him, because he had fought against Hadadezer, and smitten him: for Hadadezer had wars with Toi. And Joram brought with him vessels of silver, and vessels of gold, and vessels of brass:

پسر خود، یورام را به حضور داوود فرستاد تا سلام او را به داوود برساند و به‌خاطر پیروزی بر هددعزر، به او تبریک بگوید، زیرا هددعزر همیشه با توعی در جنگ بود. یورام همچنین ظروف نقره و طلا و برنزی برای داوود برد.

Which also king David did dedicate unto the LORD, with the silver and gold that he had dedicated of all nations which he subdued;

داوود پادشاه همهٔ این هدایا را با تمام نقره و طلایی که از اَدوم، موآب، عمون، فلسطین، عمالقه و هددعزر به غنیمت گرفته بود، وقف خداوند کرد.

Of Syria, and of Moab, and of the children of Ammon, and of the Philistines, and of Amalek, and of the spoil of Hadadezer, son of Rehob, king of Zobah.

داوود پادشاه همهٔ این هدایا را با تمام نقره و طلایی که از اَدوم، موآب، عمون، فلسطین، عمالقه و هددعزر به غنیمت گرفته بود، وقف خداوند کرد.

And David gat him a name when he returned from smiting of the Syrians in the valley of salt, being eighteen thousand men.

داوود در جنگ با اَدومیان در درّهٔ نمک هجده هزار از اَدومیان را کشت و این پیروزی به شهرت او افزود.

And he put garrisons in Edom; throughout all Edom put he garrisons, and all they of Edom became David's servants. And the LORD preserved David whithersoever he went.

در سراسر اَدوم سربازان خود را فرستاد و همهٔ آنها را تابع خود ساخت. به هر جایی که داوود می‌رفت، خداوند او را پیروز می‌ساخت.

And David reigned over all Israel; and David executed judgment and justice unto all his people.

داوود با عدل و انصاف حکمرانی می‌کرد.

And Joab the son of Zeruiah was over the host; and Jehoshaphat the son of Ahilud was recorder;

سپهسالار لشکر او یوآب پسر صرویه و یهوشافاط، پسر اخیلود وزیر اطّلاعات او بود.

And Zadok the son of Ahitub, and Ahimelech the son of Abiathar, were the priests; and Seraiah was the scribe;

صادوق، پسر اخیطوب و اخیملک، پسر ابیاتار کاهن بودند و سرایا منشی دربار بود.

And Benaiah the son of Jehoiada was over both the Cherethites and the Pelethites; and David's sons were chief rulers.

بنایاهو، پسر یهویاداع فرمانده محافظ و پسران داوود معاونین او بودند.
