I Corinthians 4

Let a man so account of us, as of the ministers of Christ, and stewards of the mysteries of God.

شما باید ما را خادمان مسیح و مباشرین حقایق اسرارآمیز الهی بدانید.

Moreover it is required in stewards, that a man be found faithful.

مسلّماً یک مباشر باید قابل اعتماد باشد.

But with me it is a very small thing that I should be judged of you, or of man's judgment: yea, I judge not mine own self.

امّا اگر به وسیلهٔ شما و یا یک دادگاه انسانی داوری شوم، برای من كوچكترین اهمیّتی ندارد، من دربارهٔ خود قضاوت نمی‌کنم.

For I know nothing by myself; yet am I not hereby justified: but he that judgeth me is the Lord.

شاید من در خود عیبی نمی‌بینم ولی این دلیل نیست كه من بی‌گناه هستم! خود خداوند است كه دربارهٔ من قضاوت خواهد كرد.

Therefore judge nothing before the time, until the Lord come, who both will bring to light the hidden things of darkness, and will make manifest the counsels of the hearts: and then shall every man have praise of God.

پس قبل از روز داوری دربارهٔ دیگران داوری نكنید، بلكه منتظر آمدن خداوند باشید، زیرا او آنچه را كه در تاریكی پنهان است در برابر نور آشكار خواهد ساخت و نیّات پنهانی آدمیان را فاش خواهد كرد. در آن وقت هرکس آن‌طور كه شایستهٔ اوست از جانب خدا تحسین خواهد شد.

And these things, brethren, I have in a figure transferred to myself and to Apollos for your sakes; that ye might learn in us not to think of men above that which is written, that no one of you be puffed up for one against another.

ای دوستان من، به‌خاطر شما، خودم و اپلس را نمونه قرار دادم تا از ما یاد بگیرید كه «از آنچه كه نوشته شده است نباید تجاوز كرد.» تا هیچ‌یک از شما خودپسندانه به یک نفر نبالد و دیگری را خوار نشمارد،

For who maketh thee to differ from another? and what hast thou that thou didst not receive? now if thou didst receive it, why dost thou glory, as if thou hadst not received it?

زیرا كیست كه تو را برتر ساخته است؟ جز آنچه كه از دیگران گرفته‌ای، چه داری؟ پس اگر از كسی دیگر گرفتی، چرا طوری به خود فخر می‌کنی كه گویا از خود داشته‌ای؟

Now ye are full, now ye are rich, ye have reigned as kings without us: and I would to God ye did reign, that we also might reign with you.

اكنون دیگر تمام آرزوهای شما برآورده شده است! حال همه‌چیز برای شما فراهم است! و اكنون بدون ما به سلطنت رسیده‌اید! ای‌‌كاش واقعاً این‌طور بود تا ما نیز با شما سلطنت می‌کردیم!

For I think that God hath set forth us the apostles last, as it were appointed to death: for we are made a spectacle unto the world, and to angels, and to men.

چنین به نظر می‌رسد كه خدا، ما رسولان را مانند اسیران محكوم به مرگ كه در آخر صف لشکریان قرار دارند، به معرض نمایش گذارده و ما را در مقابل چشم تمام كاینات -‌چه فرشته و چه انسان- به تماشا گذاشته است.

We are fools for Christ's sake, but ye are wise in Christ; we are weak, but ye are strong; ye are honourable, but we are despised.

آری، به‌خاطر مسیح ابله محسوب می‌شویم ولی شما در مسیح مردمان با شعوری هستید! ما ضعیفیم و شما قوی! ما را حقیر می‌شمارند و به شما افتخار می‌کنند!

Even unto this present hour we both hunger, and thirst, and are naked, and are buffeted, and have no certain dwellingplace;

تا به این ساعت ما گرسنه و تشنه‌ایم، لباس كافی نداریم، كتک می‌خوریم، آواره و سرگردان هستیم؛

And labour, working with our own hands: being reviled, we bless; being persecuted, we suffer it:

با وجود این با دستهای خود كار می‌کنیم و زحمت می‌کشیم. وقتی فُحش می‌شنویم، دعای خیر می‌کنیم. وقتی آزار می‌بینیم، تحمّل می‌کنیم.

Being defamed, we intreat: we are made as the filth of the world, and are the offscouring of all things unto this day.

وقتی به ما توهین می‌شود با مهربانی پاسخ می‌دهیم. ما مانند زبالهٔ جهان و پس‌ماندهٔ همه‌چیز گشته و هنوز هم همین حالت را داریم.

I write not these things to shame you, but as my beloved sons I warn you.

اینها را ننوشتم تا شما را خجل سازم، بلكه خواستم شما را مانند فرزندان عزیز خود نصیحت نمایم.

For though ye have ten thousand instructers in Christ, yet have ye not many fathers: for in Christ Jesus I have begotten you through the gospel.

زیرا اگرچه شما هزاران معلّم در مسیح داشته باشید، ولی بیشتر از یک پدر نخواهید داشت و من با دادن بشارت انجیل مسبّب اتّحاد شما با مسیح عیسی شده و به این وسیله پدر شما گشته‌ام.

Wherefore I beseech you, be ye followers of me.

بنابراین از شما درخواست می‌کنم از من تقلید كنید.

For this cause have I sent unto you Timotheus, who is my beloved son, and faithful in the Lord, who shall bring you into remembrance of my ways which be in Christ, as I teach every where in every church.

برای این منظور «تیموتاؤس» را پیش شما فرستادم. او فرزند عزیز و وفادار من در خداوند است. اصولی را كه از مسیح آموختم و در همه‌جا در كلیساها تعلیم می‌دهم، او به شما یادآوری خواهد كرد.

Now some are puffed up, as though I would not come to you.

امّا عدّه‌ای چون فكر می‌کنند كه من نزد شما نخواهم آمد مغرور شده‌اند.

But I will come to you shortly, if the Lord will, and will know, not the speech of them which are puffed up, but the power.

ولی اگر خدا بخواهد بزودی پیش شما خواهم آمد و آن وقت دیگر ادّعاهای اشخاص مغرور را قبول نمی‌کنم، بلكه می‌خواهم ببینم كه قدرت آنها تا چه حدّ است.

For the kingdom of God is not in word, but in power.

زیرا پادشاهی خدا در حرف نیست، بلكه از قدرت است.

What will ye? shall I come unto you with a rod, or in love, and in the spirit of meekness?

من چگونه نزد شما بیایم؟ با شلاّق یا با مهربانی و ملایمت؟
