Genesis 10

Now these are the generations of the sons of Noah, Shem, Ham, and Japheth: and unto them were sons born after the flood.

Dette er Noas Sønner, Sem, Kam og Jafets Slægtebog. Efter Vandfloden fødtes der dem Sønner.

The sons of Japheth; Gomer, and Magog, and Madai, and Javan, and Tubal, and Meshech, and Tiras.

Jafets Sønner: Gomer, Magog. Madaj, Javan, Tubal, Mesjek og Tiras.

And the sons of Gomer; Ashkenaz, and Riphath, and Togarmah.

Gomers Sønner: Asjkenaz, Rifaf og Togarma.

And the sons of Javan; Elishah, and Tarshish, Kittim, and Dodanim.

Javans Sønner: Elisja, Tarsis. Kittæerne og Rodosboerne;

By these were the isles of the Gentiles divided in their lands; every one after his tongue, after their families, in their nations.

fra dem nedstammer de fjerne Strandes Folk. Det var Jafets Sønner i deres Lande, hver med sit Tungemål, efter deres Slægter og i deres Folkeslag.

And the sons of Ham; Cush, and Mizraim, and Phut, and Canaan.

Kams Sønner: Kusj, Mlizrajim, Put og Hana'an.

And the sons of Cush; Seba, and Havilah, and Sabtah, and Raamah, and Sabtecha: and the sons of Raamah; Sheba, and Dedan.

Kusj's Sønner: Seba, Havila, Sabta, Ra'ma og Sabteka. Ra'mas Sønner: Saba og Dedan.

And Cush begat Nimrod: he began to be a mighty one in the earth.

Og Kusj avlede Nimrod, som var den første Storhersker på Jorden.

He was a mighty hunter before the LORD: wherefore it is said, Even as Nimrod the mighty hunter before the LORD.

Han var en vældig Jæger for HERRENs Øjne; derfor siger man: "En vældig Jæget for HERRENs Øjne som Nimrod."

And the beginning of his kingdom was Babel, and Erech, and Accad, and Calneh, in the land of Shinar.

Fra først af omfattede hans Rige Babel, Erelk, Akkad og Kalne i Sinear;

Out of that land went forth Asshur, and builded Nineveh, and the city Rehoboth, and Calah,

fra dette Land drog han til Assyrien og byggede Nineve, Rehobot- Ir, Kela

And Resen between Nineveh and Calah: the same is a great city.

og Resen mellem Nineve og Kela, det er den store By.

And Mizraim begat Ludim, and Anamim, and Lehabim, and Naphtuhim,

Mizrajim avlede Luderne,Anamerne, Lehaberne, Naftuherne,

And Pathrusim, and Casluhim, (out of whom came Philistim,) and Caphtorim.

Patruserne, Kasluherne, fra hvem Filisterne udgik, og Kaftorerne.

And Canaan begat Sidon his firstborn, and Heth,

Kana'an avlede Zidon, hans førstefødte, Het,

And the Jebusite, and the Amorite, and the Girgasite,

Jebusiterne, Amoriterne, Girgasjiterne,

And the Hivite, and the Arkite, and the Sinite,

Hivviterne, Arkiterne, Siniterne,

And the Arvadite, and the Zemarite, and the Hamathite: and afterward were the families of the Canaanites spread abroad.

Arvaditerne, Zemariterne og Hamatiterne; men senere bredte Kana'anæernes Slægter sig,

And the border of the Canaanites was from Sidon, as thou comest to Gerar, unto Gaza; as thou goest, unto Sodom, and Gomorrah, and Admah, and Zeboim, even unto Lasha.

så at Kana'anæernes Område strakte sig fra Zidon i Retning af Gerar indtil Gaza, i Retning af Sodoma, Gomorra, Adma,og Zebojim indtil Lasja.

These are the sons of Ham, after their families, after their tongues, in their countries, and in their nations.

Det var Kams Sønner efter deres Slægter og Tungemål i deres Lande og Folk.

Unto Shem also, the father of all the children of Eber, the brother of Japheth the elder, even to him were children born.

Men også Sem, alle Ebersønnernes Fader, Jafets ældste Broder, fødtes der Sønner.

The children of Shem; Elam, and Asshur, and Arphaxad, and Lud, and Aram.

Sems Sønner: Elam, Assur, Arpaksjad, Lud og Aram.

And the children of Aram; Uz, and Hul, and Gether, and Mash.

Arams Sønner: Uz, Hul, Geter og Masj.

And Arphaxad begat Salah; and Salah begat Eber.

Arpaksjad avlede Sjela; Sjela avlede Eber;

And unto Eber were born two sons: the name of one was Peleg; for in his days was the earth divided; and his brother's name was Joktan.

Eber fødtes der to Sønner; den ene hed Peleg, thi på hans Tid adsplittedes Jordens Befolkning, og hans Broder hed Joktan.

And Joktan begat Almodad, and Sheleph, and Hazarmaveth, and Jerah,

Joktan avlede Almodad, Sjelef, Hazarmavet, Jera,

And Hadoram, and Uzal, and Diklah,

Hadoram, Uzal, Dikla,

And Obal, and Abimael, and Sheba,

Obal, Abimael, Saba,

And Ophir, and Havilah, and Jobab: all these were the sons of Joktan.

Ofir, Havila og Jobab. Alle disse var Joktans Sønner,

And their dwelling was from Mesha, as thou goest unto Sephar a mount of the east.

og deres Bosteder strækker sig fra Mesja i Retning af Sefar, Østens Bjerge.

These are the sons of Shem, after their families, after their tongues, in their lands, after their nations.

Det var Sems Sønner efter deres Slægter og Tungemål i deres Lande og Folk.

These are the families of the sons of Noah, after their generations, in their nations: and by these were the nations divided in the earth after the flood.

Det var Noas Sønners Slægter efter deres Nedstamning, i deres Folk; fra dem nedstammer Folkene, som efter Vandfloden bredte sig på Jorden.
