Psalms 78

Give ear, O my people, to my law: incline your ears to the words of my mouth.

Vyučující, Azafovi. Pozoruj, lide můj, zákona mého, nakloňte uší svých k slovům úst mých.

I will open my mouth in a parable: I will utter dark sayings of old:

Otevru v podobenství ústa svá, vypravovati budu přípovídky starobylé.

Which we have heard and known, and our fathers have told us.

Co jsme slýchali i poznali, a co nám otcové naši vypravovali,

We will not hide them from their children, shewing to the generation to come the praises of the LORD, and his strength, and his wonderful works that he hath done.

Nezatajíme toho před syny jejich, kteříž budoucím potomkům svým vypravovati budou chvály Hospodinovy, ano i moc jeho a divné skutky jeho, kteréž činil.

For he established a testimony in Jacob, and appointed a law in Israel, which he commanded our fathers, that they should make them known to their children:

Neboť jest vyzdvihl svědectví v Jákobovi, a zákon vydal v Izraeli, což přikázal otcům našim, aby v známost uvodili synům svým,

That the generation to come might know them, even the children which should be born; who should arise and declare them to their children:

Aby to poznal věk potomní, synové, kteříž se zroditi měli, a ti povstanouce, aby vypravovali dítkám svým,

That they might set their hope in God, and not forget the works of God, but keep his commandments:

Aby pokládali v Bohu naději svou, a nezapomínali se na skutky Boha silného, ale ostříhali přikázaní jeho,

And might not be as their fathers, a stubborn and rebellious generation; a generation that set not their heart aright, and whose spirit was not stedfast with God.

Aby nebývali jako otcové jejich, pokolení zpurné a protivné, národ, kterýž nenapravil srdce svého, a nebyl věrný Bohu silnému duch jeho.

The children of Ephraim, being armed, and carrying bows, turned back in the day of battle.

Jako synové Efraim zbrojní, ač uměle z lučiště stříleli, však v čas boje zpět se obrátili,

They kept not the covenant of God, and refused to walk in his law;

Nebo neostříhali smlouvy Boží, a v zákoně jeho zpěčovali se choditi.

And forgat his works, and his wonders that he had shewed them.

Zapomenuli se na činy jeho, a na divné skutky jeho, kteréž jim ukázal.

Marvellous things did he in the sight of their fathers, in the land of Egypt, in the field of Zoan.

Před otci jejich činil divy v zemi Egyptské, na poli Soan.

He divided the sea, and caused them to pass through; and he made the waters to stand as an heap.

Rozdělil moře, a převedl je; učinil, aby stály vody jako hromada.

In the daytime also he led them with a cloud, and all the night with a light of fire.

Vedl je ve dne v oblace, a každé noci v jasném ohni.

He clave the rocks in the wilderness, and gave them drink as out of the great depths.

Protrhl skály na poušti, a napájel je jako z propastí velikých.

He brought streams also out of the rock, and caused waters to run down like rivers.

Vyvedl potoky z skály, a učinil, aby vody tekly jako řeky.

And they sinned yet more against him by provoking the most High in the wilderness.

A však vždy přičíněli hříchů proti němu, a popouzeli Nejvyššího na poušti.

And they tempted God in their heart by asking meat for their lust.

A pokoušeli Boha silného v srdci svém, žádajíce pokrmu podlé líbosti své.

Yea, they spake against God; they said, Can God furnish a table in the wilderness?

A mluvili proti Bohu, řkouce: Zdaliž bude moci Bůh silný připraviti stůl na této poušti?

Behold, he smote the rock, that the waters gushed out, and the streams overflowed; can he give bread also? can he provide flesh for his people?

Aj, udeřilť jest v skálu, a tekly vody, a řeky se rozvodnily. Zdali také bude moci dáti chleba? Zdali nastrojí masa lidu svému?

Therefore the LORD heard this, and was wroth: so a fire was kindled against Jacob, and anger also came up against Israel;

A protož uslyšav Hospodin, rozhněval se, a oheň zažžen jest proti Jákobovi, a prchlivost vstoupila na Izraele,

Because they believed not in God, and trusted not in his salvation:

Proto že se nedověřili Bohu, a neměli naděje v spasení jeho,

Though he had commanded the clouds from above, and opened the doors of heaven,

Ačkoli rozkázal oblakům shůry, a průduchy nebeské otevřel,

And had rained down manna upon them to eat, and had given them of the corn of heaven.

A dštil na ně mannou ku pokrmu, a obilé nebeské dával jim.

Man did eat angels' food: he sent them meat to the full.

Chléb mocných jedl člověk, seslal jim pokrmů do sytosti.

He caused an east wind to blow in the heaven: and by his power he brought in the south wind.

Obrátil vítr východní u povětří, a přivedl mocí svou vítr polední.

He rained flesh also upon them as dust, and feathered fowls like as the sand of the sea:

I dštil na ně masem jako prachem, a ptactvem pernatým jako pískem mořským.

And he let it fall in the midst of their camp, round about their habitations.

Spustil je do prostřed vojska jejich, a všudy vůkol stanů jejich.

So they did eat, and were well filled: for he gave them their own desire;

I jedli, a nasyceni jsou hojně, a dal jim to, čehož žádali.

They were not estranged from their lust. But while their meat was yet in their mouths,

Ještě nevyplnili žádosti své, ještě pokrm byl v ústech jejich,

The wrath of God came upon them, and slew the fattest of them, and smote down the chosen men of Israel.

A v tom prchlivost Boží připadla na ně, a zbil tučné jejich, a přední Izraelské porazil.

For all this they sinned still, and believed not for his wondrous works.

S tím se vším vždy ještě hřešili, a nevěřili předivným skutkům jeho.

Therefore their days did he consume in vanity, and their years in trouble.

A protož dopustil na ně, že marně skonali dny své, a léta svá s chvátáním.

When he slew them, then they sought him: and they returned and enquired early after God.

Když je hubil, jestliže ho hledali, a zase k Bohu silnému hned na úsvitě se navraceli,

And they remembered that God was their rock, and the high God their redeemer.

Rozpomínajíce se na to, že Bůh byl skála jejich, a Bůh silný nejvyšší vykupitel jejich:

Nevertheless they did flatter him with their mouth, and they lied unto him with their tongues.

(Ačkoli mu s pochlebenstvím mluvili ústy svými, a jazykem svým lhali jemu.

For their heart was not right with him, neither were they stedfast in his covenant.

A srdce jejich nebylo upřímé před ním, aniž se věrně měli v smlouvě jeho),

But he, being full of compassion, forgave their iniquity, and destroyed them not: yea, many a time turned he his anger away, and did not stir up all his wrath.

On jsa milosrdný, odpouštěl nepravosti jejich, a nezahladil jich; častokrát odvracel hněv svůj, a nevzbuzoval vší zůřivosti své.

For he remembered that they were but flesh; a wind that passeth away, and cometh not again.

Nebo pamatoval, že jsou tělo, vítr, kterýž odchází, a nenavracuje se zase.

How oft did they provoke him in the wilderness, and grieve him in the desert!

Kolikrát jsou ho dráždili na poušti, a k bolesti přivodili na pustinách.

Yea, they turned back and tempted God, and limited the Holy One of Israel.

Týž i týž navracujíce se, pokoušeli Boha silného, a svatému Izraelskému cíle vyměřovali.

They remembered not his hand, nor the day when he delivered them from the enemy.

Nepamatovali na moc jeho, a na ten den, v kterémž je vysvobodil z ssoužení,

How he had wrought his signs in Egypt, and his wonders in the field of Zoan:

Když činil v Egyptě znamení svá, a zázraky své na poli Soan,

And had turned their rivers into blood; and their floods, that they could not drink.

Když obrátil v krev řeky a potoky jejich, tak že jich píti nemohli.

He sent divers sorts of flies among them, which devoured them; and frogs, which destroyed them.

Dopustil na ně směsici žížal, aby je žraly, a žáby, aby je hubily.

He gave also their increase unto the caterpiller, and their labour unto the locust.

A dal chroustům úrody jejich, a úsilí jejich kobylkám.

He destroyed their vines with hail, and their sycomore trees with frost.

Stloukl krupami réví jejich, a stromy fíkové jejich ledem.

He gave up their cattle also to the hail, and their flocks to hot thunderbolts.

Vydal krupobití na hovada jejich, a na dobytek jejich uhlí řeřavé.

He cast upon them the fierceness of his anger, wrath, and indignation, and trouble, by sending evil angels among them.

Poslal na ně prchlivost hněvu svého, rozpálení, zůřivost i ssoužení, dopustiv na ně anděly zlé.

He made a way to his anger; he spared not their soul from death, but gave their life over to the pestilence;

Uprostrannil stezku prchlivosti své, neuchoval od smrti duše jejich, ano i na hovada jejich mor dopustil.

And smote all the firstborn in Egypt; the chief of their strength in the tabernacles of Ham:

A pobil všecko prvorozené v Egyptě, prvotiny síly v staních Chamových.

But made his own people to go forth like sheep, and guided them in the wilderness like a flock.

Ale lid svůj vyvedl jako ovce, a vodil se s nimi jako s stádem po poušti.

And he led them on safely, so that they feared not: but the sea overwhelmed their enemies.

Vodil je v bezpečnosti, tak že nestrašili, nepřátely pak jejich přikrylo moře,

And he brought them to the border of his sanctuary, even to this mountain, which his right hand had purchased.

Až je přivedl ku pomezí svatosti své, na horu tu, kteréž dobyla pravice jeho.

He cast out the heathen also before them, and divided them an inheritance by line, and made the tribes of Israel to dwell in their tents.

Vyhnav před tváří jejich národy, způsobil to, aby jim na provazec dědictví jejich přišli, a aby přebývala v staních jejich pokolení Izraelská.

Yet they tempted and provoked the most high God, and kept not his testimonies:

Však vždy předce pokoušeli a dráždili Boha nejvyššího, a svědectví jeho neostříhali.

But turned back, and dealt unfaithfully like their fathers: they were turned aside like a deceitful bow.

Ale zpět odšedše, převráceně činili, jako i předkové jejich; uchýlili se jako mylné lučiště.

For they provoked him to anger with their high places, and moved him to jealousy with their graven images.

Nebo popouzeli ho výsostmi svými, a rytinami svými k horlení přivedli jej.

When God heard this, he was wroth, and greatly abhorred Israel:

Slyšel Bůh, a rozhněval se, a u velikou ošklivost vzal Izraele,

So that he forsook the tabernacle of Shiloh, the tent which he placed among men;

Tak že opustiv příbytek v Sílo, stánek, kterýž postavil mezi lidmi,

And delivered his strength into captivity, and his glory into the enemy's hand.

Vydal v zajetí sílu svou, a slávu svou v ruce nepřítele.

He gave his people over also unto the sword; and was wroth with his inheritance.

Dal pod meč lid svůj, a na dědictví své se rozhněval.

The fire consumed their young men; and their maidens were not given to marriage.

Mládence jeho sežral oheň, a panny jeho nebyly chváleny.

Their priests fell by the sword; and their widows made no lamentation.

Kněží jejich od meče padli, a vdovy jejich neplakaly.

Then the Lord awaked as one out of sleep, and like a mighty man that shouteth by reason of wine.

Potom pak procítil Pán jako ze sna, jako silný rek, kterýž po víně sobě vykřikuje.

And he smote his enemies in the hinder parts: he put them to a perpetual reproach.

A ranil nepřátely své po zadu, a u věčné pohanění je vydal.

Moreover he refused the tabernacle of Joseph, and chose not the tribe of Ephraim:

Ačkoli pak pohrdl stánkem Jozefovým, a pokolení Efraimova nevyvolil,

But chose the tribe of Judah, the mount Zion which he loved.

Však vyvolil pokolení Judovo, horu Sion, kterouž zamiloval.

And he built his sanctuary like high palaces, like the earth which he hath established for ever.

A vystavěl sobě, jako hrad vysoký, svatyni svou, jako zemi, kterouž utvrdil na věky.

He chose David also his servant, and took him from the sheepfolds:

A vyvolil Davida služebníka svého, vzav jej od chlévů stáda.

From following the ewes great with young he brought him to feed Jacob his people, and Israel his inheritance.

Když chodil za ovcemi březími, zavedl jej, aby pásl Jákoba, lid jeho, a Izraele, dědictví jeho.

So he fed them according to the integrity of his heart; and guided them by the skilfulness of his hands.

Kterýž pásl je v upřímnosti srdce svého, a zvláštní opatrností rukou svých vodil je.
