Proverbs 10

The proverbs of Solomon. A wise son maketh a glad father: but a foolish son is the heaviness of his mother.

Syn moudrý obveseluje otce, ale syn bláznivý zámutkem jest matce své.

Treasures of wickedness profit nothing: but righteousness delivereth from death.

Neprospívají pokladové bezbožně nabytí, ale spravedlnost vytrhuje od smrti.

The LORD will not suffer the soul of the righteous to famish: but he casteth away the substance of the wicked.

Nedopustí lačněti Hospodin duši spravedlivého, statek pak bezbožných rozptýlí.

He becometh poor that dealeth with a slack hand: but the hand of the diligent maketh rich.

K nouzi přivodí ruka lstivá, ruka pak pracovitých zbohacuje.

He that gathereth in summer is a wise son: but he that sleepeth in harvest is a son that causeth shame.

Kdo shromažďuje v létě, jest syn rozumný; kdož vyspává ve žni, jest syn, kterýž hanbu činí.

Blessings are upon the head of the just: but violence covereth the mouth of the wicked.

Požehnání jest nad hlavou spravedlivého, ale ústa bezbožných přikrývají ukrutnost.

The memory of the just is blessed: but the name of the wicked shall rot.

Památka spravedlivého požehnaná, ale jméno bezbožných smrdí.

The wise in heart will receive commandments: but a prating fool shall fall.

Moudré srdce přijímá přikázaní, ale blázen od rtů svých padne.

He that walketh uprightly walketh surely: but he that perverteth his ways shall be known.

Kdo chodí upřímě, chodí doufanlivě; kdož pak převrací cesty své, vyjeven bude.

He that winketh with the eye causeth sorrow: but a prating fool shall fall.

Kdo mhourá okem, uvodí nesnáz; a kdož jest bláznivých rtů, padne.

The mouth of a righteous man is a well of life: but violence covereth the mouth of the wicked.

Pramen života jsou ústa spravedlivého, ale ústa bezbožných přikrývají ukrutnost.

Hatred stirreth up strifes: but love covereth all sins.

Nenávist vzbuzuje sváry, ale láska přikrývá všecka přestoupení.

In the lips of him that hath understanding wisdom is found: but a rod is for the back of him that is void of understanding.

Ve rtech rozumného nalézá se moudrost, ale kyj na hřbetě blázna.

Wise men lay up knowledge: but the mouth of the foolish is near destruction.

Moudří skrývají umění, úst pak blázna blízké jest setření.

The rich man's wealth is his strong city: the destruction of the poor is their poverty.

Zboží bohatého jest město pevné jeho, ale nouze jest chudých setření.

The labour of the righteous tendeth to life: the fruit of the wicked to sin.

Práce spravedlivého jest k životu, nábytek pak bezbožných jest k hříchu.

He is in the way of life that keepeth instruction: but he that refuseth reproof erreth.

Stezkou života jde, kdož přijímá trestání; ale kdož pohrdá domlouváním, bloudí.

He that hideth hatred with lying lips, and he that uttereth a slander, is a fool.

Kdož přikrývá nenávist rty lživými, i kdož uvodí v lehkost, ten blázen jest.

In the multitude of words there wanteth not sin: but he that refraineth his lips is wise.

Mnohé mluvení nebývá bez hříchu, kdož pak zdržuje rty své, opatrný jest.

The tongue of the just is as choice silver: the heart of the wicked is little worth.

Stříbro výborné jest jazyk spravedlivého, ale srdce bezbožných za nic nestojí.

The lips of the righteous feed many: but fools die for want of wisdom.

Rtové spravedlivého pasou mnohé, blázni pak pro bláznovství umírají.

The blessing of the LORD, it maketh rich, and he addeth no sorrow with it.

Požehnání Hospodinovo zbohacuje, a to beze všeho trápení.

It is as sport to a fool to do mischief: but a man of understanding hath wisdom.

Za žert jest bláznu činiti nešlechetnost, ale muž rozumný moudrosti se drží.

The fear of the wicked, it shall come upon him: but the desire of the righteous shall be granted.

Čeho se bojí bezbožný, to přichází na něj; ale čehož žádají spravedliví, dává Bůh.

As the whirlwind passeth, so is the wicked no more: but the righteous is an everlasting foundation.

Jakož pomíjí vichřice, tak nestane bezbožníka, spravedlivý pak jest základ stálý.

As vinegar to the teeth, and as smoke to the eyes, so is the sluggard to them that send him.

Jako ocet zubům, a jako dým očima, tak jest lenivý těm, kteříž jej posílají.

The fear of the LORD prolongeth days: but the years of the wicked shall be shortened.

Bázeň Hospodinova přidává dnů, léta pak bezbožných ukrácena bývají.

The hope of the righteous shall be gladness: but the expectation of the wicked shall perish.

Očekávání spravedlivých jest potěšení, naděje pak bezbožných zahyne.

The way of the LORD is strength to the upright: but destruction shall be to the workers of iniquity.

Silou jest upřímému cesta Hospodinova, a strachem těm, kteříž činí nepravost.

The righteous shall never be removed: but the wicked shall not inhabit the earth.

Spravedlivý na věky se nepohne, bezbožní pak nebudou bydliti v zemi.

The mouth of the just bringeth forth wisdom: but the froward tongue shall be cut out.

Ústa spravedlivého vynášejí moudrost, ale jazyk převrácený vyťat bude.

The lips of the righteous know what is acceptable: but the mouth of the wicked speaketh frowardness.

Rtové spravedlivého znají, což jest Bohu libého, ústa pak bezbožných převrácené věci.
