Jeremiah 5

Run ye to and fro through the streets of Jerusalem, and see now, and know, and seek in the broad places thereof, if ye can find a man, if there be any that executeth judgment, that seeketh the truth; and I will pardon it.

Обходете улиците на Ерусалим и вижте сега, и разберете и потърсете по площадите му дали ще намерите човек, дали има някой, който да върши правда, да търси истина; и Аз ще простя на този град.

And though they say, The LORD liveth; surely they swear falsely.

Но ако и да казват: Жив е ГОСПОД! — пак лъжливо се кълнат.

O LORD, are not thine eyes upon the truth? thou hast stricken them, but they have not grieved; thou hast consumed them, but they have refused to receive correction: they have made their faces harder than a rock; they have refused to return.

ГОСПОДИ, очите Ти не търсят ли истина? Ударил си ги, но не ги заболя; довършил си ги, но не искаха да приемат поправка; втвърдиха лицата си повече от скала, отказаха да се обърнат.

Therefore I said, Surely these are poor; they are foolish: for they know not the way of the LORD, nor the judgment of their God.

И аз казах: Само простолюдие са, безумни са, защото не знаят пътя на ГОСПОДА и правилата на своя Бог.

I will get me unto the great men, and will speak unto them; for they have known the way of the LORD, and the judgment of their God: but these have altogether broken the yoke, and burst the bonds.

Ще отида при големците и ще говоря с тях, защото те знаят пътя на ГОСПОДА и правилата на своя Бог. Но и те всички са строшили ярема, разкъсали са връзките.

Wherefore a lion out of the forest shall slay them, and a wolf of the evenings shall spoil them, a leopard shall watch over their cities: every one that goeth out thence shall be torn in pieces: because their transgressions are many, and their backslidings are increased.

Затова лъв от гората ще ги убие, вълк от степта ще ги изтреби, леопард ще дебне край градовете им; всеки, който излезе оттам, ще бъде разкъсан, защото престъпленията им са много, умножиха се отстъпничествата им.

How shall I pardon thee for this? thy children have forsaken me, and sworn by them that are no gods: when I had fed them to the full, they then committed adultery, and assembled themselves by troops in the harlots' houses.

Как да ти простя това? Синовете ти Ме оставиха и се кълнат в онези, които не са богове. Наситих ги, а те прелюбодействаха и на тълпи отиваха в домовете на блудниците.

They were as fed horses in the morning: every one neighed after his neighbour's wife.

Похотливи са като охранени коне, всеки цвили след жената на ближния си.

Shall I not visit for these things? saith the LORD: and shall not my soul be avenged on such a nation as this?

Няма ли да накажа това? — заявява ГОСПОД. И няма ли да отмъсти душата Ми на такъв народ?

Go ye up upon her walls, and destroy; but make not a full end: take away her battlements; for they are not the LORD'S.

Качете се на стените му и събаряйте, но не изтребвайте напълно. Откършете клонките му, защото не са на ГОСПОДА,

For the house of Israel and the house of Judah have dealt very treacherously against me, saith the LORD.

защото израилевият дом и юдовият дом постъпиха много невярно към Мен, заявява ГОСПОД.

They have belied the LORD, and said, It is not he; neither shall evil come upon us; neither shall we see sword nor famine:

Отрекоха се от ГОСПОДА и казаха: Не е Той, и няма да ни постигне зло, и меч и глад няма да видим.

And the prophets shall become wind, and the word is not in them: thus shall it be done unto them.

И пророците са вятър и словото ГОСПОДНО не е в тях. На тях нека стане така!

Wherefore thus saith the LORD God of hosts, Because ye speak this word, behold, I will make my words in thy mouth fire, and this people wood, and it shall devour them.

Затова, така казва ГОСПОД, Бог на Войнствата: Затова, че говорите тези думи, ето, Аз ще направя словата Си огън в устата ти, а този народ — дърва, и ще ги пояде.

Lo, I will bring a nation upon you from far, O house of Israel, saith the LORD: it is a mighty nation, it is an ancient nation, a nation whose language thou knowest not, neither understandest what they say.

Ето, Аз ще доведа върху вас народ отдалеч, доме израилев, заявява ГОСПОД. Народ силен е той, народ старовременен, народ чийто език не знаеш и не разбираш какво говори.

Their quiver is as an open sepulchre, they are all mighty men.

Колчанът му е като гроб отворен; те всички са силни мъже.

And they shall eat up thine harvest, and thy bread, which thy sons and thy daughters should eat: they shall eat up thy flocks and thine herds: they shall eat up thy vines and thy fig trees: they shall impoverish thy fenced cities, wherein thou trustedst, with the sword.

И ще пояде жетвата ти и хляба ти, ще поядат синовете ти и дъщерите ти; ще пояде стадата ти от дребен и едър добитък; ще пояде лозята ти и смокините ти; ще разбият с меч укрепените ти градове, на които разчиташ.

Nevertheless in those days, saith the LORD, I will not make a full end with you.

Но и в онези дни, заявява ГОСПОД, няма да ви изтребя докрай.

And it shall come to pass, when ye shall say, Wherefore doeth the LORD our God all these things unto us? then shalt thou answer them, Like as ye have forsaken me, and served strange gods in your land, so shall ye serve strangers in a land that is not yours.

И когато кажете: Защо ГОСПОД, нашият Бог, ни направи всичко това? — тогава им кажи: Както Ме оставихте и служихте на чужди богове в земята си, така ще служите на чужденци в земя, която не е ваша.

Declare this in the house of Jacob, and publish it in Judah, saying,

Известете това на якововия дом и го прогласете в Юда, и кажете:

Hear now this, O foolish people, and without understanding; which have eyes, and see not; which have ears, and hear not:

Чуйте сега това, глупав и неразумен народе, който има очи, но не вижда, и има уши, но не чува!

Fear ye not me? saith the LORD: will ye not tremble at my presence, which have placed the sand for the bound of the sea by a perpetual decree, that it cannot pass it: and though the waves thereof toss themselves, yet can they not prevail; though they roar, yet can they not pass over it?

От Мен ли не се боите? — заявява ГОСПОД. — И пред Мен ли не треперите, който с вечна наредба съм поставил пясъка за граница на морето и то не я преминава; и вълните му бушуват, но не надделяват, бучат, но не я преминават?

But this people hath a revolting and a rebellious heart; they are revolted and gone.

Но този народ има упорито и опърничаво сърце; те отстъпиха и си отидоха.

Neither say they in their heart, Let us now fear the LORD our God, that giveth rain, both the former and the latter, in his season: he reserveth unto us the appointed weeks of the harvest.

Не казват в сърцето си: Нека се боим сега от ГОСПОДА, своя Бог, който дава дъжд — и ранния и късния на времето му, който пази за нас определените седмици на жетвата!

Your iniquities have turned away these things, and your sins have withholden good things from you.

Вашите беззакония отвърнаха тези неща и вашите грехове задържаха от вас доброто.

For among my people are found wicked men: they lay wait, as he that setteth snares; they set a trap, they catch men.

Защото сред народа Ми се намират безбожни, които причакват, като птицеловци се снишават, залагат примки, ловят хора.

As a cage is full of birds, so are their houses full of deceit: therefore they are become great, and waxen rich.

Като клетка пълна с птици, така къщите им са пълни с измама; затова се издигнаха и забогатяха.

They are waxen fat, they shine: yea, they overpass the deeds of the wicked: they judge not the cause, the cause of the fatherless, yet they prosper; and the right of the needy do they not judge.

Тлъсти са, гладки са, превъзходни са в делата на злото. Не отсъждат дело, делото на сирачето, за да благоденстват, и не отсъждат правото на бедните.

Shall I not visit for these things? saith the LORD: shall not my soul be avenged on such a nation as this?

Няма ли да накажа за това? — заявява ГОСПОД. Няма ли да отмъсти душата Ми на такъв народ като този?

A wonderful and horrible thing is committed in the land;

Удивително и ужасяващо нещо стана в земята:

The prophets prophesy falsely, and the priests bear rule by their means; and my people love to have it so: and what will ye do in the end thereof?

Пророците пророкуват лъжливо и свещениците властват чрез тях; и народът Ми така обича. А какво ще правите накрая на всичко това?
