James 4

From whence come wars and fightings among you? come they not hence, even of your lusts that war in your members?

Откъде произлизат боеве и откъде – разпри между вас? Не оттам ли, от вашите страсти, които воюват в телесните ви части?

Ye lust, and have not: ye kill, and desire to have, and cannot obtain: ye fight and war, yet ye have not, because ye ask not.

Пожелавате, но нямате; убивате и завиждате, но не можете да получите; карате се и се биете, но нямате, защото не просите.

Ye ask, and receive not, because ye ask amiss, that ye may consume it upon your lusts.

Просите и не получавате, защото зле просите, за да го разпилеете за страстите си.

Ye adulterers and adulteresses, know ye not that the friendship of the world is enmity with God? whosoever therefore will be a friend of the world is the enemy of God.

Прелюбодейци и прелюбодейки! Не знаете ли, че приятелството със света е вражда против Бога? И така, който иска да бъде приятел на света, става враг на Бога.

Do ye think that the scripture saith in vain, The spirit that dwelleth in us lusteth to envy?

Или мислите, че Писанието напразно говори, че Бог до ревност копнее за Духа, който е вселил в нас?

But he giveth more grace. Wherefore he saith, God resisteth the proud, but giveth grace unto the humble.

Но Той дава една по-голяма благодат; затова казва: „Бог на горделивите се противи, а на смирените дава благодат.“

Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.

И така, покорете се на Бога. Съпротивете се на дявола, и той ще побегне от вас.

Draw nigh to God, and he will draw nigh to you. Cleanse your hands, ye sinners; and purify your hearts, ye double minded.

Приближете се към Бога, и ще се приближи и Той към вас. Измийте ръцете си, вие грешници, и очистете сърцата си, вие колебливи.

Be afflicted, and mourn, and weep: let your laughter be turned to mourning, and your joy to heaviness.

Тъжете, ридайте и плачете; смехът ви нека се обърне в плач и радостта ви – в тъга.

Humble yourselves in the sight of the Lord, and he shall lift you up.

Смирете се пред Господа, и Той ще ви възвиси.

Speak not evil one of another, brethren. He that speaketh evil of his brother, and judgeth his brother, speaketh evil of the law, and judgeth the law: but if thou judge the law, thou art not a doer of the law, but a judge.

Не говорете зло един за друг, братя; който злослови брата или съди брат си, злослови закона и съди закона; а ако съдиш закона, не си изпълнител на закона, а съдия.

There is one lawgiver, who is able to save and to destroy: who art thou that judgest another?

Има само един Законодател и Съдия, който може да спаси и да погуби; а ти кой си, за да съдиш ближния си?

Go to now, ye that say, To day or to morrow we will go into such a city, and continue there a year, and buy and sell, and get gain:

Слушайте сега вие, които казвате: Днес или утре ще отидем в еди-кой си град, ще останем там една година, ще търгуваме и ще спечелим –

Whereas ye know not what shall be on the morrow. For what is your life? It is even a vapour, that appeareth for a little time, and then vanisheth away.

когато вие не знаете какъв ще бъде утре животът ви, защото вие сте пћра, която се явява за малко и после изчезва –

For that ye ought to say, If the Lord will, we shall live, and do this, or that.

вместо да казвате: Ако иска Господ и сме живи, ще направим това или онова.

But now ye rejoice in your boastings: all such rejoicing is evil.

Но сега вие се хвалите във вашата надутост. Всяка такава хвалба е зло.

Therefore to him that knoweth to do good, and doeth it not, to him it is sin.

И така, ако някой знае да прави добро и не го прави, за него това е грях.
